Here is my take on the trick Take 52 blank cards and 12 picture cards, Put a rubber band on the 12 picture cards and put it at the very bottom of the blank deck (towards the flap opening) inside the box with the two small flaps removed (you have to force for the picture cards, the value of the picture card can be freely choosen by spectator) Casually open the box after the spectator freely selects a card(obviously any picture card) Hold the box horizontally with the opening of the box towards you and the big flap of the box will cover the thumb, Ruffle through the packet of picture cards and you have to secretly take a gaze to find the correct card Now hold the packet of the remaing cards to keep a break Turn the box vertical to empty the box While doing so slide the thumb of other hand between the break to remove the choosen card along with the blank deck

I don't think it is how he actually did it. But your reverse engineering works to the similar effect.

I saw this done tonight but I think it was different. The magician pulled audience suggestions from a bowl that we had written on earlier. He produced a Manhattan cocktail, a margarita, Zinfandel. I got orange juice which actually had pulp in it. I can understand how you could do with with certain beverages easier than others... but how could it be done with booze cocktails that were suggested by the audience only minutes earlier? How did the orange juice have pulp? My friend got a Naked Juice 'green machine" which was as thick as the real thing. How did he do it?

One suggestion: when move your hands around quickly in random ways like at the beginning, I find myself having trouble following you. I suggest fewer and slower movements with your hand on camera. Thanks.

Not the trick.The only thing that i caught Boris do was when Teller picked his card while he was looking at Penn, he was still going through the cards searching for his gimmick. He didnt allow Teller to freelly put the card back into the deck so thats def where his move happened. But other than that I still dont know how he had Penn choose a number and then without (at least on tv) doing anything else to the cards having his card in the third position. He even seperates every card until he got the third so.. im getting closer to the original method but man.. this has to be most baffling trick ever.

This stuff is already hard to practice, imagine how much skill it took to do the original damn. But thanks for your video, this method is clever too.

Apparently this wasn't the trick Asi did, from many of the comments here. And usually someone teaching a magic trick has been doing magic for a while and can shuffle cards better than this. Even I can shuffle better than this, and I don't do tricks.

The problem is he just took the deck back from Teller after the shuffled and didn’t do anything with it other than held it in mechanics grip. How did he move the gimmick cars to the top?

This is absolutely not the method used by Boris Wild on his Fool Us performance!!! If this is the method, then Penn and Teller and everyone watching must have missed the part where he opened the “brick” of cards and then opened the one deck chosen by Penn and then prepared the “gimmick” in the manner that you are supposing! You and anyone who believes your presentation, are idiots!

and of course you need a pocket that will allow you to ditch 12 cards in it in a blink of an eye. what sort of pocket would this be? it would need to be rigid like a narrow box or something, otherwise it would not stay open to drop the cards in. if i tried ditching those cards they would end up all over the floor

I went back and watched Boris do it again, I don't think he did it the way you're suggesting. The cards clearly went underneath the previous cards by quite a gap.

Did you come up with this? Wait just read the comments and your "Do you guys like the idea?" comment came to my attention... Yes I liked it a LOT both due to the clever way to package it all up at the end which can be used in a rather various other closings as long as the performer has access to the deck of cards last. Brilliant

You have come up with a FANTASTIC trick!!! (I am assuming the possibility that it was how Boris did it, more as a speculation at this point.. Due to the P&T FoolUs presentation, I had to re-watch because of you) And you freely shared it with everyone! My VERY good (and undoubtedly generous) friend... If this does not deserve for me to subscribe; I fail to find what would. This is a VERY creative and massively elegant set up. THANK you I currently fail to prevent the cards from making snapping sounds... Hypothetically, assuming that this WAS the method (Or something of these lines): The cards used in the show were cards with air gaps (To prevent from sticking to each other) as I am assuming; so thus for such a trick to work double-sided tape does seem the root to go... But the tape just makes too much noise. Maybe the box was repopulated with a Chinese knock off of sort (made without an airgap surfaces) to produce them more cost effectively?

That's one theory, but if you go back and look at the actual trick he did on pen and teller. When he counted out 3 cards. If the first two cards were the gimmick cards, then that means that on the third card he counted out he would have to had shoved it in between the first and two cards to make it the third card. But he didn't, he counted out 3 cards and the third card went on to the bottom of the first two cards. Penn Got the handle and inspect the last three cards and if there was some kind of sticky tape on there, he would have found that.

It is a good method you proposed, but that is not how he did it. If you look closely, you see that moves you are suggesting do not take place and at the end, Pen takes the whole deck with him to examine and has it in his hands the whole time. He would hide the deck at the end if he had a gimmicked card in it. Thank you for sharing, was interesting, but i don't think this is the main backbone of how the trick was done.
