PUT TO THE TEST! - Project Goldie Engine Install Trilogy Pt. 2
I built a 700 HP-capable LS7 starting with a Katech short block and it's finally time to see if I'm ready for the biggest test yet of my (limited) mechanical ability.

This Became a FIGHT! - Project Goldie Engine Install Trilogy Pt. 1
มุมมอง 20K21 วันที่ผ่านมา
I'm racing a deadline to get Goldie, my C6 Z06 back on the road before the anniversary of losing her original LS7 due to a dropped exhaust valve (I should have gotten the heads fixed). I built the new LS7 myself starting with a Katech short block and now it's time for a new clutch and some fancy motor mounts.
It Took Me a YEAR to Build This Engine
มุมมอง 81Kหลายเดือนก่อน
Goldie, my C6 Z06, has been down and out for yearly a year and it's taken me that long to finally build her replacement engine: A monster 700-horsepower Katech LS7. If you're planning to build an LS-Series Engine I highly recommend the book I used to guide me: amzn.to/3wfsyi3

My C6 Z06 is getting a fresh LS7, but I want it to be bullet-proof before I go back to the race track.
Starting My First Engine Build! (No Pressure)
มุมมอง 11Kหลายเดือนก่อน
I finally have the parts I need to begin assembling the Katech LS7 for my GT3-Killer C6 Z06, but do I have everything I need?
While I'm in there...

Exactly how much is it going to cost me to replace my LS7, even after I've bought a new motor?
My first engine build has me SCARED.

There is a very large box sitting in my garage that I've been afraid to open for the last three months.
It's taking FOREVER to replace my blown engine.

Pulling My Blown Engine
มุมมอง 30K10 หลายเดือนก่อน
It's time to pull the blown LS7 engine out of Goldie, my GT3-Killer C6 Z06 Corvette. The only problem is, I've never pulled a motor before. Help us get Ruth the foster dog adopted (in the Atlanta area): angelsrescue.org/pets/?id=60525036
Making the Best of a $20000 Mistake
มุมมอง 28K11 หลายเดือนก่อน
It's time to figure out what to do next with my blown LS7 and I need to find out whether I cracked the block when I dropped an exhaust valve at the track. If I'm building a GT3-Killer out of my 2007 Corvette Z06 I'll need a proper engine, but there are a lot of choices!
“Get your heads fixed!” The internet was RIGHT?
มุมมอง 85K11 หลายเดือนก่อน
Every Corvette enthusiast who's set foot on the internet has heard about the dropped exhaust valve issue that the LS7 is famous for. But is that what happened to Goldie? I blew my motor on the track and it's finally time to tear it down and find out what happened.

A mechanic relative of mine had a close friend and business partner, also a master mechanic, who he wanted to open up a mechanic shop with. One day my relative told me he got crushed under a car while doing a job alone. He got hired as an independent contractor to work at a European car dealership I won't say which brand. Anyway the job was on a "slammed" car. The car was also outside in an area of the dealership which had no camera anywhere that could see him on the side of the vehicle he was working under. The dealership refused to let him use his own personal jack or jack stands. I don't remember the exact details as to why he didn't have jack stands under the car because my relative swore he would never ever work like. Well guess what, that dealer jack gave out and crushed him so flat my relative couldn't even identify his body at the morgue. He had no close family who cared for him in that area. The ones he did have just used him and took advantage of him while he was alive. Oh but you can bet his relatives were quick to get a hold of his work truck. As his business partner my relative had access to his other tools including a very very expensive car scanner and some other expensive equipment. The guy didn't even have a house to live in but you can bet his tools were top notch. My relative was devastated. He still uses that scanner ever time he diagnoses a vehicle. Moral of the story is always take your precautions. You can never be too safe. Never compromise your safety. USE YOUR JACK STANDS!

Keep up the great work on the car and the storytelling, it's fantastic. Also, you'll know when you graduate from beginner to intermediate mechanic, you'll know what to do instead of being lost or not having a clue, it takes time, especially since you're not a pro technician that does it day in and day out. I've been doing DIY mechanic work for 19 years, and honestly, a pro technician that's been in a shop for only 3 or 4 years has more experience than I do, especially if they're in an independent shop. Also, when I did my clutch in my E36 328i, I used 4 or 5 one foot long extensions to reach the top 2 or 3 bolts on the bellhousing. I hope someone that watches this that has a C6 drops and installs the engine from the bottom with the torque tube attached, I imagine that it took at least 2 hours of struggling and adjusting everything.

Holy crap 227 comments in 4 days. Man this channel should have 100k subs! Josh are you going to do any aero, or more track oriented coilovers, slicks setup?

    • @JoshVanVeld
      @JoshVanVeld 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

At the moment the plan is *maybe* coilovers. No aero, no slicks. I want a clean looking street car that can clean most GT3 clocks at the track. So much of the track part comes down to driver skill. All that said, I imagine I will find myself wanting to go faster and faster, so I don’t want to say that any plans are set in stone.

Not saying the literal word deadline. It took me forever to get over. Lol.
