RIP Fruit Striped Gum. My husband was so sad when that was permanently cancelled!
I hate GenXers.
you forgot the tron toys from the movie
An incredibly hard to find movie "hearts and armor" had Tanya Roberts in a small role, was actually pretty quirky good..
I’m from New England, lollipops are called lollipops and soda is called tonic. Get it right. Thanks.
Spot on . Great video
Appreciate that. Thank you for watching.
As an 80s kid, I watched and loved everything you showed here. What's sad is today's attempts to dive into this genre, they are unable to capture the magic (pun intended) that drew us in and made us fall in love.
You're 100% correct. Even if they want to, the stars are no longer aligned so they end up making something that can never compare.
Wow! Those prices back then!
Hurts to see and hear, doesn't it?
Thank you!📺🦃🥧
SO glad you enjoyed some Thanksgiving love.
properly powdered and perfumed
I have seen Beastmaster. I didn't know they made two sequels. I was surprised to see Ladyhawke mentioned. I like that film and also Excalibur. Highlander was later done as a TV series.
Wanted the good, the bad, and the ugly. They are all related, so picked some of the best and worst. HOpe you enjoyed it.
Gary Gygax admitted he gimped the magic user class on purpose in favor of all the melee classes such as Fighters, Paladins, Rangers, and Rogues. He thought the magic user class was too OP so he put restrictions on them such as the restriction that a magic user class cannot wear metal armor, and had few hit points, all of which made the class easier to kill.
He had it in for them, didn't he?
Oh WOW, that was wonderful! The only thing that was different at my house was, I was the only genXer in the entire huge family, and we only had one bathroom. Throughout the years, most of my family have passed away, but Thanksgiving and Christmas are just as huge now at my house. I now have five sons and three dear friends from high school who have their own families. Because my house is a central point for everyone, my friends of 40 years bring their families, and all my boys who sometimes bring their friends are all here for those two extraordinarily meaningful holidays. I'm particularly excited for Thanksgiving this year. I'm not sure why this year is feeling super special. Maybe my hormones are at good levels or something but I'll take it for all it's worth. I consider myself extremely blessed to be surrounded by such a gathering.
Just laughing on the hormones comment, lol. You should be excited, it sounds like you have the perfect brood of guests and possible guests. I never take a full house for granted. It makes it special. I do hope the best Holiday for you. By the way, We had 13 living in hone house with 2 bathrooms, so I know your pain.
Did anybody notice in the Penuts advert, Franklin was sitting on his own , with 4 sitting on the other side of the table?
Yes, I think it is a widely discussed, adn possibly exaggerated conversation. I am sure it was just easier to animate and nothing malicious....especially after Franklin got some love with that awesome hand shake greeting he gave Chuck.
In "The Beastmaster", it's not a panther, it's a tiger, that's been dyed black. =)>
I said that....in the video...a few beats after saying panther
Roger that. Hehehe
I'm old enough to have owned the old ZX Spectrum version of Barbarian with Wolf and Maria Whittaker on the cover of the tape box.
That is a rare find indeed.
It was already great to see someone coming out with a new collection of reminders of how much Thanksgiving used to be so dang important and as much as Christmas and Halloween. But the fact that the FIRST one you played was one that had freaking LAST TRAIN HOME as its background theme... INSTANT LIKE from me, Man. Like, what a perfect way to start this thing off! 😁👍👍
Planned well, my friend. Publix (grocer in the SE) has made some great Thanksgiving commercials for years. This being the first that I know of, and perfect with Metheny's music. I had to alter for copyright reasons, but that feel is still there. Thank you for enjoying.
I've always thought Dragonslayer was the best of the 80s fantasy. Glad you mention it!
It is such a great watch. Thank you
This was the last of the existence of the real America which is absolutely dead now. There is only nostalgia left of our past. Now we must deal with modernity which is an absolute blight upon humanity.
Nostalgia is what I live off of
We don't see any thanksgiving commercials
These days
Uh, no...that's why we need these, am I right,
Vox Machina?
It is certainly fantasy; new fantasy, and for a very niche audience since not released in mass market media. It seems to cover many different subgenres of fantasy, but a bit too new for 80s Animated Fantasy. Appreciate it though.
Sixlets were my favorite. Those little candy coated chocolate orbs. I still come across them from time to time and grab them when I do find them. Usually in the Dollar Tree.
Hey U missed Ator the Fighting Eagle with Myles O'Keefe'/!!!
I do remember seeing that come up, but just not room for everything this time. Thanks
Oh to have those prices back again! The memories are wonderful and priceless!! Thanks for posting.
lol, no kidding. That is nice to remember. Glad you enjoyed.
My favorite of all of those mentioned has to be Lady Hawk.
Such an underrated treasure.
Thanksgiving was one of my favorite holidays. My grandfather worked in a 5 star hotel restaurant when he was a teenager during the depression and learned from the gourmet chefs and became a popular cook in the Navy (one old vet I talked to at his funeral told me he could even make SOS taste good). He cooked everything for Thanksgiving, all home made including the croissants. He shot the turkey himself and all the vegetables came from his garden including the sweet potatoes for the pie. The only thing that was store bought was the cranberry sauce which he always apologized for when he plopped it out of the can. My cousin and I would fight over who got second (and sometimes third) helpings of his stuffing until he started making extra outside of the bird. I almost (almost) enjoyed Thanksgiving more than Christmas. Thanks for the memories.
I make these so people can recall and reflect...and hopefully share. I loved your story and appreciate the memories you spread. Thanks for watching.
Excalibur was the best.
FANTASTIC
I laughed so much at this! We definitely had similar experiences. Well written! Thx.
Thanks a bunch. Good to know I am not alone. Glad you enjoyed.
The thing I miss the most is how big Thanksgivings were then compared to how small they are now in our family. We've lost so many and nothing can replace them. What we're left with are memories. Thanks for this great video, hope everyone out there has a Great holiday.
What an awesome sentiment...and true. I have a HUGE family, but that isn't how it is done anymore. Whether they are lost or spread out, each have their own traditions, even when I try to keep mine from my past alive. Luckily I have in laws and a small handful to fill my house each year. Thank you for sharing. Happy Holidays.
@@GENXPERIENCE I was born into a big "old" family meaning I had greats and grands and great aunts and uncles. Now they're all gone, even my Mom. We're struggling to keep the traditions alive but there's just not many people, a handful of friends too, thankfully! Keep up the great work and your channel is awesome.
@@lilitharam44 You are kind, thank you....I don't want to think about losing everyone (although it has already started). I try to keep it going, no matter the number...we'll see how I do. THank you
Oh, I loved this!!!❤❤❤ Took me waaay back! FOTOMAT! OMG!!! There’s so many things you made me remember, and I thank you for that. Warm fuzzies 🧸 from great memories. I love your videos. They always make me smile!😊🦃💖💖💖Happy Thanksgiving!
I worked at the photo counter in High School. What a time, thinking it just couldn't get better than this. Happy you enjoyed.
The D is for Detroit. Dallas just happens to start w/ a D.😂
I see what you're doing, lol. And Dallas continues to suck this season.
Well, I usually reserve my first sentimental tears for holiday commercials but this year your video got that award. Thank you❤
Yes! Success. I love to do that. Seriously, that is a compliment, thank you
We would go to the elementary school down the road to borrow 3 tables. There were at least 4 turkeys cooked and eaten because my grandparents had 18 children. The old farm house would have over 50 people sitting around eating, watching Ohio State battle Michigan State, and the Uncles in the "Michigan Basement" playing poker and eating left-over turkey sandwiches. Playing in the dairy barn and running around the 80 acre dairy farm. Great times. I am the last year of the Baby-Boomers so these were the 1970's.
Still sounds familiar (there is always bleed over). As the youngest of 11 kids, we always had such a big holiday (maybe not your size, lol), but it meant the world to me. Thank you for sharing some great memories of your holiday life.
What a wonderful video! Thinking about all of those fun memories was great! I especially loved the use of the Folgers commercial that makes me tear up every time.
Thank you. That commercials is special to me, too. Funny how they can do that.
OF COURSE I MEANT JOHN MADDEN, OMG. I can't believe I said Steve Madden. That is so me to let something like that slip without noticing. Well, I am sure everyone who hears will understand what I meant. It was late, REALLY. Guess you will have to watch to see what the HE** I'm talking about. Thanks for pointing it out, and for watching.
There are Macy's Thanksgiving Day parades with commercials from the 80s right here on this site. It's so comfy to watch them. And I remember those decorations you showed very clearly.
I have them on often...make me very warm and cozy. Thank you for watching.
Wow, these are my Thanksgiving memories too! I'd add Mom had her camera in one hand while she made the meal in the other. The camera was in everybody's face and family members would walk away or cover their face when she tried to take a picture. Drove everyone bonkers at the time, but it's awfully fun looking back at those pictures today.
YOur mother and mine were cut from the same cloth in regard to cameras. I followed suit, always snapping pictures (even Editor of yearbook in HS, lol). Thank you for watching and your true comments.
Another winner! 🎶 Memories....🎶 🥹😢
Memory lane...should be my nickname. Thank you for the comment.
another good video , had me thinking of times past . thank you
Yeah, I get super sentimental at the holidays. Thanks for watching.
Accurate! Thank you!
I like this comment. SImple and real. Thank you
Happy Thanksgiving! Growing up in an apartment in NYC, we had no dining room and a tiny kitchen, so our solution to family get togethers was our Castro Convertible table. From a coffee table, expanded to a dining table that seated 8-10 people. I loved when this thing was set up and the folding chairs were brought up from the basement. Thankfully there was more than one TV at our place, so I could watch cartoons and stay out of my mom and older sister's way, when I wasn't sticking my head in the kitchen doorway asking when dinner was going to be ready. Good memories. Now it's cooking for myself, and watching the parade and the Hallmark channel all day. Thanks for the videos, Victor! Have a great holiday!
Steve madden?? I think you mean john madden 😂
OMG....that is ridiculous of me. NOW EVERYONE IS GOING TO ATTACK ME, lol. I hope people are as smart as you and know what I meant. THanks
THE LAST Thanksgiving Show this season. A sentimental journey I hope you stick with me through before next week...WHEN WE RETURN TO TOYS! Thanks for watching.
I didn't have any Shogun Warriors toys, but I read and re-read the Shogun Warriors comic books!
Better than me. I had no media for it.
Not necessarily "Holloween" what were those pink candies with XXX on top? They tasted like Pepto B.
Former CPS here. I can guarantee that the majority of all Amber alerts you receive is going to be a custody dispute. Ransom kidnapping practically ceased to exist. The FBI has become too good at tracking and catching kidnappers. But they aren't going to put any effort into a divorced couple deciding to keep their kid from the other parent or an unauthorized vacation. Every home practically has a camera or a Ring doorbell that records everything. A kid getting kidnapped by a stranger is such a rarity that it will make national news. Now, child endangerment calls are all from Karens who have too much time on their hands. You can't even leave your 8yr old kid outside in your front lawn or one would send a report to the office.
Very well done, me 58, played AD&D in the late 1970s and got my friends into it.
Way to go. I am slightly younger, and was always intrigued. I actually loved looking through and reading all the illustrated guides/books/etc.
These were one of the best parts of my childhood
So glad you watched. I always kept them and flipped through them, DREAMIN
@GENXPERIENCE I have to say it's kind of weird knowing I'm not the only person that does that
