This is all in fun folks, but it is something that I thought would be a good idea for some time. Enjoy the silly good time about MY FAVORITE 80s Franchise...MOTU.
@@GENXPERIENCE Lol. I thought the same thing about Snout Spout, too. When i was collecting figures. I didn't even want that one. But I got it any way. They probably made faker blue. S0, when kids played with it. They wouldn't think it was He-Man.
I always liked my faker figure, although he was just another of Skeletors cronies in my storylines. He never tried to kid anyone into thinking he was He-Man.
I had the OG Stinkor as a kid- I still have him. My experience was that the stink lasted YEARS. He still carries a bit of it. He made my whole toy drawer smell. Heck, some of my old toys STILL carry a bit of “eau de Stinkor.”
My vintage Stinkor still smells a little, but my Origins one (which removed the smell entirely in European regions) has a little sticky-pad with a drop of patchouli oil inside his armour.
They'd added the scent into the plastic instead of just coating him, that's they it lasted so long. They did the same with Moss Man. Gen here must have gotten a bad one because Mine alos lasted for years and still had it when it ended up in a garage sale
When I was a kid, I always imagined Skeletor created Faker as an adversary to He-man but also to mock He-man. He wasn't necessary supposed to fool anyone.
This really took me back. Christmas 1982 was the first Christmas I was old enough to remember and my parents went nuts with MOTU. It became like an all-day thing between opening my gifts and my dad putting stuff together, and then us playing with everything. And they were right, it was emblazoned upon my memory forever. I still get that same happy, excited feeling I did that morning when I watch videos like these. Some of the characters were truly absurd, but even though I knew that at the time, I loved the silliness of it. There was room in the MOTU universe for some really dark storytelling but also lighthearted comedy as well.
Great comment, and thank you. Regarding the dark content...if they could ever do a live action movie right, they should at least straddle that line of more adult...just don't go crazy outside of the brand, am I right?
A cybernetic monstrosity of a mount with a buttox blaster? Battlecat is screwed....And then head-chomped. 😂 OH! And @GENXPERIENCE, don't worry. I believe King Hiss eventually caved and adopted a Tyrantisaurus Rex for a mount... Pretty sure he leaves picking up the poop to Squeeeze though. He's a good pet. Their adventures together can be found on old Tyrantisaurus box art, minicomics, and the latest Wrath of Snake Mountain board game expansion set.
Moss Man lost his pine scent within a year because it was just perfume. But stinkor's patchouli persists to this day because it's literally part of the plastic
I grew up with those toys and I love the 1980s because there was no such thing as a "bad idea." Did they have bad ideas, yes, but they would try anything and the "MOTU" series was the prime example of this, and i mean that in the best way possible. Great video!
The exploding feature was used by a few other toy lines, including the Crash Dummies (naturally) and Kenner's Terminator 2 and Aliens lines, with the T-1000 and Scorpion Alien, respectively, going to pieces at the push of a button. None of these required an external plunger, though, so the technology clearly advanced after Blast-Attak.
Mattel also used the same action feature with the Bravestarr playsets (for example, to make the bank vault explode). The detonator cord is identical to the one that came with Blast-Attak.
@@Fauntleroy. I do remember my Moss Man keeping his smell for years (that pledge), but eventually I am pretty sure it just smelling like the rest, but that could be my brain, lol. Love the comments.
Hearing the phrase "The cartoon got it right" is wild to me, because I don't think that cartoon got anything right. The cartoon and the mini comics in the beginning may as well have been two different IPs.
In the BEGINNING they certainly were different. I loved those first 4. But as you know, they became more in line. Saying the cartoon got SOMETHING right is not that far fetched.
The cartoon created the iconic transformation sequence. Ask anyone over 40 about He-Man, and chances are they will yell the "I Have the Power!" catchphrase. Filmation deserves credit for that alone, as it really resonated with children. They also created a lot of lore for MOTU, which significantly helped flesh out the characters and the story. They were very bare bones in the original comics.
Christmas of 82. My mom couldn't find He-Man in stores, so she grabbed Faker. He was my He-Man for a few months. Also, Stinkor and Moss Man both smelled pretty good.
Faker was almost the first MOTU figure I ever got. My mom said that I could have the blue He-Man or the He-Man with the plane(Wind Raider). Of course I took the set. 😁
Wow. I don't remember most of these. I was all-in on Transformers in 84, and He-Man mostly stayed in the toybox after that. Prince Adam should have gotten an honorable mention.
PA as an honorable mention might have been a great idea. Although I liked a lot of toylines, and had a few, TF was the fan favorite after MOTU, as well.
I’m so glad you said my 10 not yours! People kill me in the comments when they say what about this person or what about this person. I’m always thinking it’s there opinion and list not yours
@@Mike_oliver1313 It annoys me when I see comments that start with "You forgot..." on list videos. I don't know why the assumption is "forgotten" over excluded on purpose.
I always assumed that Faker being blue was for our (the outside observer) benefit, to easily see the difference between him and the real He-Man and that the other characters saw him as identical to He-Man.
I remember those 2 toylines, but was out of getting toys...I didn't know they had caps. That is SO COOL. Glad they were still getting use. Thanks for sharing that.
@GENXPERIENCE Yeah, the COPS toys were bigger, so they put the caps in the weapons. The Robocop figures took the caps in them and had a trigger on their backs. They both used paper rolls instead of plastic rings, though.
Had most of these on the list, not my first choices at the store but usually what was left on the shelves so i had to get something., They were still a blast to play with, great stuff my man!
@GENXPERIENCE Funny thing was Freddy WAS going to do this to a Dream Warrior boy turned gargoyle as his power in original Elm Street 3 script. Caught in Freddy net trying to escape. Would have looked atrocious. 😸
My grandmother bought me Thunderpunch He-Man, and I almost died I was so happy. This really took me back, and reminded me of that lovely woman. Thanks.
Man that Strawberry Shortcake shirt 😂. I need one to troll my sister. Yep almost 50 and still picking on her!😂 Side note, my buddy and I got busted sneaking out one night because before we left we were setting off those capgun strips in my room and my mom later came to check what we were doing because of the smell 😂
First, I LOVE THE cap gun sneak out story. Now that's living. Yeah, I just have a handful of whatever Pop Culture of the Era shirts to wear...and it's always a topic of conversation, lol. Men's Dept at Target. Oh, and picking on siblings should never end, am I right?
lol...You know I mean no real harm. Faker has his place, I just remember wondering how anyone could confuse the "imposter" of He-Man. Thanks for the kind words, I do appreciate it.
I love that he got more time and attention for sure. I like the character overall...just not much after that smell disepates...at least for the toy. Thanks for the watch and comment. I do appreciate it.
I think they made two versions of those, the one I got smelled so strong that I put it in a drawer at night... the dang drawer got the smell! Lol! And later when I stored him with my figures, they all got the smell too!! That thing was crazy!
@@GENXPERIENCE after this, I literally picked up the Masterverse Stinkor at a toy show today for $15 CAD... I don't know if he has the smell, but I love my bro! 😆
Thank you for the watch the subscribe. To be fair, as a kid the only ones I thought were ridiculous was Faker, Rotar and Twistoid. Looking back, only those few more...but MOTU is my love for life. Thanks again.
I had both Modulok and Multibot and I didn't regret getting either. I did like the idea that one action figure could sort of be used as a upgrade or an add-on to another one. With both I just felt like you got a lot of bang for your buck, so to say, with all the different parts and the comparably big box they came in. I grew up in West Germany in the 80s and 90s and in Germany audio plays were and still are huge. They are almost to Germany what Manga is to Japan, in some ways. I think that phenomenon is a byproduct of the fact that in Germany all foreign movies get dubbed, so you have that big dubbing and voice-over industry, with tons of voice actors and it makes sense that they would produce audio plays in between dubbing movies. Of course MotU had a audio play series too. They even sometimes bundled the action figures with cassettes with an audio play on it. I think there were 46 regular episodes, each about 40 minutes in length and a few special promo episodes that weren't really part of the lore of the regular series, like one where a kid of earth is magically transported to Eternia and meets He-Man and the other heroes. The series was written by a fairly successful German science fiction author and had a great cast of voice actors and they really put a lot of effort into characterization and expanding the lore beyond the cartoon. You can imagine, with 46 times 40 minutes of runtime and the nature of the medium and genre making it very dialogue heavy, you inevitably get a lot more character development and generally just character definition from such a series of audio plays than you can get from a cartoon. One big difference to the cartoon was how they really leaned into Prince Adam being a lazy, spoiled coward and how Teela didn't know that he is He-Man and she would constantly be frustrated and annoyed by Adam, while still loving him like a little brother. The series never really explains why he keeps it a secret from her while her father Man-At-Arms knows about it, which is a big plot hole, but I never minded it as a kid because it led to many funny and sometimes touching situations. Also a bunch of side characters get their own origin stories. For example, in the series Trap-Jaw originally was a good guy, a talented engineer who was horribly injured when he saved a child from being run over by Land Shark and then was turned into a evil cyborg by Skeletor. Also, Beast Man, who is portrayed as a slow idiot and the but of many jokes in the series, originally was a genius scientist who was dumbed down and then enslaved by Skeletor through magical means. In one episode Webstor, who is kind of a reluctant ally to Skeletor, finds out about that, is appalled and then tries helping Beast Man regain his freedom and get his mind back. There is also a lot of interesting stuff happening between the characters, like for example that Merman is not one of Skeletors minions, but more of a rival who sometimes teams up with Skeletor, but also sometimes fights him. There is even an episode where Merman tries flooding all of Eternia and He-Man and Skeletor team up to stop him. A interesting episode with He-Man and Skeletor going on an underwater adventure together. Orko also plays a huge role in the series. He is pretty much the second most important character after He-Man and might actually have even more dialogue than He-Man. He is a little different from the cartoon version in that he also is not a very good magician but he is a full of himself braggart who thinks he is the greatest, while still being sympathetic and having a heart of gold. Ouch, what a tangent. I digressed to talking about those audio plays because I wanted to say that in them, Modulok is a really powerful and scary monster and so powerful actually that even He-Man can't face him in an open fight and has to use trickery to defeat him. That did a lot to make the figure appealing to me. (The point of this whole diatribe.) He wasn't just another random minion, he was something even He-Man kind of feared. Well, more respected than feared, I guess. He does fight him, but he shouts at the other heroes that they should flee because he probably won't be able to win that fight and just wants to buy them time by fighting anyways. Multi-Bot only appears in one episode, but he is a really weird character, because he isn't even really a evil henchman. In the audio play he is a scientist who time travels back from the future to warn everyone of a great danger. By the way, there is also an episode where they discover that there is an Anti Eternia which is ruled by a evil Anti He-Man and He-Man and Skeletor have to team up a second time to defeat him. Unfortunately there is no good Anti Skeletor showing up in that episode, hehe. The reason I mention that here is that my buddy and me played Faker rather as Anti He-Man, even though that wasn't quite fitting because in the audio play Anti He-Man is described as having pitch black skin and red hair.
Hello and thank you so much for the view adn comment. I am sure all those pieces with both figures could be a lot of fun. Let me also say that U.S. fans are keenly aware of the GERMAN love for all things MOTU. It's legendary. What I did not is why, and perhaps those Radio Plays are the reason. They sounded exciting and although we weren't doing much of that here at the time, I think I would really enjoy them. Sounds like the stories did mix up a little but also brought in some very interesting takes on the narrative. Sure sounds like there was so much more MOTU over there than here. I appreciate your detailed story of this era and your admiration of the brand. Thank you again.
@@GENXPERIENCE Thanks for being patient and taking the time to read that long mess of a comment, hehe. I didn't know that German MotU fans have a reputation. My hypothesis for why it probably was more popular in Germany than in the USA is: A: Indeed the audio plays might have played a role. I bet there were kids who got those cassettes first and then were enticed into buying the toys. B: More importantly though, I think it was mostly because we just had way less choice than American kids. Only a small fraction of the US toy lines made it to Germany and outside of "Playmobil", there weren't really any German made action figure toy lines comparable to stuff like MotU. I'm not even sure whether it is true, but I heard that in Germany too "militaristic" toys are forbidden, which would explain why some toy lines like G.I. Joe never were sold in Germany. But even among the more science fiction and fantasy based ones, only a small percentage ever made it to the German market. Another, lesser factor might also be that stuff was way more expensive here in Germany. I was shocked when I learned as an adult that Castle Greyskull only cost 25 US Dollars in the States. In Germany it cost like 250 Deutschmarks, which back then were about 125 US Dollars. Most of the stuff seems to have been 5 times more expensive in Germany than it was in the USA and that on top of Germans generally having less money than Americans. My point being that the hobby, if you can call it that, was way more expensive to German kids, which means our toy collections were a lot smaller and because of that we probably appreciated the fewer toys we had more and had more of a emotional bond to them than American kids. I always was flabbergasted and jealous as a little boy when I watched Hollywood movies like "The Goonies", "E.T." or "Poltergeist" and saw that American boys had their bedrooms basically filled from floor to ceiling with action figures and other toys. Despite basically spending all my money (which I got for Christmas and birthdays) on that stuff, I never really had more than maybe 4 shoe boxes full of toys, not counting Castle Greyskull and the Fright Zone, my only 2 action figure toy line play sets. So much of the stuff was just totally out of my reach and utterly unobtainable, despite my parents being middle class and having decent jobs. I still remember how I sat on my bedroom floor with a notebook and a pen, calculating how many Christmases and birthdays I would have to save up to be able to afford the "Dino Riders Tyrannosaurus Rex", lol. I would have sold my soul, taken on a mortgage or sold a kidney to get my hands on one of those. Long story short, I think if I would have had a much bigger toy collection and a lot more choice from different toy lines, MotU wouldn't have played as big of a role in my childhood and wouldn't trigger as strong nostalgic feelings now. I still remember what a magical feeling it was when I found them under the Christmas tree or got them as a birthday present or was able to successfully beg my mother into buying me one at the local toy store, with most of the figures and play sets I had.
It is so nice to hear someone else say that. You read and hear so many people say 1982, but that might have been official, but there was early release in Christmas 1981 (including foreign markets) but there I was opening both the MOTU Heavyweights. It was incredible, new, awesome. Thanks for watching and chiming in.
0:45 There were only 72 vintage MOTU figures? Not as many as I expected. I had just three. I was born a little too late for MOTU. They were present on the playground, but were just about to be supplanted by the next big thing, my main nostalgic childhood franchise; The Transformers. The Filmation style of the MOTU cartoon already seemed dated to me back then, when compared to other sci-fi fantasy series like Thundercats, Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers, or The Mighty Orbots. I do have enough fondness for the characters to have a small MOTU collection though. 5 Origins figures, plus the main cast from the Club Greyskull Ultimates (cartoon style) line. Just missing Evil-Lyn. 😬
I still love how you honor them and that small connection you had to them. Yeah, there were not as many MOTU as GI JOE or Transformers. I was there for their debut so I have a big emotional connection. Transformers came out 2 years later, and they did take over my love, too. Thanks for watching and sharing.
I was the older brother who used to play He-Man and use what we now call "meta humor".... Faker would interact with the good guys and only Stratos could see that he was blue and try to warn everyone and they'd be like "are you blue?" to Faker and he'd be like "No. I am happy!"... Heheh!
Dude, Hordak's preying mantis had a huge advantage. If Battle Cat and Panthor were in heat, Hordak's ride could let then ride a bit then rip off their heads.😅
1. Faker - I “decided” that Eternians were colour blind. 2. Terror Claws Skeletor - I kitbash my Origins CropTop Skelly with sneakers etc and made my own character, “SkeleGay” (who created Faker, his stand-in for He-Man Lover). I’m queer irl, so it’s not as offensive as it sounds. :-) 3. Who woulda thought we’d all grow up to miss the sound (and smell) of caps. 4. Come THROUGH Drag Race Dragstor (never had this one). The time has come to Lip Sync For the POWER. 5. What are MOTU Tops without MOTU Bottoms? (Dated a MOTU Bottom, once - but I’m more if a MOTU Side). Loved the video - that was fun!
There were only about 15 MOTU figures that I didn't have, during their initial run. Mostly toward the end, when they were sort of running their course, and other properties like TMNT captured my imagination. But I loved my MOTU collection above all in the 80s. I even had (and still have) the brown haired He-Man variant that would become (erroneously) known as 'Wonder Bread He-Man,' which my parents sent away for right after I first starting collecting MOTU in 1983. For decades, I had no idea of all the myths surrounding that particular mail-in figure, but I did always think it was an odd figure just because it was almost like a more competent Faker. haha I have my own pet theories about where it came from, and why Mattel chose to dump it off-market, but that's a whole other story.
Wow, Wonder Bread? That's amazeballs. We were in no condition to be mailing away...and I'd be too impatient, anyway. Thanks for the comment. I'll always love the MOTU brand.
Thanks for commenting, and I am glad you loved them. Skeletor's gimmick was fun (moving hands), but the idea that this was an awesome Skeletor power was a bit ridiculous. OH, and Dragstor and Blast Attack are fun...but they can be absurd at the same time.
I always called him "Hose Nose" because that's what She-Ra called him on the cartoon. I wonder if that was a working name for the character before they decided that "Snout Spout" was slightly less awful and changed it after the lines had already been recorded.
@@Fauntleroy. You are correct of course. I remember him in the store as Snout Spout, and thought it was just a nickname in the show...but I did see She Ra a bit late as it didn't play immediately in my podunk town, lol.
King Hiss would find hiss place on my lisst. His minions were great. But, the king of the snakes, himself? I just did not like that figure. Total crap. Oh, and my favorites were Trap Jaw, Two Bad and Rattlor 😉
Thanks for the comment. You know the more I think of hisss, I see your point. Like I loved the release of the human shell gimick, but sometimes that's not enough if the figure is ridiculous in other ways. Thanks for watching, and I too love Ratlor.
I liked Stinkor and Snout Spout. It made sense that Moss Man defeated Stinkor in the toy comic. I liked your explanation on Snout Spout for why you didn't care for him, but I don't think it's that big of a deal if elephants exist on Eternia, considering all of the other earth-type creatures that do. Faker was mid. Never wanted him, but would have imagined a scenario for him if I had him. Very much in line with Shadow the Hedgehog, Venom, Evil Ryu, Bizarro, etc. I agree with all of your other down votes.
Thanks for the great comment. Yes, I could do with Faker, just thought a bit absurd, but not useless, lol. However, I would take all the figures if I could back then. Appreciate your view and comment.
Love the video, but the Masters of the Universe line launched in 1982, not 1981. The problem is that Mattel always copyrighted their toys the previous year of their release, so the mistake is understandable. Their updated logo (with the diagonal MATTEL across the black circle) began in 1970, but all the toys that year were stamped copyright 1969. You can check on this fact right now, go to your local store and find a Hot Wheels car package that says "NEW FOR 2024." Look at the back and it will read copyright 2023.
I know that is other official date, but I got mine in Christmas 1981. So I still believe it was an early release as they had done with some in other countries.
You are the 2nd commenter to validate what WE already knew. It is funny, no one can convince me I DIDN"T get those in 1981, even if official in 82...81 was a memorable Christmas. Thanks for the comment.
I have 3 vintage Stinkors.....2 carded and mine from when I was a kid that I played with..... I'll be 50 next year and ALL 3 STILL smell to this day.......I've never run across a Stinkor that lost it's smell.
I've seen those Tops characters in toy shops and shows, i never knew they were MotU.. crazy. I kinda drifted away from MotU after the movie. Not because of the movie, lol, i was just getting into new things
I can understand not seeing them as MOTU, I certainly didn't. The MOTU movie was there last hurrah for me. I was too old for toys (at that time, lol), and the movie was just a ball of crazy. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Loved and still do Faker. Dragstor and blast attack also saw a lot of play in my house. My LEAST favorite would probably be Rio Blast! Which is weird cuz I like westerns now but didn’t then. Either way fun video and they’re all still great but yes some are very ridiculous. 😁
THanks for the comment. Just a reminder, I mean no ill will, lol. I am a fan, and love MOTU. Just mentioning some of the more ridiculous. Funny, though...I thought Rio Blast was the man...even if hiding guns in his thighs, etc. So I didn't mention him. Again, appreciate your view and comment. Please come back soon.
A big issue I have with the new MOTU toys is they hardly do action features. I guess collectors like having a mekanek that can be displayed with his neck extended but I hate that you have to switch parts and not twist it up.
I agree. Even simple ones for Fisto and Jitsu. But I feel like they still could have done it...I would have bought them, for sure. Thanks for dropping a line.
I had blast-attak years back and also Saurod as well which our mother brought us from her trip in italy! We asked he to see if she can find something to bring us from there since was another country.I always wanted he-man & skeletor in my collection since you know were the first protagonists you can think, but never had the chance for one of the characters we wanted the most! We always had the most obscure characters in the motu line besides LJN's thundercats which at least there we had 2 lion oh's at least.Because i was never see blast-attak in the series was completely weird to me,but also lame with a pretty unique and also awkward power! Blow up himself with a wire behind his back which was like a syringe in the button!?! What kind of an idea is that?! i thought when i first look at it in my hands it was some kind of a boiler robot thing that was blown up to help the evil ones!!! And saurod that was spitting sparks from his mouth was ok i guess close to blast-attak but absent from the series,at least he was in the feature film! I still remember the first time i understood which character was from the film that had also a really small run time before skeletor kick his tail and this made me really glad i have him! Well this day at least with the origins line we had a second chance for a scareglow and not only! Worth mention that scareglow was one of the figures i wanted like mad man from the past! 😉
Thank you so much, this is great stuff. I love your comment and stories of getting the toys when you were younger. Yeah, Blast Attack...WTF? right, lol. I was just passing my "playtime" when Saurod came out. I loved seeing the movie (as bad as it kinda was), but would have loved him AND Blade.
In regards to Faker, the designers for him knew that other toy comp anies were gonna make knock-offs, so they "beat them to the punch" by making the 1st knock-off He-Man figure themselves.
That toy was pure evil. The first time I used it, my dog heard it and got pissed. He was part German Shepherd. I thought it was funny so I snapped it again and the dog attacked the figure and took it from me! It was under the kitchen table and all the time I tried to get it back, the dog would snarl and turn into a hell hound. Freaked the hell out of me. That toy was under the table for a week!
Since in Germany we had our original MotU Audioplays, some of the ridiculous ones had a better backstory. Snout Spout was an alien and not one-of-a-kind cyborg. The Dragonblaster was a lone dragon pup that Skeletor enslaved. Multibot was the "sole" survivor of another universe. Mantisaur was introduced after Hordak nearly destroyed all of Eternia with giant Monsterinsects. For Stinkor the 200X Cartoon origin is best, making him more of a Gollum & Captain America mix. But you right the spinning top figures are to out there, but not in good way.
lol, thanks for sharing this. I have always been interested in the Audioplays...and I need to find them and just give them a listen. It is nice to hear the more exciting and expanded stories for the characters and world. Thank you so much.
Out of the He-Man figures besides the original I only liked Battle Armour. Thunder Punch I didn't care for and Flying Fists looked as odd as Terror Tube Top Skeletor. My favorites are... Buzz Off Roboto Man-E-Faces Stinkor Faker Fisto (because he resembled Chuck Norris) Spikor Moss Man Trap Jaw Also am I the only one who thought that He-Man had some pretty lackluster warriors on his team?
I should have trusted my gut, and put flying fists there...but I LOVED Battle Armor, too. AWESOME. Great list of those favorites. The Heroic Warriors were often pretty dull, to be sure. Thanks for the great comment.
I found my old Kobra Khan figure in a crawlspace when cleaning out my old stuff from my parents' house a few years ago. It still had water in it. I tasted the water and did not die. Yet.
I had Stinkor when he first came out. Even after he was melted in a fire (20 years later), u tell the black melted blob of plastic was Stinkor. He still stan 😅k
Akshully Tri-clops wouldn't bring Dragstor a spare because they are on opposing factions. 😉 But I get what you mean. I think Mattel was looking at the success of Transformers when they came up with this guy.
Hey there. You know what, I had that little ripcord orko that ran and hopped and spun around...and I do not know why i didn't think he was a bit absurd...but then again, maybe it did make sense, lol. Thanks for watching.
I always used Faker as Skeletors failed experiment to make his own He-Man. He wasn't AS powerful as He-Man, but still strong enough to be a henchman. He kind of became my Starscream, plotting against Skeletor because a part of him was kind of like He-Man, he wanted to defeat him, but only to take his place and then beat He-Man.
Oh, he was alright. I just thought so many were more awesome, that's all. I have no ill will for those who thought he was cool. I loved MOTU. It was the greatest.
I kinda loved most of the ones on your list. Faker? not so much. I would probably put more figures with just upgraded features than any actual original creations. I love the Tops(Rotar), and the Stones (Stonedar) for originality. Anything with a creature head is in my top tier of awesome. Rio Blast isn't one of my favs, and I don't care for Fisto, nor the name Fisto. I loved Ram Man, but hated that he was paralyzed from the legs down so to speak. To be honest I traded off my masters of Universe collection for a Hot Wheels collection that I still building on a monthly basis.
I do love your comment, but we are pretty opposite. I loved MOTU and all the guys, including as I mentioned the Rock People. But I think Rio Blast and Fisto were awesome (including Jitsu), but just not those TOPS. Hey Hot Wheels is always banging, so good trade.
The only one I had from the list growing up was Faker, and I honestly don't know why I ended up with him. Of course, sometimes the heavens would part and my mom would say I could get a figure, but there just wasn't much of a selection at the store. What was I supposed to do, tell her no?? I'd take the best option I didn't have - so that's probably how I ended up with Faker.
I loved my faker. Before they came out from Remco, I would pretend He-man and Faker were the Fabulous ones! In Louisville, I grew up on Memphis wrestling, so when the Remco figures came out, I tell you the battles and matches I had with them was the stuff of legend.
I can only imagine...it makes total sense and give you some props for imagination. Thanks for sharing that awesome look into the best time to be a kid.
LOL. Well, they were trying to stay relevant and keep up with those others. But at least MOTU was the trend setter...it just couldn't last. Thanks for the watch.
I sold my og Stinkor with one arm in '22. The scent was definitely weaker, but dude was still rockin enough patchouli to season the giant motu box over attic dust. Modulok was great to own, but I always felt like it wasnt really a he-man figure, didnt count
This is all in fun folks, but it is something that I thought would be a good idea for some time. Enjoy the silly good time about MY FAVORITE 80s Franchise...MOTU.
In the Dragon Blast commercial that kid(second from the right)costars in the FOX Generation X tv movie as Mondo, lol
Fun connection! Thanks for the info!!
You hate happiness, smiling, and Christmas.

@@GENXPERIENCE Lol. I thought the same thing about Snout Spout, too. When i was collecting figures. I didn't even want that one. But I got it any way. They probably made faker blue. S0, when kids played with it. They wouldn't think it was He-Man.
I always considered Faker to be closer to Bizarro. He’s not fooling anyone, but he’s still dangerous.
I like that, and I think he is portrayed like that in some media. BUt yes, still equally as fierce.
I always liked my faker figure, although he was just another of Skeletors cronies in my storylines. He never tried to kid anyone into thinking he was He-Man.
He looks like a hybrid of He-Man and Skeletor; maybe that was the idea of an amalgamation.
I had the OG Stinkor as a kid- I still have him. My experience was that the stink lasted YEARS. He still carries a bit of it. He made my whole toy drawer smell. Heck, some of my old toys STILL carry a bit of “eau de Stinkor.”
That is cool. First, my MOss Man did not keep the Pine scent, and the new STinkor from Origins didn't even smell. UGH
My vintage Stinkor still smells a little, but my Origins one (which removed the smell entirely in European regions) has a little sticky-pad with a drop of patchouli oil inside his armour.
Even my original 80's Stinkor has still that funny smell! And I love it!
Both my vintage ones smell fresh today.
I suppose. The show had him look the same, so I thought the Toy had it wrong. But you could be right
This really took me back.

A tiger sized praying mantis would decimate a tiger. Truly horrific if you know anything about stuff.
I know a lot about STUFF, most likely different stuff then you...you know, right?
A cybernetic monstrosity of a mount with a buttox blaster? Battlecat is screwed....And then head-chomped. 😂
OH!

Lucky you. NOt my Moss Man
The scorpion alien from the aliens toy line blew himself up too. It was pretty cool back then.
I knew it was used in other toylines, but I wasn't sure what. Since Alien is one of my favorite franchises, that is pretty cool.
Faker is blue so YOU can tell the difference when you're playing! The other toys can't tell him apart from He-Man. :)
GOod point. I like that way of thinking.

So glad I unlocked a memory. He is one of my favorites...and I never really knew why, either, lol.
the patchouly oil was actually used as a portion of the oil in the plastic of the arms and legs, mine is still pungent 40 years later
Nice. My Moss Man lost it fast.
Thank you, and I couldn't agree more. The figure, the ideas, and sometimes the execution, were just so imaginative. It was a great time to play.
Oh man, I always forget about Bravestarr! Good call.
When I played with Faker I decided that was his true form, after the he-man disguise wore off, skeletor kept his him around to do dirty work
OOOOOOOOOOOOOh, I do like that. Great imaginatio.
I got Faker for Christmas one year instead of He-Man. I remember being devastated. 😅
I couldn't help but imagine that scenario...and just start laughing. I am so sorry. That would be horrible. I hope you got he real one soon after.

Ah, I didn't say he wasn't cool, I said he was absurd.
I had those He-Man toys as a kid and I never realized they were basically palette swaps haha
Lol...some of them, yeah. Most shared parts...but still pretty original. Even if crazy. And I still loved them all
Moss Man DID smell like a martini!!!
That took me a minute, but now I got you. Yes, you are correct
He smelled of something but I could never work out what it was. I liked it though 😂
Christmas of 82. My mom couldn't find He-Man in stores, so she grabbed Faker. He was my He-Man for a few months. Also, Stinkor and Moss Man both smelled pretty good.
Well done with Faker as He-Man. I love that story, thanks for sharing it.
I am actually legally blind and I could tell the difference between "He-man" and "Faker."🤣
Faker was almost the first MOTU figure I ever got. My mom said that I could have the blue He-Man or the He-Man with the plane(Wind Raider). Of course I took the set. 😁
Good choice.
This was really fun! And I love your t-shirt. :)
Glad you enjoyed. It was all meant in fun...and yeah, Strawberry Shotcake...why not, right?
I personally love Sour Grapes!

Every one of these are iconic fan favorites. Also mine personally

There were definitely some interesting characters in the line! I had no idea about some of these!
Really. I am glad I was able to share some of these. yes, interesting to say the least.
(The point of this whole diatribe.)
He wasn't just another random minion, he was something even He-Man kind of feared.
My hypothesis for why it probably was more popular in Germany than in the USA is:
A: Indeed the audio plays might have played a role.
Tops for bottoms! Everyone on the battlefield was confused.

@GENXPERIENCE Er...by the way...Faker is one of my all time favorites. Yeah!

Very much in line with Shadow the Hedgehog, Venom, Evil Ryu, Bizarro, etc. I agree with all of your other down votes.

Hey!!! You know motu came out in 1981! It drives me nuts when people say 1982.
You are the 2nd commenter to validate what WE already knew. It is funny, no one can convince me I DIDN"T get those in 1981, even if official in 82...81 was a memorable Christmas. Thanks for the comment.
I heard that some Stinkor had such an overpowering smell that it would get all over the other figures when in storage.
I have 3 vintage Stinkors.....2 carded and mine from when I was a kid that I played with..... I'll be 50 next year and ALL 3 STILL smell to this day.......I've never run across a Stinkor that lost it's smell.
You must run across Stinkor often. I have discovered more people than imaginable who are so passionate about his smell lingering. WOW.
Yay! Lots of fun
Thanks. That is just what this is all about, isn't it?
@@GENXPERIENCE oh definitely no I’ll will. It’s all fun. And some of the characters were very silly but that just made us love them more!!
My new non-for profit: tops for bottoms
lol...at least you're not charging.
Looking back, it’s pretty insulting what they expected us to fall for
LOL, interesting way to put it. Hmmmm
I feel like Marcel Proust eating his petite madeleine cake, so many memories!
Then you are very fancy. Please eat away as you watch. Thank you
@@GENXPERIENCE I’m munching up your content 😛
You have disrespected Snout Spout, now I must fight you!
LOL, okay okay, I do have him, love him. But he can be both AWESOME and a little RIDICULOUS at the same time.
Tyrantisaurus Rex was King Hiss's mount. Or at least in Preternia times.
Yeah, technically you are correct...I was just going by that great commercial showing Skeletor riding it. But you are right.
I was looking for this comment.
@@GENXPERIENCE I didn't even know there was a vintage commercial for the dinos until this video.
Okay, now that is a good little nugget...and makes sense. Thanks
"Thunder Punch He-Man" looked fun, but the cap popping worked maybe 70% of the time. There were quite a few misfires, lol
I'll give the new look wasn't bad, but I had no idea it wasn't reliable...just to little bang...for your buck. Thank you for the comment
Buzz Off
Roboto
Man-E-Faces
Stinkor
Faker
Fisto (because he resembled Chuck Norris)
Spikor
Moss Man
Trap Jaw
Also am I the only one who thought that He-Man had some pretty lackluster warriors on his team?
I should have trusted my gut, and put flying fists there...but I LOVED Battle Armor, too. AWESOME. Great list of those favorites. The Heroic Warriors were often pretty dull, to be sure. Thanks for the great comment.
I found my old Kobra Khan figure in a crawlspace when cleaning out my old stuff from my parents' house a few years ago. It still had water in it. I tasted the water and did not die. Yet.
Way to be GEN X...taste the water. That is awesome, and like so many things...we aren't dead yet, lol. Thanks for the comment.
I had Stinkor when he first came out. Even after he was melted in a fire (20 years later), u tell the black melted blob of plastic was Stinkor. He still stan 😅k
Well, looks like my MOSS MAN had nothing on STINKORs PERPETUAL ODOR.
@@GENXPERIENCE yeah. Moss Man was only good for about 5 years of smell. Tops.
Holy crap I used to have the robot with the transparent torso. It was really neat, I completely forgot about it.
ROBOTO. Happy to unlock a memory.
Akshully Tri-clops wouldn't bring Dragstor a spare because they are on opposing factions. 😉 But I get what you mean. I think Mattel was looking at the success of Transformers when they came up with this guy.
Okay, okay, you got me there. I just figured he was more the mechanic, lol. It did feel like Transformers Fever was taking over.
The terror claws were basically adamantium claws without the experiment tbh
So true. I like it.
Man the amount of effort put into these toys is horrible, and we still play with them
It took little effort to entertain us, lol. Loved my MOTU
What? No Mantenna? His power was making his eyes bulge out of his head! My whole childhood with him was having Teela get pissed at him oogling her.
I suppose I thought he was pretty darn cool. Not sure why, but I love that you used him to PEEP.
Faker was 1 of my favourites
He's alright. I do have him in the Origins collection...even if I thought he as an imposter was funny.
@GENXPERIENCE remember breaking princess Adams leg never got over that 😪
@@greyjedi6430 Oh, that does suck. I remember my dog chewing Kobra Khan's hand...PISSED FOREVER
What about Orko? Although after remembering these guys, he wasn't that strange😂
Love your thoughtful perspective on it. I shared some of the same story for Faker, too.
Stinkor! I loved em! Looked cool! Smelled bad! Too bad you weren’t big on him. Yeah, that’s ok if he’s not for you.
I love this story, thank you. My mother was similar, and heck no would I refuse. THanks for sharing.
You pretty much covered every figure that eventually turned me away from Motu, it all ended up looking like a cash grab
LOL. Well, they were trying to stay relevant and keep up with those others. But at least MOTU was the trend setter...it just couldn't last. Thanks for the watch.
Of course it was a cash grab. What in the world else would it be? 😂
I’m wondering if he goes out with his strawberry shortcake shirt for drinks, just an awesome shirt!👍
lol, I am not afraid to wear strawberry out...I assure you.
I sold my og Stinkor with one arm in '22. The scent was definitely weaker, but dude was still rockin enough patchouli to season the giant motu box over attic dust.
Modulok was great to own, but I always felt like it wasnt really a he-man figure, didnt count
I totally agree with Modulok...he didn't seem motu, but as he was the Evil Horde I figured ooooh, something new. Thanks for the comment.
Yeah the Beyblade motus are weird to say the least 😂
Nice...love the mash up, there.
Snout Spout? In the cartoon he was Hose Nose.
He was..I swear they must have recorded before the name was agreed upon.
