Building my friend an Enduro car! Can he make it all 200 laps!?
If you've never heard of an Enduro race, you're in for a treat! Basically a demo derby for 200 laps where patience and a solid car is crucial.
My friends and I raced a few of these right out of high school and the memories made were some of the best....so good that Trevin reached out to me and asked me to build him a rig to run the Enduro again this year....and that's what we did!
Come along for the journey as I turn this *almost* street worthy TSX into an Enduro rig, following the rulebook appropriately, ranting about sunroofs and painting the rig to resemble the RealTime Racing World Challenge TSX's

Some safety upgrades next then back to trying to go faster so stay tuned!

    Fall is on its way I can’t help but start thinking about sleds! Got a question. I ordered a 9r assault but am thinking about switching to a 9r xcr 136. I live in the nek and ride same spots as you. I feel like the xcr is likley the better choice overall as I don’t off trail much just in fields when we get a good dump. However I always wanted to try an assault and am lured in by the fun factor of it. I’m starting to second guess my decision though so any advice would be great as you are the perfect guy to ask in my opinion. Second thing is the xcr that I can switch to is the red and blue one with the 1.35 cobra. I typically run taller lug tracks, 1.5 or 1.6, so I’m not too sure about the 1.35 lug and it’s performance any thoughts? I could swap it out but it would be costly and I’m not sure it’s worth it. If I do go with it any advice on what studs to use, backers and patter? Thanks a lot man, I love the videos can’t wait until the snow flys I look forward to the videos!

    • @MunsonMotorsports
      @MunsonMotorsports 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hey bud! To jump right into it, I tend to say that the XCR is the better "out of the box" fit for most folks. The Assault is awesome, it's a ton of fun and mine is staying in the fleet for another season no matter how frustrated breaking it may be....however out of the box they definitely are not as trail friendly as an XCR. Biggest thing they need work on in my opinion is the rear suspension, the stock IGX calibration has a lot of rebound that most do not enjoy. I've found myself working to make the Assault be/do what it simply is not. I would say to anyone ordering/buying an Assault, plan/budget to go through at LEAST the rear suspension to have it recalibrated/resprung appropriately. The XCR on the other hand is much closer to being acceptable for most folks and they can hope on and ride, getting picky after a few rides if they want to. If I were to order another Polaris for VT, it would for sure be an XCR, albeit be a very hard decision between a 128 or a 136 knowing now how well the 128/9" pro-cc can work. The 1.35 cobra is a decent all around track, it's not my favorite, but it works just fine with some studding. The softer lugs do have a shorter life span, 3-4k miles around here is about all I see before 1.35's begin to tear/lose a lug or two, 1.6's are lucky to see 3k without tearing lugs. I definitely side with you and prefer the 1.5" as you probably have seen with my Storm tracks on both rigs, however with the 2.52p of the XCR track choices are somewhat limited. You could easily switch drivers to a 2.86p setup (the drivers are all over ebay real cheap) and then go with a 1.5 Storm or something. As far as studs, I've been partial to the SnowStuds products lately but you really can't go wrong with any of them. I've mixed and matched brands, using SnowStuds studs and Studboy Pro Series backers, the combinations are almost endless!

      @@MunsonMotorsports Dude, thanks so much for the thorough response, That helps a lot! I think I’ll make the switch to the xcr. It sounds like staying with the 1.35 cobra and studding it would be the way to go rather than paying to swap out to the 1.6. The main reason I was considering going with a taller lug was to make it a little more playful to get the best of both worlds xcr and assault. I even thought about a 1.75 like the older xcrs had I feel like that could be a blast but risky with the thin/ icy conditions we tend to get. Hopefully the 1.35 with some studding can pick the skis up like I want, that’s half the fun! Thanks again man!

    • @MunsonMotorsports
      @MunsonMotorsports 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@Sdm07120 I would stick with the 1.35 over the 1.6 cobra, the 1.6 just doesn't have the longevity for our potentially low snow/icey conditions we've had the last couple seasons. You'll have no issues keeping the fun factor with the studded 1.35, Polaris still does a great job of achieving that balance. With the right rear suspension setup you can lift the skis when you want but still keep the front end down with throttle control when you need to

    Hope it didnt cost too much. Few facts about these types of builds, no porting in the cylinder only the exhaust outlet (cncported) which can lose performance. longer rods dont gain power, needs to be ported to adapt to longer rods and ratios. Also adding too much case volume. But can make it run smoother. But with downsides. The poorly designed 800 dual ring pistons lose performance compared to the stock 850 pistons. For 2 mm of stroke would of been easier to install a ported 850 cyl, head, highflow Y pipe and tune and have alot more power, and less cost. These engines need to balanced out from a proper engine builder. Porting, heads, exhaust, tuning, etc...

    • @MunsonMotorsports
      @MunsonMotorsports 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You certainly should be able to mount them a bit farther forward, you'll just need to keep an eye on tail length and contact/clearance with the forward most, outside idler wheel mount. Wouldn't hurt to pick a few locations and see which one feels best! I should have a template available come fall for marking/drilling my location which is a similar relationship to the OEM spot/distance from torque arm as the 136 application.

    I am canadian and this country has gone to shit so bad. The leadership here is going out of its way to make sure of it. Nothing to be proud of any more. Sorry for the inconvenience.

      I feel your pain, it's happening everywhere unfortunately. Burlington VT used to be amazing, now I'll hardly venture down there.

      That's a good thought too. They did leave the breaker bar/sockets and stuff I keep for changing the trailer spare wheel/tire though which I was surprised to see.

    if you had the master 6127, that is the strongest padlock or the 6327, but with battery tools not much out there cannot be cut. unless the round puck locks if they fit , no schackle on those

      I've heard it a lot too, it's definitely not as bad as it used to be (allegedly), but it do still be happening sadly
