I'm with the old man 💯 thats the way its supposed to go not on top WTF is it going to do on top , the air won't cool it off that much, just listen to the old man, cut a square hole bring it up from the bottom of the tunnel and bolt it in run the hoses wit ever way you nee to and run it. I have the same set up on my Yamaha srx 700 works great . 😂
If you want it to be supper duty then weld plates on both sides the you'll have a strong repair instead of constantly taking it apart and fixing it ten times.!!!!
A little off topic but if you had the option of doing the RAS X front end w/ the 2018 RS Spindles like you did on your 600r build...or just buy the new 2025 RAS RX kit doo offers, which one would you pick? RAS X w/ 2018 spindles would be about $300 cheaper, cant decide. This would be going on a 2020 xrs with the RAS 3 front end.
Man that's a tough one. If I remember right you'd have 18.5" long shocks on your sled (it's been a while since I've had Doo stuff on the brain suspension wise), which would work well with the RS spindle front end I did...However I think they may be a bit short for the RX kit as I believe that retrofit is based off RAS-X equipped/shock length sleds. If that's the case, then your 18.5" shocks may make the front sit very low with the RX kit; the shock would be laid over pretty good too and be less effective in certain aspects. I'd pull a shock and measure it, then feel free to reach out to me through the contact form on my website or respond back in here!

Actually, funny you ask, Lbird does plan on selling this one once it's all done and after our big trail ride video with these sleds is over!
