Rain Soaked Camping at Loyalsock's Masten Ghost Camp
In August we set out to Loyalsock State Forest in Central PA. It was a trip for the Buffalo crew to get our with Tyler and his Trailhawk before he moved to Georgia. It was a tale of two days, sunny and warm exploring the cemetery, mineshafts, and waterfall swimming holes and then a moddy rainy and foggy day of white walled overlooks. We still had a great time though!

AOAA Barney Rubble - Jeep Badge of Honor - Blue Trail

The second of our two badge trails on Day 2 at AOAA, tackling Barney Rubble, a blue Jeep Badge of Honor trail with Jamie and his WJ Grand Cherokee. It was super fun feeling like I was going to tip (not likely) by taking a DUMB line lol. It's a short and punchy trail with lots of options! Plus I got in mud again, cause it's what I do. The first of two badge trails on Day 2 at AOAA, tackling Fern Ridge, a blue Jeep Badge of Honor trail with Jamie and his WJ Grand Cherokee. Gunna be doin the cold weather camping again this year?
always!
Looks like a blast!
Is camping permit required?
Yes for PA state forests. Booked online.
It was such a fun trip!
Absolutely. 🙌
Here's the fun part...........those state forests are where they run the Susquehannock Trail Performance Rally. Imagine going 120mph on some of those roads 🤣
@@EvanK2EJT I heard about that! It sounds freaking amazing
@@DarksideOffRoad Dude, if you've never been you should go. It's CRAZY
I was just there this weekend and did that trail.
Fun stuff! Which line did you take?

@@DefiantOffroad I love AOAA 🤘
Another good episode!

Hello
Made it...coyotes howling, full moon, Halloween Sprit Store & Darkside Offroad premiere! Busy night!
Made it...
Was this the weekend of May 17th - 18th? I'm pretty sure me and my GF were camping at the site directly next to your site
yup!
@DarksideOffRoad haha that constant rain on your first night and morning looked very familiar. Thank you for showing me an incredible area to explore 👊
@@Knox-ec9ur You betcha. The trails were fun after that 💪
I have a stock rubicon gladiator. Can you get around ok being stock? Thx!
Yeah anything the 4Runner did the Rubi Gladdy could do. Also they bulldozed half of Marble Head so that's easier now too 🤷♂
@@DarksideOffRoad do you plan on visiting Drummond again before the snow flies? I heard some people might be going the first weekend in November. Just don’t want to go alone, no winch yet either!
And what air pressure were you using there?
@@stephensmith401 I think around 18psi
@@DarksideOffRoad what about the other question. Thank you!
Thinking about this snorkel, but wondering about a drain plig in the airbox for driving in torrential rain because (Florida). Does this have any ability to drain water that comes in from the snorkel??
I grew up in WV and what you call overlanding were just normal roads to us. My friend had to cross a creek everyday as part of his driveway. Haha
They are really nice trails. We've used em at checkpoints for the New York Gambler 500 a few times. The FLX area is beautiful and I'm happy to call it home.
Nice work with the zweigel white hots
You confused .e when you said you needed to air up and get to the UP of michigan meanwhile you crossed the Mackinaw to the Lower Penninsula and Onaway...lol. Also what engine is in your JLU the 3.6? And what exhaust is that cause I like the deeper sound
3.6 with the AWE Trail Edition exhaust. I love it too 🤘
@@DarksideOffRoad how's drone on road?
@@Lefishn no issues
What size tires are on your jeep? Heard you say when you got to that muddy twisty section that people with 35" would be ok
@@Lefishn I’m on 35s with a 2.5” lift. Trail is always changing tho up there so who knows. Would’ve def tried more stuff if the 4Runner wasn’t with us and we had more time.
Another good episode!
Going to be there in October
Awesome! Have fun, you'll love it. I prefer AOAA over Rausch Creek now after going there.
@DarksideOffRoad I been to Rausch creek last year..just wondering what do you like about AOAA over Rausch creek thanks and happy trails.
@@philliprollman7421 cost mostly, but honestly the large AOAA property seemed to spread people out really well and Rausch feels crowded.
@@DarksideOffRoad cool thanks i was watching your video while you responded.
Hey, how's it going, bud love the videos and also like to to anf for camping and wheeling would love to head out some time and meet up you seem to know alot of the spots and trails
Nice, very nice
I'm heading up to AOAA this weekend, but only hitting greens. My first time up there. Next month should be green/blue. Having an old willys like a 44 MB needs some toe dipping, especially since I'm still quite new to offroading
Looks awesome!
@@EricDenk-j6z it def is!
Good PA rocks! Nice!
@@dadventuretv2538 gotta love em!
Did it back on July 20th in Ruby. 35s, Clayton 1.5" lift. It was an interesting trail and not terribly difficult. Much easier than Barney Rubble.
@@W2IRT agreed! Super fun.
my favorite trail on the west property.
Awesome stuff. Thanks!
thanks for watching Bill!
Awesome video!
Thanks! Awesome trail too 🤘
The beginning of the road from Thomas is a lot worse now. That drain pipe is broken and completely rutted out with many more rocks showing than in this video. We drove for a while and then my wife asked how many more miles of this torture was left so in the interest of matrimonial bliss, I turned around and went to the tower the other way. She’s not a fan of bouncing around on dirt roads so will have to come back with one of my more easily entertained friends. The road is definitely going to eat some lower clearance transmissions the way it is in any case.
Sounds like it’s worth going back 😏
@@DarksideOffRoad I guess. Probably bike it next time.
You have it all backwards on the road. It is a weight limit placed on the road to protect it from truck traffic .
Just did a trip to VA in my JLUR with 2 friends with gladiators first week of September. We did Big Levels, Potts Mountain, and revisited Union Springs/flagpole. Potts Mountain was definitely no joke, how is it not a Badge trail indeed. Camped up in the middle, was a great time!
It's such a great area. I'm hoping to get to Bald Mountain soon too!
it is a pretty nice area, they do wine tours all up and down the lake as well in summer and if you like racing should check out Bud at the Glen too! if you head north towards Geneva up the other end of the lake there's Tioga Downs casino and the Outlet mall.
I'm in Rochester what's the wny off road group?
Search for WNY Overland on Facebook groups 👍 great people
Question, when in Allegheny state forest outside Bradford using the onXoffroad app, can I only explore the green trails and the one blue trail? Or can I explore all of the yellow roads it shows as well?
Thats Mosquito creek, the dam was known as Blackwell dam. When we built our camp near there ( prior to Quehanna ) in the early 50s, we dug the sand for mixing the mortar at that creek crossing. Our camp was located within about a half mile from where the reactor was built. There were more than 300 camps, homes, and farms located in the area that ultimately became Quehanna.
Looks like a great time. I'm not too far, but I've never been to AAOA. Awesome video!
So "northern Michigan" is south of the UP and the Mac? 🤔
Yall litterly bypassed every obstacle 😅
Sheesh, mammoth rock looks like no joke, should go and give that a whirl dude 😎
Lol antique road show, good stuff man.
@@creedskimmer I love that thing tho. 😍
Looks like a fun trail. That old CJ did great 🙌🏽
If you like climbing around on rocks you need to go to Hickory Run State Park in PA and see the Boulder Field. It’s pretty freakin cool. It is north of Allentown just off the Northeast extension of the Turnpike. No wheelin but there is a nice e campground and a lake and the Boulder Field is super unique. Another great spot is off of Spruce Knob WV. Take the walking trail that goes around the peak and tower down to where it ends, then scramble down the boulder field to the grassy knob with big boulders on it. Talk about a view!!! Pretty cool. Again no wheelin, but if you go out the back way when you come down from the road to the peak you can go over to the Sinks of Gandy and then go past them into the Mongohela and there are great boondocking sites. I went all the way down to Cass WV via forest service roads, about 75 miles. I was going to Snowshoe for mountain biking and trying to get into the OHV trails around Snowshoe from the back, which do connect to the Monongahela, but the forest service road that goes there had the gate down and locked. So I had to swing down to tarmac and Cass and come up the road. Have you wheeled at Wolf Den State Park in MD?
@@dadventuretv2538 I was at Spruce Knob last year but didn’t do the little hike. Gotta get back there at some point!
Glad to see an old CJ do the greens easily. Next month I'm hitting the greens with my 44 Willys MB, with less smoke of course
That poor 4 cylinder needs new valve stem seals... unless it's the rings. That's a whole different kettle of fish! Take care of that thing Dirtroad Therapy!
Beautiful views of Humpback & Mammoth!
It's a great park to play in.
