The Lore of Bushcraft
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 25 มิ.ย. 2020
This channel is unscripted and is simply man in his natural environment
The way of Bushcraft is about utilising the natural environment not only to survive but to thrive
I grew up with a love for nature by watching it. I wanted to be a scientist, an explorer, an adventurer either on an archaeological dig or a traverse through the Amazon to visit indigenous peoples and learn from their culture on an expedition
Even as a lad I took a huge interest in the outdoors. I build shelters, sparked fires and explored the woods whenever I could, I often ran away to them
I also grabbed inspiration from peoples such as the Bushman of the Kalahari and the Great Explorers, and from persons such as John Muir, Teddy Roosevelt, Henry David Thoreau, Ray Mears, Mors Kochanski, Horace Kephart, Dave Canterbury. They helped me to gain skills and outdoor knowledge that has helped me to burgeon in a wilderness environment
As they inspired me, I now endeavour to inspire you all in this Channel

The Survival Tarp is only $79 at bushcraftspain.es/product/survival-oilskin-tarp/ it rained overnight and I stayed protected. The Sugpak Jungle bag is good because it has an insect net, yet it can get too warm so you have to open it up as a blanket and stick your feet out. Due to the influx of Bear activity, I had to pull out my Kevlar Bear bag. It’s nice and easy because all you have to do is ...

On this trip I encountered a Bear, as I was sitting by the campfire. It came up growling at me, which I found very odd because fire is supposed to scare them off. The next day as I was walking, I saw that particular bear that you saw in the video and I wanted to protect the bear from humans by making it scared of us, so I actually ended up yelling at it and it turns out that there was a whole ...

Welcome all, This has been a return to a previous campsite I created last year. The location is the same spot I filmed my one year TH-cam anniversary at. So, you will see a lot of similarities if you have seen it. The shelter system is obviously from Bushcraft Spain (they have not sponsored, nor given me any kit to review). I fancied their items because they were more pliable than my other tarp...

This video was filmed over a two night outing. It features some kit that you haven't seen, so it's new to you, although I've had some of it for some time now. I upgraded some months ago from the Frost River Isle Royale Jr to the Boreal Bushcraft rucksack by Skogsvana. Don't get me wrong, I love the Frost River, but it doesn't carry well. The Boreal I got has a lumbar support pad, a back pad in ...

Thanks for coming along on "my latest" winter adventure. This was actually filmed in January on one of the coldest days we've had all year. With it being that cold you are definitely going to need log fires to keep you warm. I started off with conifers that were "dead standing," then I placed dead standing maple on top of that to have a slow and enduring fire. I'll look forward to another adven...

There are some big bloodvessels on the inside of your legs. Why do you baton wood in between of your legs?
Not a big deal, the point of the knife was nearly 2 feet away and as you can see my legs are well spread. If you were there you would have seen it was completely safe. Rules don’t apply to all situations mate. But thanks for your concern.
What an eye for beauty you have, in selecting a spot, and each piece of cherished chosen gear. I enjoyed your video very much! Thank you!❤
Thanks so much, I’m glad you enjoyed it. The more time you spend in the wilderness the more you’ll appreciate it and the gear that gets you there.
The weight of the things you carry i kg please. Take care and stay safe. I'm Mikael from Sweden. I am almost 59 years old and enyoj nature. Thanks for this video.🤠🏕
Looks like you’ve been around awhile and probably asked several times; where did you get the sheep/fur throw? Have a preference. Love to have one, but little apprehensive. Like to find a retailer that’s not a rip off. Thanks. Appreciate
Hey Carne, I was watching your video and saw that you had some cranberry walnut bread 🍞 I just know 😋 that bread alone was to die for. Did you bake it yourself or buy at your local bakery? I want to make my own but need the right flour, any advice? I love watching you in action and all your videos but do you think you could make your videos with dialog? I hope you have more to come and can hardly wait. Your friend from Ernie from NC.
Thanks for sharing this, otherwise I would have missed it. I've made a donation 👏
Humans are amazing! As a community, we can all help each other and get through the tough times. I’m sure they will appreciate your contribution. You will be a part of putting something so well crafted back together again. I will share your comment with them. Cheers mate! 💪
This is well shot, but I confess, i don’t get it. Why go out of your way to have ultra-heavy equipment when you can just get a dyneema tarp that weighs maybe 1/3rd as much and provides 2x the coverage? A polycryo or tyvek ground sheep would save a lot of weight too. And why bother with a giant cast iron pan? I’m happy eating Patagonia fish. Tasty, nutritious, nothing to cook, nothing to clean. Throw in some trail mix, or cheese, or beef jerky. No cooking or cleaning. No need for an ax b/c no need for fire in that weather esp. just looks like going out of your way to by old fashioned equipment to camp like it’s the 1800s. Strange hobby. And one of the best things i’ve done for my health is quite caffeine - it’s a nasty drug.
Interesting take and perspective, I assume you are a Backpacker. The point of traditional Bushcraft is the value of creating your own things and we appreciate them more because one makes it yourself. Backpacking/Hiking is for long distances, but when you’re Bushcrafting you’re mostly sedimentary. My pack in the summer only weighs about 30 lb and in the winter up to 50 which I have no problem carrying in on my back. I run ultramarathons and I run hundred mile races, yet people will wonder why would you want to put yourself through all of that? The reason is it shows you what you are made of. I’m always up for a challenge and I’m always willing to work hard and then appreciate the fruits of my Labour. The pan is stainless steel and quite light by the way. I also workout hard and I’m rewarded with a beautiful body that I know could get me through anything. We do things in life because they bring us joy and satisfaction. I’ll leave you with this: “We do not go to the green woods and crystal waters to rough it, we go to smooth it. We get it rough enough at home, in towns and cities.” George W. Sears
I can't subscribe to a channel that won't at least talk to me about it reviewing a product.
no problem, you don’t have to. I’m sure there are other channels that will talk to you since you need it.

Seen you wearing a Kilt in other vids, where did you get that Kilt? Whats the Name Brand on it? Is it Wool? Great vids, Love the OG Camp Style
Hello mate, sorry for the delayed reply, I got it in Scotland, it is 100% wool and it for House of Bruar out of Scotland. The Kilt is the ultimate outdoor piece of kit and works in three seasons . Glad you’re enjoying the adventures.
@TheLoreofBushcraft thanks I'll try and look it up
always a pleasure watching your videos
Thanks mate, I truly appreciate your feedback
Thank you for your time and efforts! That is what bushcrafting really is for you are authentic. Just being outdoors play the campfire, is it great experience. I see you have a sleeping with your bed roll. The bush catchers in the 1800s what have you is just wool blankets. I enjoyed your video so I want to purchase one of thosemany times. I don't have anything to support you financially I have seen those tarps on Etsy. I want one for myself. God bless all those people there. I know the rebuilding their business. March on brother
I meant all the people in Spain that went to that horrific storm. Again March on
@21:59, where did you get that small lined tarp you kneeled on? I have looking just that very thing.
Hi Tim, bushcraftspain.es/product/oilskin-mat/
Wow.. that sucks. Hope they get it all worked out. Thanks for the video
They have awesome products! Hope it all works out. I'll try to do what i can.
What?!!! This is terrible. I love BCS! I never heard about this storm, terrible.
Truly, they are such a good business and good people behind it. They have been nothing but good to me and that’s why I’m spreading the word. Cheers
@ when you Google “Spain floods” Valencia pops up, over 300 dead, 100 people still missing. That town looks devastated. I haven’t seen a mention of this on any national news channels here in the US. Maybe the election overshadowed? But this seems pretty big. Did you see any coverage?
For those that haven’t seen the coverage the area was devastated by flash floods. Areas wiped out in 45 minutes as people desperately tried to escape in cars but were stuck in traffic. The Spanish government don’t appear to have been quick to respond and feelings are running high. Later coverage showed locals voice their anger and attacked officials.
@@tonnaforest7595 hahah how this turns to politics! Too funny. Do I just look conservative? I have the Fox News look?! Oh man!
I really really like your tarp setup. I don't suppose you would be willing to do a video or a short of a more in depth showing of its setup?
Hi there Tim, I would consider that however, I often use that set up more in the summer since it’s so airy. I’ve got a different set up coming up in the next few weeks I’m sure you’ll enjoy.
Just discovered your channel and I'm really enjoying your videos.
Great to hear, I appreciate the recognition. I look forward to having you on the journey. Cheers
I have learned a lot from your videos, more than from many others, even though you don't say a word. I love the sounds from your surroundings and the sounds of you working. Thank you for posting! And I really enjoy the quotes as well!
Hi Tim, I want to express my deepest gratitude for your unwavering support and recognition. It truly means the world to me to be able to share my passions and have them appreciated. Cheers

Hey Carne, it's been a while since your last video. I missed watching your videos and I love the gear you have from Bushcraft Spain as well as the meals you've prepared. Can't wait for the next one they're great.
Yeah, thank you so much. I really appreciate it. Did you see the last video I put out regarding Bushcraft Spain? They had a tragic mudslide was destroyed their warehouse and workshop. They asked me to spread the word regarding their situation since they asked for help.
@TheLoreofBushcraft Carne, I've seen the video of the tragic 😥 event that took place in Spain and my heart ❤️ goes out to them all. As you may already know , the last tropical storm that hit Western North Carolina devastated us . I AND SO many did not have electricity, roads were closed and many people lost their lives, especially Lake lure. They had it the worst. That's less than 20 miles from where I live. Very sad. I do like 👍 the gear you have showed us on video and I think it's great. I can't wait you until you back into the groove again and show us some new videos. God bless 🙌 🙏 you and be safe. Your friend Ernie
I've been thinking of purchasing the Helko Werk Waxed Canvas Bedroll. Do you like it better than the Bushcraft Spain bedroll that you used in another of your videos? Was wondering how they compare. Thank you. Love your videos so much!
Hello, I prefer the Bushcraft Spain version, it’s softer. Nice of you to come along, and let me know if you have any more questions. Cheers
@@TheLoreofBushcraft Thank you so much for your quick response! I do have couple more questions: Does the Bushcraft Spain bedroll feel as sturdy and thick as the Helko Werk bedroll, and does the Bushcraft Spain Bedroll feel oily? Also any odor form the oil treatment? Apologize for so many questions. Hoping to purchase one or the other today. Thank you again! Very best to you!
@thegodream get the Bushcraft Spain, oily at first but that’s because it’s freshly done and that’s a good thing. Excellent build quality. Get it and you will love your decision, trust me. I don’t use the other one anymore.

Awesome Jay, welcome aboard 🇨🇦!
What is this pillow cover? Looking good ^^
Hello, thank you. That's the PNW Bushcraft Pillowcase.
Beautiful woods. Do you worry about ticks at all in your area? Was wondering if you spray clothing with permethrin or DEET?
Hello, indeed a lovely backdrop. I do spray with Permethrin and have Insect Shield chothing but it's the clothing that protects. On my body I use a self-made concoction know as Bug Dope. It's based on a Native American recipe that works very well against all bugs, but it's like putting oily molasses on yourself since Pine Tar and Castor oil are used in it.
Hands down, my favorite channel! I'm not sure where you are in this world, but it sure looks a lot like the Appalachians to me. Home sweet home.
