Little tip for you keep your blanket in your bivi bag when you stow it at the bottom of your bag keeps it dry clean ect.great video jealous of your kit must have cost a fortune
Hello mate, thanks for the tip, the only problem is if I put both the Bivi and the blanket on the bottom like that the weight would be unbalanced and it would be like a child pulling on the bottom of my bag, the weight needs to be dispersed in order to carry properly. Wool is water resistant and retains its warming properties up to 80% even when wet. I don’t own or need a car, and bicycle to work, this offshoots lot of the cost of the gear. I also contact companies and get discounts as well as freebies. I’m glad you enjoyed the outing and I will look forward to hearing from you again on the next adventure. Thank you so much for your support.

There he is! Looks like your spot was happy to see you again. I couldn’t quite make out all the runes on your kuksa but I was able to see most of them... Nice details! Any snow up your way yet?
Hello Chris, some patches of snow here and there, but the rain has washed it away, not to mention the warm weather. The Runes "dead, follow the course, so the stream." Old Norse saying. it’s no other way of saying to be a maverick.
Hello, PNW Bushcraft is the name of the outdoor Bushcraft equipment supplier that I use frequently. They are a small business with great products and that’s why I try to amplify them in my videos. It’s where I get my food pantry bags, my waxed pillowcase and my Bushpot Cedar bag. I’m not in the Pacific Northwest.
Good bushcraft video and no In-yer-face-blah-blah-blah or pounding music Pleasant and relaxing. Was that Maple sugar you put in your Kuksa for the coffee?
Glad you enjoyed it mate, That was natural cone Cane sugar. Done in an 18th century style. it’s still used in British colonies throughout the world. that’s the last bit of it because it was a cone.
Another enjoyable video. Youve definitely developed a distinct style both in video and attire. All good. I appreciate all your efforts to share these experiences. It serves as inspiration and comradery to the merry band of outdoor people out there, myself included. Looking at your bed roll, would it he classed as an Aussie swag bag or is it based on a frontiersman design?
Lee, long time happy new year! Yeah, it's great to be able to share with those who appreciate such activities. I don't know which style it is but if you find out please inform me. Nice to hear from you mate.
@@TheLoreofBushcraft and a Happy New Year to you! If you're ever back in the UK and fancy a wildcamp trip, let me know. I'd be up for that. Whereabouts in the states are you? It's unlikely I'd make it out there, but you appear to have a few favourite spots you like to revisit.
Subscribed! Great videos, keep posting. Do you post all your gear anywhere? That little lamp you have on your stick is really cool, where did you get that?
Welcome, thank you, I will. I post a lot of my knives on Instagram and there’s a video we get back that I have a load out of the variety of gear. Is a UCO from Badger Claw Outfitters but he doesn’t have them anymore. You can search for UCO candlelight to get one. Let me know if you have any more questions. Cheers
really good stuff, would it be possible at some point to include what food you're making on the screen or maybe a short word doc download? I think it was maybe a beef stew towards the end but it was hard to tell exactly. Nonetheless I love the gear you use, layout of your videos, the scenery etc.
Hello mate, good point, however, it does say Beans on the lid of the container. I didn’t realise it wasn’t as noticeable as I thought, otherwise I would’ve left captions. I must’ve edited out the part where the lid clearly said Kidney beans. It’s Kidney bean stew. Well, at least it makes for conversation :). Thanks for coming along. Feel free to ask any question and I’ll be happy to answer. Thanks again.
I've been thinking of purchasing the Helko Werk Waxed Canvas Bedroll. Do you like it better than the Bushcraft Spain bedroll that you used in another of your videos? Was wondering how they compare. Thank you. Love your videos so much!
@@TheLoreofBushcraft Thank you so much for your quick response! I do have couple more questions: Does the Bushcraft Spain bedroll feel as sturdy and thick as the Helko Werk bedroll, and does the Bushcraft Spain Bedroll feel oily? Also any odor form the oil treatment? Apologize for so many questions. Hoping to purchase one or the other today. Thank you again! Very best to you!
@thegodream get the Bushcraft Spain, oily at first but that’s because it’s freshly done and that’s a good thing. Excellent build quality. Get it and you will love your decision, trust me. I don’t use the other one anymore.
Hello mate, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Yes, it was quite comfy and protective. It was a Bear. Take a look at the description and I explain the situation..
Hello mate, glad you like it. Unfortunately, the fellow doesn’t make them anymore. He was making them during the pandemic, but I guess when the pandemic ended he went back to his full-time job. Anyway, here it is. NEW BUSHCRAFT KIT: Boreal Bushcraft Pack, SRO Bedroll Cooker, Filson Guide Sweater, Barbour Liner th-cam.com/video/hEWngFISjQI/w-d-xo.html
What are your thoughts on the Helko Werk Swiss Army wool blanket? Is it really worth $200? The canvas bedroll looks amazing. update: I ended up purchasing 2 Ektos 100% wool blankets from Amazon. I saw the Helko Werk Blanket was rated at 460gsm and the Ektos at 600gsm AND I bought TWO for HALF the price.
Hello mate, I don't own a Swiss Army blanket. The 2 Types of blankets I do own are Hudson’s Bay Company 6 Point (Queen size) historical iconic blanket (yes the one you read about in school) used by Frontiersmen, Trappers, Soldiers, Native Americans, Traders and Mountainmen since the 18 century. I also use Bushcraft Spain Merino wool blankets (King & Full). The cost is $400 for the Bushcraft Spain and $700 for Hudson Bay. They are in my opinion, the best Bushcraft blankets one can use without a doubt.
@sipapito it all depends, mostly a few kilometres and 45 minutes to one hour. I’m an athlete, I’m an Ultra marathon, I box, I cycle and I lift weights. I’m 50 years old today and I’m in better shape than I was at 20.
Yeah I suppose I’m quite a romantic (old school). I'm honoured that you completely understand my quote. Being in the woods certainly brings me peace and the fact that I can share that peace with others is one good thing that’s valuable in our modern life, technology wise. Cheers mate!

Regards as always from S.Wales 🇬🇧
I really like your style. Very old school. 😀. Your coffee, do you strain it or just let it settle?
Thanks, I’m a true adventurer. I just let the Coffee settle, a couple of grounds if that doesn’t bother me.
@@TheLoreofBushcraft yum that sounds even tastier and beef stew thanks!
Love the folding fry pan, where did you source it from?
Hello Blaine, it was gifted to me a few years ago but I’m sure you can find them online.
I've been thinking of purchasing the Helko Werk Waxed Canvas Bedroll. Do you like it better than the Bushcraft Spain bedroll that you used in another of your videos? Was wondering how they compare. Thank you. Love your videos so much!
Hello, I prefer the Bushcraft Spain version, it’s softer. Nice of you to come along, and let me know if you have any more questions. Cheers
@@TheLoreofBushcraft Great! Thank you so much!
Great videos. A big thank you. Your bedroll set up is excellent. Was that a panther in the woods there?
Hello mate, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Yes, it was quite comfy and protective. It was a Bear. Take a look at the description and I explain the situation..
@@TheLoreofBushcraft Thank you.
What kind of backpack? Where do I get one?
Hello mate, glad you like it. Unfortunately, the fellow doesn’t make them anymore. He was making them during the pandemic, but I guess when the pandemic ended he went back to his full-time job.
Anyway, here it is.

Love your content brother 🫡
Thanks for making my day! 💪
What brand jacket you wearing bro?
@whiskey23alpha64 Hi, that’s a Filson
There you are! I’ve been worried about you and really hoping you’d do some new videos. Hope all is well is well and thank you.
Hi Russell, Happy New Year. Always in the woods but not always on TH-cam. Thanks for kind words mate!
Are you in the States?
I am presently, I’ll live here for a couple more years and then go back to the UK

Holy molly how many kilos did have on your back?
approximately 13.6 I know backpackers, who carry more than that
@@TheLoreofBushcraft that back pack looked to me like 17 kilo?
yeah, I weighted it with food
@@TheLoreofBushcraft How long do you hike from you vehicle to that campsite?
@sipapito it all depends, mostly a few kilometres and 45 minutes to one hour. I’m an athlete, I’m an Ultra marathon, I box, I cycle and I lift weights. I’m 50 years old today and I’m in better shape than I was at 20.

I really love the old school methods you used. Thanks for giving us some peace amidst the chaos of life.
Yeah I suppose I’m quite a romantic (old school). I'm honoured that you completely understand my quote. Being in the woods certainly brings me peace and the fact that I can share that peace with others is one good thing that’s valuable in our modern life, technology wise. Cheers mate!
