    Carn, nice camp again. I liked the area you were in. Nice little tarp tent you setup. Looked cozy. You also made some very interesting and tasty looking meals. I’m guessing you just had your pad and wool blanket in the tent. Lao Tzu, was he a Chinese philosopher? Name sounds familiar. Again, a very good video. Best to you, mate.

      Hi Steven, Well, I had a sleeping bag liner stuffed with leaves as my bed and a silk sheet as my blanket (deep summer). Lao Tzu is a philosopher and founder of Taoism. Basically, Taoism is effortless action. For instance: “The bamboo that bends is stronger than the oak that resists” going with the course of water and using that momentum to advance, are examples. Bruce Lee used a quote from him as well and it was “be like water” water can be a powerful force or can flow over things without resistance.

    Well, that certainly looked like an enjoyable time! I sure like that gouge you used to make your bowl. Are you thinking about carving a kuksa coffee cup now? I need to find somewhere to get green coffee beans, I haven’t ever roasted my own before. I bet it tastes so much better. Was that Colman’s you put on your beans? I sure like that mustard. Fine job on the video, as usual! 👍👍👍

    I just remembered another question I had.... what is your sugar “cone” made out of? It seems a lot softer than the one I made. I used about 85% organic sugar, and 15% brown sugar..... added a little water and mixed it up and put it in my mold... a week later it was hard as a rock. I like using it, but I can’t slice mine like you did. I have to scrape mine. It’s good, but I’d like to be able to slice it.

    • @TheLoreofBushcraft
      @TheLoreofBushcraft  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Chris, I really did enjoy my time at that camp.
      Yes, that gouge is a game changer, smooth as can be and lightweight, makes short work of things "that bowl was Oak."
      Well, I have three carved Kuksa's, and 3 gifted Kuksa's in my residence. Of the carved/custom: one as a failure, one is a pristine backup to the failure and then I have the one you see me use all the time. So... when the need comes I'm sure I will make a new one.
      The coffee is quite good indeed! You know how it is when you make something from scratch and it's goodness is the reward 😊
      It's a living history, like stepping back into time.
      The mustard is Whole Foods German mustard which has horseradish in it, yum.
      The sugar comes from Jamaica where they are sugar specialist. It's shipped over in a boat and takes forever to get to me (just like the world renowned Blue Mountain Coffee I order from Jamaica, as well)
      The cones come wrapped in brown paper ready to go.
      I haven't even thought of making it myself, such as yourself. You're a crafty fella my friend.
      I'll put the link to the Green Coffee beans below.
      It's always an honour to have you enjoy my adventures my friend.
      Cheers

    Did those pathfinder food tins really not leak with the wet beans?

    • @TheLoreofBushcraft
      @TheLoreofBushcraft  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello Walter, not at all. I do drain the beans beforehand though. I also line the tins by smearing oil. I make sure to drive them completely after use and then at the oil. No issues here. You will love them. It’s amazing how many uses I’ve come up with them.

    Hi brother. If I wanted to mail something to you, where will I need to send it? I plan to make some new DIY gear while I recover from my knee replacement and I can see that you may like a few of what I have planned. Please let me send you a few items as my way of supporting your endeavors.

      Hi John, yes I understand about your knee, as you may know, I just recovered from meniscus surgery myself.
      I'm happy to be back in the saddle now.
      I hope you heal well soon, I'm with you.
      Your crafts would absolutely be welcomed.

      Hello, 30 fps, unfortunately, in my infinite wisdom I decided to speed the clips post production to create an "all action effect," however, I just ended up shooting myself in the foot. I'm a veteran of the woods, but I'm a novice when it comes to filming. One can see in my last two videos that I learnt natural is best. You were right my friend :)
