Restoration and rebuilding of Dinky, Corgie, and Matchbox diecast toys. Mostly Dinky. I generally like to improve on the original models but sometimes I will try to restore to original condition.

This is a re-release of a video that has lost some of it's sound. This version is the undamaged version. This is an exacting restoration of a Dinky Bentley Ambulance. It is an early version of this model, but I am unsure if it is a pre-war model. OK. I know now that this is not a pre-war model. This is an exciting video for me. I am restoring my own, very first Dinky toy. I have improved much of my equipment so this will be a noticeably better quality video than my previous ones. I hope you enjoy it. This is a redux because I tried to keep this video monetized by deleting the music and much of the voiceover, but I am not able to be monetized because I am a Canadian, small time channel...

Cool
Fabulous restoration Timo cheers Michael
Thanks Michael. On an aside, I was in Sydney and Gold coast during the summer. I couldn't make it to Gravesend (it's a long drive there) but I was thinking about you. Australia is a pretty big-ass country. I was joking with my wife, saying, "Lets take a day trip to Ayer's Rock."
That looks beautiful. Much more realistic. Like you, I was never impressed with Dinkys 2 tone paint schemes. Admire your extreme patience with the chrome masking, knowing full well the sub standard finish I get with Molotow pens. One guy here, Corgi Bob Willis suggested one way of releasing molotow liquid into a tray & brushing it on.
Thanks Ian. I have used the Molotow by decanting it and using a brush. It makes it more accurate, to be sure, but it is still difficult to get an even finish. I won't stop using it, but for big areas, I will use the spray from here on in.
Welcome back! A lovely restoration of the Hudson Sedan. A stunning paint job with special attention to the chroming. The transformation from over-painted distress caterpillar into the lovely automotive butterfly was transcendent! Congrats! Your music was a bit too hot for your commentary at times and double talking tracks marred your explanations a bit. Be seeing you, Timo!❤❤ Stephen
Sorry about the poor sound balancing. I guess I rushed this one too much. I was too eager to post it.
Absolutely gorgeous. I rattle can so would pledge trick work. If so did you only brush it onto the tape?
Thanks Neil. I brushed it where the tape meets the paint. The idea is to fill any gaps with clear stuff so the spray paint doesn't get through. I think it may be better to air brush it, but I haven't tried. From the air brush, it may not travel too far from the tape margin. I found that the straight application of liquid traveled a bit too much, where there was overlapping tape. The pledge works extremely well over rattle can paint, as a clear coat. Several times I destroyed a rattle can finish with a clear finish that caused it to "alligator" on me. Pledge does not dissolve other finishes (except for chrome finishes). I experimented with the new Revell chrome, and even the Pledge took the shine off of that.
Beautiful restoration with additional details, that chrome paint looks great 👍
Thank you for watching. Kippis
Amazing transformation the 2 tone paint looks awesome
Thanks Neil. Cheers
Lovely, Timo. Patiently done, beautifully finished 👍🏻👏🏻👌🏻 Nice to see you back!
Timo looks amazing love the colour scheme and the Chrome well done 👍
Thanks Adrian. Next up will be a straight restoration of a Trojan van. I've been looking forward to this one for half a year.
Glad to see you back Timo, lovely job on that Hudson.
Thank you Kevin. Glad to be back.
Niiiiiice, Timo.......👌🏻👏🏻👍🏻
Thank you. Cheers
Beautiful! Now, you don’t have to worry about your son studying for the bar exam, only your wife sleeping.
Thanks David. I still have to worry about my son, because he is finishing a third law degree in Florida. There was no guarantee he would become a lawyer in Australia, so he started all over, just to be safe. When he becomes a Florida lawyer, next summer, he will be much closer to us, and make double the salary (at least to start). If not, he could apply in Canada, or, as a backup, we could all go down under. Wherever life takes us. Cheers
@@timosdinkydetailingI was thinking about your comments you had to be quiet because he was upstairs studying.
Oh yes. I misunderstood the comment. Can't disturb him now. except by calling him.
G'day again Mate, nice job ones more, love the colour scheme! Armadale West Aust.
Thanks Paul. Is there a lot for tourists to do out west? Got to think about the next big trip. Cheers
@@timosdinkydetailing Timo, there is so much to do here, what ever your thing is, I came here in '71 from Sydney on a 3 week vacation never went back,I was 21 then, am now 74, so yeah its got a lot going for it, cheers Mate! Armadale
Beautiful job Timo, the colours are perfect, fantastic finish ,love it .cheers Laz
Thanks Lazi. That may be my favourite video. Cheers
Where have you been, Brother?? I hope all is well. Best, Stephen ❤
I have been way busy this summer. But I am back now. Sorry I have been so neglectful of my messages.
@@timosdinkydetailing That's perfectly fine. I missed your voice and skills. Best, Stephen
Wow I nearly didn't watch it from the thumbnail picture. You did a fantastic job, I wish you'd make more videos, cheers Graham
Thanks Graham. I have been pretty busy all summer (including going down under). I have a new video coming out and another on the way. Cheers
@@timosdinkydetailing U came to Australia? Where about?
G'day to you ! Job well done Timo, love the Colours, so 40/50s , looks a lot better now, once more well done! Perth West Aust.
Thanks Paul. I have now been down under. Perth... is that close to Sydney? (kidding)
Nice one my mate
Thanks for the visit
That land rover is cool mate
Thanks Knower.
Nice!!!
Thanks for the visit
That's a great colour combo ,really brings it to live .
Thanks Martin. The plain red and white can get a bit boring. Cheers
can't get more canadain than canadian tire. really like this build. awesome job on putting windshield and interior in it
Thanks Neil. I probably wouldn't have made the interior (I was running out of time) but I already had the interior for the beer truck model. I just scaled it up a smidge.
Beautiful restoration Timo well done 👍
Thank Adrian.
Great little casting and fine build for Canada Day!
Thanks SoMo. Canadian casting for a Canadian day. Sorry I'm a bit behind.
I'm so glad you removed the flash from the windows, my OCD was off the scale. Came up a real treat and that final decal on the back of the cab was the cherry.
Thanks Ellesmere. Glad I could allay your OCD. I don't know why I missed it in the very beginning. Maybe I'm not so good with having a deadline.
Timo, your Dominion Day build is a highlight for me every year. Supertest, Canadian Tire... I'll be looking for a Petro Canada or Roots livery next year! The Londontoy got the full dressing up with all of your carefully thought out touches. It really looks spectacular now and makes me homesick for the Great White North. Thanks for participating and ringing the bell once again! 🍁☕👍🇨🇦
You just gave me a couple of good ideas for next Dominion Day!
Very nice, Timo. I do like the way you apply decals. Have a safe Canada Day!
Thanks Jesterger. Those very thin decals are a serious challenge.
Wonderful job!! Lovely toy!!❤❤😊😊
Thanks much. Cheers
An excellent job you have every right to be proud of. The front does have a look of a 41 Ford pickup to it.
Thanks David. Yes, they made that grill look pretty cool.
That's a lovely little thing, Timo. Sure, masking was a pain but was well worth it. The pickup is not so different from an early Corgi or Dinky with your upgrade and, in many respects, far better. I love it! Happy Dominion Day 🇨🇦 ........ The Maple Leaf Forever!
Thanks Jack. This series of toys was very basic compared with Dinky, Corgi, and Matchbox, but they still have their own charm. I will continue with complex masking, because that is the best way to create the look I want. Next one should be epic. Cheers
Timo, I went right from the first bus video to this one and enjoyed them both immensely. You did a bang up job on this with all the details. No decal is insignificant when going for realism. Love the new axle process too. Wish I could do that with Hot Wheels! Take care, my friend. Be seeing you! 🍁☕👍🇨🇦
Thanks Andrew. I have really gotten behind with my messages. It's been a hell of a summer. Cheers Timo
Great model looks great great paint work
Thanks Glyn. Cheers
nice job on that porsche
Thanks Knower. That's also my favourite short, so far.
Nice job on all your enhancements! All the dee-cals looked very proper and correct. The prah-ject went along quite nicely, and uh-ģehn, congrats on such a lovely diecast restoration. Best, Stephen❤❤
Thanks Stephen. Cheers
You did it proud. Spot on.
Thanks Trevor. I'm obviously a bit behind in my messaging.
That absolutely looks the part, Timo...... lovely job too. Youre quite right about the white paint. With lights removed or masked so that only tiny amounts of light showed, the white paint on wings, running boards etc were to give a visual clue during blackout. I think that private drivers often ignored this but LT, as a major organisation, would have been obliged to comply. Anyhoo, she looks marvellous......love it 👍🏻👌🏻👏🏻
Thanks Jack. I guess it was a pretty easy assumption that the white paint gave a pedestrian a better chance of seeing the bus coming during blackout. Cheers
Another big clue was the thing the size of a house trundling down the road......
Well if you listen to the Canadian parliament when they were honoring a Nazi from Ukraine, and thanking him for fighting the Russians. You wouldn't think that I lost uncle's fighting the Germans. Noice restore cheers Graham .
Thanks Graham. Our current government is not something I can be proud of.
@@timosdinkydetailing my government the same. It shocking
Looks great! I don’t think you went overboard, as you were creating a piece of history.
Thanks David. It was fun to do, too.
Superb!
Thanks Fraser. Cheers
Very nice work my friend.
Thank you John. Cheers
Wow a great job. looks so good
Thanks Phophater. Boy am I behind in my messages.
Congratulations. Really looks the part now. Route 25 was a very busy route so a good choice and all the adverts and lettering looks correct. White markings were to help be seen in the blackout as accidents sored. Impressive.
Glad I got that right. I have been well aware of the issues in London because of the blackout, so it was a logical conclusion that those white fenders and the big circle were for improved visibility.
Awesome restomod!
Thanks Adrian. Cheers
Looks amazing Timo well worth doing part 2 well done 👍
Thanks Adrian. Cheers
Beautiful resto! Love the axle technique. It will save a lot of time and frustration.
Thanks Troy. Glad my axle method is appreciated. Cheers
