  • This is the UK version, which has the actual video clips from the TV show removed and replaced by still images. ITV objected to the original version and it is probably blocked in the UK.
    I have made so many replacement parts, I thought I would build a complete toy, for which there is no suitable diecast version.
    Yes, there is a Matchbox Lotus Seven which is too small a scale, and there are a couple of large collectable diecast Sevens, but they are way expensive to customize.
    So here is a 3D printed Lotus Seven for you to print.
    www.thingivers...
    Segments of the original TV show are presented to demonstrate how I determined the colour that the original Lotus Seven in the Prisoner should be painted. The video is of low resolution and the sound is deliberately poor to fit into the "Fair Use" principal.
    Music is by Dennis Wardle. I own the rights to these tracks.

    The best 3D printer resin. I don't have money or time to figure out what is the best resin, but this guy does. I have now moved exclusively to Siraya Tech resins, and they are certainly the best I have used.

    Please note that when I use images from the internet, I am using them under the "Fair Use" provision. My videos are instructional and the use of internet images are for the purpose of research. They are also presented in low resolution and there is no risk that my use will damage the value of the image.

      So far I count three votes for green and one vote for black, which is well backed. I am thinking of making a green one to make everybody happy. Be seeing you.

      Lotus GP cars of this era were to be seen in Green/Yellow until the days of sponsorship reared it's ugly head.

    British Racing Green (a dark green used in various hues was used on a variety of car makers' products) was the standard colour for the Lotus 7. The programme producers may well have used a loan car from Lotus for the filming so I think that I would have gone for brg.

    Nice one! I had a Caterham Super 7 for about ten years and used to delight in driving under car park barriers! The model you have produced is really great - you should be selling these!

    • @timosdinkydetailing
      @timosdinkydetailing  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks Fraser. Unfortunately I can't sell them because I used a free license design and reworked it. I will probably make a dark green version though, because its 5 to one in favour of green as the original colour.
      I saw some Caterhams in Europe a couple of years ago. Otherwise I wouldn't have known they were even in production. Was yours BR Green? Some people think all Sevens were green.

      @@timosdinkydetailing: My Super Seven was white with yellow cycle guards and nosecone, and sat on silver Minilites. Latterly, I added a Cobra-style single hoop rollbar and an aero screen. Very selfish motor - I loved it!
      I did have to sell it though: I could get into it OK, but getting out again was becoming embarrassing!

    Really interesting video, Timo...... and that's as good a looking Lotus as Dinky would've done, if not better. 👌🏻👏🏻👍🏻
    As for the colour controversy, I don't even remember the car from the series, so I have no horse in the race, so to speak. Lotus racing colours were BRG and yellow gold back then though, as was their badge/logo. Not that it matters a jot.....the car looks great and it was fascinating watching its creation from scratch.
    Be seeing you 👌🏻

    Very nice. But the car was not black. It was British Racing Green. You can see and tell in the credits etc....I had no idea that people thought it was black!!! I am English and live in England and saw the Prisoner years after it was released when I was in my 20s. Lotus still make these cars and the colour for the Green is....British Racing! Etc. Its a very old colour and traditional, going back decades. I even think that today you can get the Lotus 7 still and one of the colour schemes is from the prisoner with the yellow nose and green body. The later episode green one was the wrong shade of green. BUT since it was in the show like that, does it not make it the right shade? Hehheheheh...

    • @timosdinkydetailing
      @timosdinkydetailing  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As I said, there is quite a controversy about that online. Looks black to me, except for the obviously green one in "Fall Out". I originally made this video with actual video from the show, not just the still pictures, but ITT objected and it would have been blocked in the UK, where a third of my audience resides. By accident, the blocked version was released by TH-cam too. I think I will keep both versions.

      @@timosdinkydetailing I know its hard to work out, but it was dark green. The trouble with the show is that most of the scenes the car appeared in its sunny. Very sunny. So the light reflects off the car a lot. Add in glare, the age of it and the film stock used and its hard to tell and it looks black. BUT in a couple of shots you can see its green, a dark green, but due to the sun the bonnet looks black, you need to look further back on the car. Lastly I had a British Racing Green MX5 for years. The same colour. In a lot of photos I took of it on sunny days it looks black, depending on where I am standing, how close I am etc and where the sun is in the sky. It also has a lot to do with how well the car is polished. How shiny the paint is reflecting the light....

      @@Simon-xc5oy I did say it was a controversy. Here is what the aussienurseflipper said, over on the "Non UK version of this similar video (which includes three video clips from the Prisoner, instead of still photos):
      "Gr8 build Timo. The guy who originally owned it stated on many occasions, it was black. But I personally would have painted it a dark British racing green."
      Also, Patrick McGoohan couldn't remember what colour it was. Still, I may do a green version one day, just to make both sides happy. Cheers

      @@timosdinkydetailing Heh, I know I read that myself. Still dont care what people say, there may have been a black car used at some point, but the credits one was green. The irony is that the later episode one is the wrong shade of green much lighter. Its certainly not British Racing Green. Who knew that there were so many versions. All I know is that the black looks...wrong. The green and yellow do work the best...Mind you I am used to seeing these cars with alloy wheels and with spokes etc not 60s era metal hubcaps. I nearly bought one of the real cars some years ago. What stopped me was the fact it was just totally impractical in the Uk. The weather for a start. I would have had to drive it in full motorbike leathers with helmet etc....which led me onto the safety of the thing. Nothing wrong with the car, but if someone hits you, you will die. There is no airbag or much in the way of side protection. And seeing as how it was so small, and so low, most idiots would not even see you, especially lorry drivers. I had premonitions of one just rolling over the top of me and the driver would not even notice. About the only place the car would be in its element is on a track. You never see these cars on British roads that much, people who own them have them as a second car or a project etc. They only come out on fine days....which in the Uk is about twice a year if that.....
