I'm gonna try trolling baitcrank or small spoon next time and also i would love to catch some bigger ones on fly rod ! its awesome spot to spend ur day fishing. enjoy.cheers
Awesome video guys! What a beautiful day! 💯⚓️😎
Thank you! You guys built one hell of a boat here ⚓️ We absolutely love our LX420.
always nice to see local waters. i've prawned indian arm numerous times and honestly... just go to howe sound, it's alot more productive. that spot you dropped is quite well known, another reason why it's abit empty... i will say that you could have dropped higher up the arm where you went and you may have caught some more (still not alot). pm if you want to chat!
Appreciate the advice, Howard! I’ll have to check out Howe Sound next time or head further up the arm. Hopefully see you out there!
Thanks for watching! 🙌🏻
Guys, you dropped your crab trap right in front of my cabin! sick!
Beautiful spot for it! Any tips on finding the prawns? Haha 😂
Another great video Chris. Is that the same waterfall you been to in past videos.
Cheers, Chris! Yes it is the same waterfall from my previous video. This inlet is our local waterway, so we’re out here quite often when the weathers not too favourable further out. Tough to complain haha
Wow been a long time glad to see you posting again. Hope you had a great summer Murphy sure gas grown. She sure wanted to grab that fish out if the water lol thanks for sharing Chris as usual.
Hey Chris! Hope you’re doing well. Glad to be back at it! It was a great summer. Plenty of down time to recharge and hang out with Murphy. Thanks again for watching and supporting the channel.
It was a great day despite the lack of delicious prawns 😂
You can’t win them all but it was a great day! 🦀
nice video, sucks theres no shrimps hope you can get them next time
Next time hopefully🤞🏻 Thanks for watching!
great video dude. beautiful wilderness for camping. that's a lucky dog he must it out there. it inspires me to take my dogs out camping
Absolute whopper in the thumbnail! And quite a big fish, too.
😂😂😂😂 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
thats classic BCParks idiocy..the starter put in is 2.5 kms from the parking lot..
😂😂😂😂 they make you work for it that’s for sure!
Most down sleeping bags have down treatment and water resistant outer so if the condensation does become a issue u just dry it in the morning
Yep, definitely agree that the down options are getting a lot better at handling moisture. Thanks for watching!
She doesn't always paddle holding the paddle backwards, but when she does, she drinks Dos Equis! 😂 Amazing scenery out there! I want to take my SIB out there sometime soon and do some marine camping.
😂😂😂😂 it’s not pretty but it gets the job done! It’s incredible up there! Definitely recommend going up for a rip. Especially if you’ve already got a SIB. Perfect playground for it. We’re planning to do the same next summer. Thanks for watching!
@@cedarcabinsociety I'm guessing it gets busy up there during the summer. You've been in some beautiful areas. Looking into exploring some of the other areas in your videos. Keep them coming...
Wow... This is amazing. I envy your life. Did you take any sea kayaking lessons to feel more comfortable kayaking/paddle boarding in open water or did you just do it and learn as you go? Again beautiful video and beautiful trip!
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it. We did 2 or 3 self-guided trips on the paddleboards before this to prepare and test gear. The conditions in Howe Sound can change quickly, so I’d definitely recommend getting some experience crossing open water channels before you tackle this.
I live down in Surrey, do you know of any spots around here besides green timbers and latimer pond?
I’m afraid I don’t unfortunately. I haven’t really spent much time over there yet.
That big white label flipping on the tarp tells me it’s time to celebrate 🎉 take it off man
😂😂😂😂
Which model Stryker do you have and size? I had the pro 420 with the new 30hp mercury. It was almost too fast with only two people on board but was awesome having the power when I went on a couple day trip with 3 guys on board and fully loaded with gear. I really liked the boat but decided wasn’t going to fold it up so I bought a 4.6 metre Highfield rib.
Thanks for watching! I have a Stryker LX420 and it’s 14ft in length. I had a 6HP merc on it in this video but I’ve since upgraded to a 20HP electric start. It’s a rocket ship with a 20 on it, so a 30 must have been real fun to rip around in. I know exactly what you mean about folding it up. 😅 The highfields are a really great bit kit too. I’d love to try one of them at some point.
Hey there as a fellow Stryker mission specialist let me hip you to an essential piece of kit. The Anchor Buddy. No more wading/ swimming out to get the boat. Also I highly recommend running up the Harrison River from Kilby into the Harrison lake to Rainbow Falls. Very scenic adventure for filming. Cheers.
Is this set up lighter than a tent? Looks fun to do actually. And you can ditch the tarp if there’s no rain.
It definitely can be but it mostly depends on the weight of the tarp being used. The bivy bag weighs ~500g, so if you can keep the weight of the tarp down it’ll come in under 1kg total. I still use lightweight tents more than this setup but that’s mostly because my dog likes to sleep inside the tent with me 😂
Very good content and execellent video quality!
Thanks so much for watching!
first set of prints were too close together for deer. Coyote maybe. Second set (webbed) were geese or swans maybe.
Thank you!
I am new to fishing. And I am planning to go to capilano river to try coho fishing this weekend. I have some questions! Is this currently a good season to do coho fishing? What is the best time of the day? And any recommendations for spots in the river?
Thanks for watching! I haven’t had chance to fish the capilano yet this year, so I can’t say if it’s a good season or not unfortunately. I fished it at first light last year and had some success, so I’d try that. For spots, I’d start just below the hatchery at cable pool. Always check the river level before you go though, as capilano is dam controlled and the river can rise unexpectedly.
@@cedarcabinsocietyWhere is the cable pool by the hatchery? 😊
It’s directly under the bride right below the hatchery.
@@cedarcabinsociety Thank you sir! Wondering where did you parked? 😊
@@NewFisher no worries! there’s a car park attached the to hatchery but if you go at sunrise you’ll need to park just before the barrier and walk the rest of the way down.
Hi. Great way to spend a lovely morning. I'd like to try this as well. Were those public piers that launched from and stopped at for lunch? If so, where are they located?
Thanks for watching! Yes, they are both public docks. I launched at Cates Park in North Vancouver and stopped for lunch at Twin Islands Provincial Park.
@@cedarcabinsociety Thanks. I thought I recognized Cates Park. But I havent stopped at that island before. I'm looking forward to trying it.
Cable pool be doing that, it holds some big fish. But they are extremely picky. So it’s a hit or miss. Further down river at the mouth of the capilano where the river spills into the ocean. I find it much better. I got a 13 pound coho. Awesome video by the way 👍🏼
Definitely agree! I’ve had much better luck at the mouth of the Cap too. Hoping to get back out again shortly. Tight lines!
beautiful video man. stunning area to enjoy a camping trip. i really enjoyed the background info on the area.
Awesome looking inflatable how durable would you say the seams are? Welded or glued? Also is the bottom pretty durable against rocks and gravel?
Thanks for watching! I believe the seems are glued but I’m not 100% sure on that. It’s a great little inflatable for calm waters and sandy beaches but I wouldn’t trust it in anything more than that. I’ve since upgraded to a more rugged and versatile inflatable boat by a local company called Stryker, so I’m getting the Paddleski ready to sell.
@@cedarcabinsociety Sounds good I’ve been doing some research on another brand called True Kit they’re Tactician Model looks like a good inflatable 😎🍻
@@user-ktm890rider I’ve heard of that brand but not that model. I’ll have to check it out!
For some reason, those ducks bobbing in the waves made me really happy.
Also, thanks for being honest about the food. It can be hard to trust some folks when everything is the best ever.
No problem at all! The dehydrated meals are by no means cheap, so I try to give folks as much info as I can to help before they buy.
Do you ever just feel too tired to camp? I love being outside for as long as possible. The labor involved, though, dissuades me from doing it more often.
Thanks so much for watching! I definitely get tired of doing the back to back remote camping trips. I don’t currently have anywhere to store a trailer, so I have to build and break the boat down before and after every trip, which can be very taxing. I love doing these trips though, so it always keeps me coming back for more.
Really beautiful all around.
Thanks so much for watching! Glad you enjoyed it.
Great video! Curious if I need to make a camping reservation for summit camping ?
Thanks for watching! I’m actually not sure if you need a reservation for summit camping but my best guess is yes.
This was cool!
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it
Going on a day trip this weekend with Powell River Kayaks and wanted to get a glimpse of what to expect. So excited!
It’s an incredible area! You won’t regret it
I don't see how setting up a tarp above a bivvy will reduce condensation inside the bivvy
Because the head of the bivy can remain open and unzipped while still being protected from inclement weather
what boat are you using?
Sea Eagle Paddleski 437
@@cedarcabinsociety that’s really cool! thank you!
No worries!
Your outdoor camping content is just as good as some huge channels I follow. Well done keep it up
Wow thanks so much! That’s made my day 🙌🏻 Great to have you with us.
Did you accidentally smack the dog with the paddle? Lol you came so close as doggy was swimming directly in the line of fire. That must be one of the happiest dogs in the world, having outdoor adventures with dad. 🐕💚
Hahah I’ve almost done that a few times with the paddle 🤦♂️😅 I certainly like to think she’s the happiest dog in the world. It makes it all worth while seeing her ripping around the bush and enjoying life. Thanks again for watching!
They’re called Salmon Berries
Thanks for letting me know! I didn’t know that.
@@cedarcabinsociety Np. Be careful when you eat them. They’re not like raspberries, the seeds are hard as stone. Can easily break a tooth!
What happened with the Sea Eagle Paddle Ski?...Did U not like it? & if U like the Stryker better, can U tell us why? Thanks, as I'm currently shopping for an Inflatable Kayak...😊
Hey - thanks for watching! I really love my paddleski as a solo boat for calm waters/lakes, as I think this is where it performs at its best. Unfortunately, since I purchased it, my needs have changed a lot and I now need more space to bring my dog, gf and gear along on adventures. I also like to salmon fish locally using heavier down-riggers that the paddleski can’t support, so having a more stable and rugged boat that handles ocean swell better gives me more peace of mind. Regarding the paddling experience, it’s doable for short distances (<5km) but personally I wouldn’t use it without an outboard or trolling motor, as it can be quite challenging to handle when the wind kicks up. I think it works best with a combo of both to cover distance on the motor and get in shallow using the paddle.
Hey! I stumbled across your videos which are awesome (subbed by the way) and you have me really interested in the Paddleski. I'm also based in Vancouver and would be taking it out around Indian Arm. I noticed in recent vids you aren't taking it out as much anymore. Wondering how your experience of using it purely in paddling mode for longer distances has been or are you always using it with a motor?
Hey - thank you, I really appreciate that. Great to have you onboard. I can definitely help on the paddleski front. Let me quickly caveat things by saying that I really love my paddleski as a solo boat for calm waters/lakes, as I think this is where it performs at its best. Wow, you nailed the feels man! I have done this many times in washington state, so similar terrain. I'd take by awesome doggo out into the boat and explore the coastal mountains and forests, using the row boat to traverse. Being ALL ALONE, just me, a bearded bloke with a row boat, myself, my goofy silly dog, and nature. Sadly I lost the best friend I ever had. Camping isn't the same without that good ol pupper. This vid brought back good memories. I miss my dog :-(
Cheers, glad you enjoyed it. We’re so spoiled for epic terrain up here in the PNW and awesome to hear about your row boat adventures with your doggo. I’m really sorry your pups not with you anymore. I know I’ll be an absolute mess when that day comes. Very happy to hear its bringing back good memories though and great to have you onboard.

I lost my fly box at the cable pool and didn't figure out how to reach this area. It must have ended up there somewhere eventually or kept going. I was heart broken that day
Ah that sucks! Sorry to hear that. I’m sure it will make someone very happy wherever it showed up next.
Setting up a bivy underneath a tarp is a unique choice. Why not just go with a lightweight tent?
Personal preference mainly. It’s nice to mix it up from time to time.
Not unique at all... best of both worlds, plus if it's raining, you can set up camp underneath the tarp. Depends on what type of experience you're looking for...
Tarps are nice and roomy and way less isolating than a tent. Not right for all occasions of course but a very nice alternative.
