Do you remove the bands the next day when you open kettle and store without them?
Hi. You could remove them but I don’t. I just leave them on.
Hi, How do you keep the coffee grounds out of your coffee cup? Thank you.
Hi. Once you remove it from the heat and it stops boiling, the grounds will settle to the bottom of the pot. Just give it a few minutes. You still may get a few grounds but almost all will be at the bottom of your cup.
Thats how they do it in Italy
Great advice ❤❤❤
Do have a recipe for like this for blackberry jelly
Check out the strawberry jelly video on our channel. I make blackberry jelly the same way using the sure jell recipe for blackberry jelly. I do not use water. I just use the fresh juice. I taste so much better.
I am concerned that you are able to break the seal to easy when you open them , I half to use an opener with my water bath canned items
I don’t consider it easy to open them. This is the only way I’ve canned tomatoes since I was a kid and it works for me. I’ve got 5 year old jars of tomatoes in my pantry and they are still good. I don’t discount the water bath for folks that want to use it. I just don’t need it.
Thanks peeps 😻
So many unsafe procedures and instructions. Open kettle is a OLD method and NOT safe.
I’ll wait until you come back on here with proof of your statement. So basically you’re saying it’s old so it’s unsafe? Just because it’s an old method doesn’t mean it’s unsafe when done correctly. The canning police want you to purchase a bunch of equipment that you really don’t need and folks have canned like this for generations. I CLEARLY state in the video to can with the water bath if you want.
I just made this, it’s delicious! Thanks for sharing your recipe.
Awesome!! It is tasty!
I can't wait to try this.
This is one of our favorites.
What a beautiful strawberry jelly, useful knowledge.🎉
Thanks and it tastes so good!
how come that he turns them over for 5 minutes at the end? is there a reason for that? id love to know

I'm probably going to switch to exchange...one of my refills a while back I think got water in my tanks. Was SUCH a pain to diagnose the issue too. First I thought it was an issue with my grill. Then I realized the regulator had gone bad. Then after another year and another regulator going bad in the same way did I finally put two and two together lol. All it takes is someone at the refill not knowing what they're doing and not flushing their lines before filling you up, and you can end up with having to spend one or two hundred dollars on new tanks. Definitely more than the 30-40% cost saving you get from doing refills yourself.
Interesting!! I’ve honestly never had this happen but I can see it would be a huge pain.
I use scissors to cut the stems off. It’s a lot faster.
Nice!! Great idea!
"Modern" canning is so dramatic 🙄. Simple and safe like this is always better.
Ok, I have a question. I have several gallons of blackberries in my freezer and want to can them today. However, I've Never seen someone can without water bath or pressure canning. When you preserve in this manner what kind of shelf life does the jam have?
Hi. They last in the pantry 12-18 months. I just finished off a jar from last year. This is the open kettle method that was the recommended method before water bath became recommended sometime in the 1980’s. The key is to get the hot jam into the hot jars quickly and they seal for me every time. Just like I was taught by my grandparents and it’s in most old canning books.
@@useful.knowledge Thank you Very much for answering me So quickly. I need to get my freezer cleaned out today!
Tried this method for canning tomatoes last year. So easy. I haven't lost a can yet.
Great to hear. Thanks for sharing.
Looks like a manufacturing defent with smooth bubbles like that. If glass breaks, it breaks completely. One time I had a row of chips on the mouth. My best guess was that the part was wet when a lid was put on and it was put in the freezer. So there was ice between the glass and the lid. I found chips after I had consumed the contents.
Awesome I’m going to try this method myself thank you for sharing ❤
Thank you!

Nice apple jelly, useful knowledge.
Thanks
I just picked about 40 pounds off one tree (Got them before the deer this year! LOL) I have 4 more trees that will be ready in 7-10 days!! I have a nectarine tree that will probably have 15-20 pounds.
That sounds like a great harvest.
I couldn’t figure out this odd pinging noise that was happening all summer. It turns out it was the lids pinging from unopened cases on a shelf lol. I thought it was something electrical lmao.
They will do it and make you wonder what’s going on!
my family loves the jams that I have been making using your recipes and method. I have been asked to make Apple Butter. I was wondering if you have a recipe and/or if you would consider doing a video. Side NOTE: your Clover Blossom jelly was a HUGE it!!!!!!
Hi. Thanks!!! We will be making an apple butter video this year. Probably early September when some of our local apples are ready.
If you’re camping in cold or cool weather, I would use a sleeping pad with an r value that will keep you warm at night. Normal air mattress are cold. Just my experience. Thx for the videos!
Definitely good advice. I sleep on my side so it’s always been a trade off for me between the comfort of an air mattress or sleeping pad. I have doubled up an old wool blanket for some extra r value on top of the air mattress. Thanks
Thank you sir I followed the instructions it’s perfect thank you!!
Awesome! Thanks for letting us know! Enjoy.
Wtf was ram thinking getting rid of the column shifter on the 2500 gassers 🤦♂️

Wow! Thanks for showing me how to make pineapple jelly. And the pineapple jelly looks really good.❤
I can't get enough of this! I'm already motivated! - "Triumph emerges from unwavering dedication and relentless effort."
Thanks for sharing that!!
Beautiful figs trees
Thanks!
Got black raspberries simmering on the stove as I type. I found your honeysuckle video last year and used the method for honeysuckle jelly and then for clover jelly. Success! So I came back to see how tou made jam. My grandmom used wax to seal her jams and jellys and never owned a pressure canner in jer lifetime, and we all lived to tell the tale. So got a little bit of rebel canning in me. 😅 I use the jellys to sweeten my tea. This will go perfect with those morning biscuits and tea.❤
Awesome!! Thanks for sharing. I look over at the “Gulf Wax” on the canning isle and just smile knowing that a small few still use the wax. Many around here use open kettle for jams, jelly, and tomatoes. They and I will never water bath.
Thank you. This video helps.😊
Glad it was helpful!
😮😊❤❤❤❤🙇♀️
Thank you. Eye protection …. Metal shavings can get behind eye and you dont know it. If you ever need an mri. Those fragments will be drawn by the magnet and blind you. Pls wear protection.
Absolutely beautiful job❤
Thanks very much!!
Hi, thanks for the informative videos. I came here after seeing a Reddit post from 9 months ago where someone mentioned that Classico changed their lids to a lug type, so they can't be used for hot and dry canning anymore. Do you know if this is true? I have 6 32oz Classico pasta sauce Atlas Mason jars that I got at BJ's. I cleaned them out and planned on using it to dry vacuum seal goods like rice and beans. Thanks in advance if you ever reply back.
Hi. I’m canning blueberry syrup in the 24 oz jars right now. Nothing has changed on the 24 oz size. Get some regular sized mason jar lids and bands and see if they fit the 32 oz. It looks like they will.
Jamie, can you do a video on how to make a simple ketchup?, we love your videos, we use them ALOT, and have learned so much from you! Thank you for shareing, God bless.❤😊
Hi. I did just run across a simple recipe for ketchup just last week. That’s a good idea for a video. It may be a few weeks but I’ll try to get one out.
very satisfying
Do you keave the jars upside down until they seal or just fir 5 minutes then flip them iver and wait for them to seal?
No. Leave them upside down for 5 minutes and then flip them over. They should start to seal in 30-60 minutes. You will hear them ping.
My figs are in already. Some even overripe. Too many for me. Trying to learn how to preserve them.
Wow!! I’m jealous! Mine are at least a month out.
Do you have to use that much of sugar?
How long Do You Keep The Jars In The Oven at 250⁰?
15 minutes is plenty.
Merci Beaucoup ❗️❤️👌
I just made these can you tell me how long they are good for in the jars as long as I’ve done this correctly[ thank you for any help
Hi. Check the center of the lid. If it’s slightly indented and you can’t press it in, it’s sealed. Once sealed 12-18 months in the pantry. After opening, several weeks to months later b the fridge.
Great video, thank you.
Thanks!!
Travel Trailers are like giant sails so even if they dont weigh as much, the wind resistance affects your MPG quite a bit.
Truth!!
We used this recipe last year and they turned out great. Everyone loved them. The only thing different is we added some thin slices of lemon while cooking down. They add just a little extra zing and the lemon rind tastes wonderful as well. It is fig time again in about a week here in Texas and we will be using this recipe again this year. Thanks for the great and oh so easy recipe.
Awesome!! Thanks for sharing! I bet those lemon rinds do taste great in the figs!
This is my 1st time ever making fig preserves and I am going to use your recipe. I am thinking I am supposed to use a water bath. I will give an update.
Hi. You can use the water bath method. I use the open kettle method which is the predecessor to water bath. Do whatever makes you comfortable on the canning method.
Fig balls ! Yummy !❤❤❤❤
