I just bought a whole flat of strawberries yesterday from a fruit stand and went home and prepped them and put them in freezer bags so I can freeze them until other fruits are in season to make some really good jam. Can't wait
How long should the jars be in the oven? I did a batch with just sugar and strawberries. Came out great from what I can tell. Maybe a little thin. That’s ok. A Mennonite lady taught me how to can. SHE SAID PUT A PAT A BUTTER IN THE MIXTURE WHILE COOKING AND YOU WON’T HAVE TO SKIM THE TOP!! It works. 💜
Hi. 15 minutes in the oven. Yeah, if you left out the pectin, it’s going to be more like a sauce. However anything with strawberries and sugar is great in my book.
@@useful.knowledge one more question. I made a batch of strawberry jam, this time I used pectin. I used the oven method again. I didn’t hear any popping. Some were sealed. When I touched the middle some weren’t sealed, BUT the middle went down like a seal. ARE THESE CONSIDERED PROPERLY SEALED? (Hope so). I had one jar that didn’t seal for sure, it’s in the fridge. Thanks so much.
Hi. If they were in the process of cooling down and you touched it and it sealed, they are good. I have that happen sometimes. If the lid pops back up, it’s not sealed.
Hi. Yes, you can use the whole strawberry and mash them up and make jam. You can make jam with pectin or the old timey way without pectin. We have a video on our channel from several years ago about making jam without pectin
Yes! An elderly lady that lives near me still puts it on top of her jams. That’s why they still sell the wax with canning supplies. I’m sure canning police would hyperventilate if they saw her canning but why should she change if it works for her? Thanks!!
We have two other videos on strawberry jam, including one for freezer jam. th-cam.com/video/_bupq-y2i4Q/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/AjMc6BbCZuA/w-d-xo.html
Jamie. We always keep all of the strawberry tops and bits and pieces. Then put them out in the garden and we get quite a few strawberry plants from them. Also the ones that dont sprout are just helping the soil regenerate. )
Thank you. No unnecessary chatter, just "Useful Knowledge." No pun intended. 😊
😂. Thanks!!
What a beautiful strawberry jelly, useful knowledge.🎉
Thanks and it tastes so good!
I’m going to try this. Love your recipes.
Thanks!! I originally made this because we have several family members and neighbors that can’t have seeds. Now I also like it better than jam! Enjoy!

Great video. I’m making some tomorrow. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with the world.
Thanks very much!!
Absolutely love learning from you. Excellent video.
Thanks and hello again!
yum😋
I will take one dozen😋
👀🤣
Thanks for sharing. You make very good videos.
Thanks!! Much appreciated!
I would love to taste this strawberry jelly
I really love jam good job!
Me too. A lot of people don't like the strawberry seeds in the jam, so that's why we made the jelly.

Can you make jelly like you did the blackberries recipe.????
Can you make jelly with the whole strawberry? I also enjoy your videos
Thanks! Are you wanting to leave the strawberries whole?
@@useful.knowledge yes sir I didn't know if you could use the whole strawberry or if it had to be just the juice.

@@useful.knowledge thank you! This is one of my favorite channels on TH-cam
Thanks!! Much appreciated!!
Looks so yummy
Honestly, this my favorite jelly that I make.
I have juiced my strawberrys. Juice is in freezer. Cant wait to make it. Thank you
Awesome! This have honestly became my favorite jelly.
Can you use the pulp instead of straining it?
Hi. Yes but if you do that, you are just making jam instead of jelly. It will still be tasty
That looks so delicious, my strawberries are just starting to ripen, for your cutoff stem pieces I dry them out and have strawberry tea.
Sounds great! Good idea!
How long do these last in pantry after making??
Hi. At least 12-18 months in the pantry after sealing.
I remember putting wax on top of our jams instead of lids

Sir, where did you get your metal strainers??? TYIA
Hi. I’m pretty certain that I got them at Walmart.
can i run the straberries through a juicer to begin with instead?
Hi. You could try it on a few and see if you get a good drip of juice.
I dont use cheesecloth. I use cotten flour sacks. They dont let the seeds fall thru.
👀. I will try that.
Do you remove the bands the next day when you open kettle and store without them?
Hi. You could remove them but I don’t. I just leave them on.
Could u use a juicer?
Hi. If it separates the seeds and doesn’t grind them up, I think it would work
How long will these last on the shelf unopened
Hi. That last at least a year in the pantry.
Can I use frozen strawberries?
Yes.
Why didn’t you use an acid like lemon juice?
Hi. The strawberries are plenty acidic for a good set with the sure gel. I honestly just don’t like the added tartness for my jelly.
Thank you. I opened the box of sure jel and to my dismay the recipe for JELLY was not present.
Enjoy that jelly!
I make freezer jam, it's much easier.

Disregard my last comment I just found your other video. Thanks
2 points deducted for not saying "berry best" at the end
Dangit!! 😂
We always just took the stem out with the point of pairing knife works. Great , let's fruit gone
