Giving Credit on Social Media: Are We Taking It Too Far?
Hello! Welcome or welcome back to my channel!
In today's video, I’m diving into the debate around giving credit on social media: has the pressure to credit every idea, trend, or post gone too far?
Don't get me wrong, creators do deserve credit when it’s original and can be easily traced back to them, but where’s the line between fair recognition and over-crediting?
I’ll explore two recent examples: a creator trying to claim credit for a New York design sweater paired with leopard print jeans, and a makeup artist asserting they were the first to create a Halloween zombie makeup look. These cases possibly highlight how social media's obsession with credit might be causing more issues than it solves. Is the culture of attribution stifling creativity, or helping creators get the recognition they deserve?
As I share my thoughts, I would love to hear your opinions down in the comment. Thanks for watching! Kindly like, share and subscribe ❤️

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (nick named Mormons) I live in Canada. I just want to say that I haven’t herd a church leader (a prophet or apostle) say that we should avoid coffee because of the caffeine. It has been said that it can be addictive, however we are counselled to use all things in moderation (which maybe pop is something a lot of members struggle with having in moderation). People are also just people, if we were perfect we wouldn’t need Jesus. That is why we have the church, it gives us the process for how we can come to Jesus and use his help to become better. I’m not a church leader, but the negativity kind of hurts my heart so I wanted to say something. Also, the secret life of Mormon wife’s is really not an accurate representation of the majority of church members. If you’d like to meet real church members, I believe there is a church building in every major city in North and probably South America. If you’re interested google maps will show you the way, find out first hand for yourself.
Sugar addicts
That Tiktok of the couple on a soda crawl made me so nauseous
As someone who loves soda. Eep.
I find it so weird when a religion excludes a certain food or food group.
Addiction is Addiction
If you actually believe that you are getting amazing quality products at places like dior, chanel, gucci, etc. you are delusional and I don't understand how people don't see that it's not expensive because it's high quality but because of the brand's name. The people in charge who actually cared about it being high quality are long gone
Definitely the most interesting & informative channel in TH-cam,and I am your fan! I’ve been watching MOMCOCO and buying them recently to complement my bag collection. Good video
Being pretty apart of Mormon culture too? Also am I the only one who read the thumbnail as Moron Coffee?😂
Exact same thing as the ~2010 boba drink craze on the west coast. Caffeine + sugar + creamer.
Pathetic
They knew who Oprah was,I can’t believe she fell for that high school sales pitch..😅
"as a member you have to fall in line" what kind of religion talks like this? No faith in a statement like that whatsoever
On the topic of watertok, some people actually need to drink water with drink mix due to having electrolyte imbalances. I have colon issues that cause me to need to drink tons of water and with that I also lose tons of water. Having vitamin and electrolyte drink mixes keeps me hydrated better than drinking plain water. I also drink tons of herbal teas and green tea as well for the health benefits. I don't agree with adding tons of syrups to your water though, might as well just drink soda at that point.
Don't trust wops
Ngl, this feels like a pro drug use PSA. 5:23 blue curaçao contains alcohol last time I checked.
And now brands just give products to influencers. Make it make sense...
They’d categorize that as part of the marketing budget
@Itsbabygirlt I understand that part. There are certain items marked for giveaways, pr packages. Etc. Luxury brands used to care about who was seen with their products. I've seen these random influences with no alignment show off gifts from Luxury brands. I understand wanting to be seen and using the latest platforms to do so, but there is no standard anymore it seems... maybe it's just me
Girl, how do you not know how to pronounce Amish! How sheltered does one have to be to not know the pronunciation?
I think the worst part of the ozempic trend is that, eventually, people started to mock people they believed to be on it. Those people are likely the same people who mock fat people, the same people who say they dont wanna see fat people in athletic gear ads but scream in their faces that they should be in the gym. You literally cannot win.
I mean I assume they're getting their materials wholesale, but I could easily see a purse costing a hundred dollars or more in materials for a hobbyist. Especially if it's lined. If I had money, I'd be willing to pay up to $1000 depending on size and quality for a large purse. I know how much leather costs and I believe in paying a livable wage... But I cannot imagine paying 450k on a puse. That's just the label and I'm not having that 🤨
Who's gonna tell them the caffeine from soda is FROM coffee.
Girl, this video is making me want an Italian Soda soooooooooooooo bad right now. A strawberry one with cream using a strawberry Bubly as base with strawberry slices.
As someone from the PNW, from a town that was pretty much just Pentecostals and LDS (Mormon) I grew up with friends who LOVE making soda drinks. I was raised Pentecostal so I could drink coffee and tea and did, but my LDS friends got me addicted to soda (to this day.) I LOVE "Mormon Soda," which is legit just flavored Italian Soda. Sparkling Water (or Soda base), Flavors, Optional Cream. Edit: Also, until today I thought the WHOLE COUNTRY was super into Italian sodas and Energy Drink Sparklers (like Red bull with blue raspberry syrup and cream.) Now, I'm wonder what else is uniquely a West Coast thing (WA, OR, CA, ID, UT)
I wanna try it ❤
If you ask someone to credit you and they do, then you kindly CALM THE HECK DOWN, why was the MUA who wanted to be tagged acting so OTT. Like girlie pop, if you act like that you don't deserve tags. Take like 20 steps back, learn how the industry works, take a nice deep breath, and come back when you've matured enough to handle this industry. Brands and people you want to collab with are not going to care how old you are & are not going to give you an ounce of grace, so if you can't handle that yet, don't get invested in it for the sake of not only your future career but your mental health.
New money shouts, old money whispers.
i thought mormons couldn't have caffeine
Criticism of Mormon culture will send you to Heck...
Damn, might as well do lines of cocaine at this point.
Mormons holding the sugar and soda industry up by the power of Christ
I make bags and other accessories by hand. It takes a lot of time and skill. But friends and family would think I’m too expensive selling a leather bag or crochet hat but will buy some crap designer item for 5times the price.
I think if we can start viewing these as desserts rather than drinks, people would cut back.
on the topic of replicas, I've live in Turkey all my life until 2 months ago where you see fake designer in almost every corner. Not even proper stores, they sell them in stalls at farmer's market or on a piece of cloth on the streets. I was in the need of a handbag yet had no money since I was in school and didn't want to burden my parents with an expensive one, so I got a style that I liked from a stall which was a Prada replica. The og bag is around 79-84K Turkish Liras while mine was around 150-250 Turkish liras. It looked identical and whenever I told someone that it was a replica, people seemed to be in shock and go "I could never tell". I have family who lives abroad and they weren't so familiar with the said replicas. I complimented one of their bags (bc it was a really nice bag) and she went "well, you have a Prada. its nothing compared to that" in a joking manner and she was surprised when I told her that it was a knock-off. It's all about social currency rather than the material value of the item.
non-related to the topic but this video made me subscribe to you omg! I love your way of executing the topic, it's both for those into fashion and those who doesn't know much about it. it's between subjective and objective n I loved it. gonna binge ur channel now
I'm glad I never heard of this trend when I was active in the LDS church years ago. I remember my mom-in-law avoiding cola and migraine meds with caffeine in them back then.
I laughed out loud when the guy at LV who paints the trunks, talks to her WITH HIS EARBUDS IN HIS EAR 😂 this is so disrespectful when working in customer service. Also his body language, sitting in the chair, almost lounging, it just gives the feeling of "I cant be bothered, I realy dont care, whatever...". Yeah people, thats your "luxury" right there....pathetic
The new york outfit ‘issue’ is ridiculous. The lady who got accused was being way too nice. If I were her, I would’ve made a 1 minute video of me just laughing into the camera as a response
😂 if you had done that, it would have gone even more viral than it already did
I ended a friendship because a girl flipped out so bad , she was upset that I shared her fb post that she had shared from a really popular account , and I didn't like her post before reposting. . She flipped so bad I had to block her and her number from my phone , my boyfriends, and my best friends phone
Omg?! Over a post that she herself had reposted
The fact that Mormon Heaven has subscription tiers is fucking wild to me.
There are levels to heaven and hell in Christianity too
This is SUCH a great question.
THANKS
The cosplay community is a mess with crediting.
Really? Isn’t it the same characters that everyone dresses up as?
@Itsbabygirlt ag it's silly thing like putting pockets in shields or the way someone does a bow that stays up and stiff, instead of sagging. There is some sort of caption copying as well. But it's just good not to be involved with the community. Every hobby has its drama.
Though the one thing we do enforce is crediting commissions and photographers/videographers.
Lets not even start with special diets either. I have to eat gluten free and the price of bread, pasta, cereal, and other basics is 1.5-3x the cost of the regular version. If you have to eat dairy free, vegan substitutes are also 2-3x more expensive. It's ridiculous
Yes that’s a good point!
The whole "things taste different" is also largely due to COVID. No one is talking about the long lasting effects on the brain and body but a major one is changes in smell and taste.
10 wives is okey dokey but a taste of the whiskey is far too risky.
Too risky
0:01 the Utah accent is different than I imagined.
You are incorrect about covering a song: permission is not needed. Anyone can cover any song, as long as they pay the proper licensing. It is covered under something called the "Compulsory Mechanical License" if you want to look into it further.
Paying the proper licensing is part of the process of seeking permission before you use someone’s original song
Luxury stuff...don´t make me laugh !!! Suckers 😅
americans are so fucked up man.
My opinion on this Is if it’s something basic that anyone could think of then no credit is due like gluing flowers on your mirror very simple concept that anyone could think but if it’s something unique and without a doubt made by someone then credit is due example the demure trend some girl was made bc jools didn’t give her credit girl you don’t own the word demure you didn’t invent it either so no credit is due lol
someone tried to claim the word demure? wow, haven't heard of that
@@Itsbabygirlt not the word more so the trend they said they started it but used it in a completely different way than jools
