HOW TO BUY A GUITAR (FOR SOMEONE ELSE POSSIBLY)
I agree ! A few years ago I walked into a music store to see someone, the person said , I am busy but play this while you wait. He handed me The A3R and I sat and played it and waited. By the time he came back I was ready to buy the guitar. Mine has a deep sound and everyone who play's it , loves it. You are right !
Sold my IC400 the other day (the exact model Malakian had) and today, I ordered this one! An Iceman for an Iceman!
The problem you have is the ACR5 made in Japan is only $1600.00 in the US.
Excellent video! I am RIGHT THERE WITH YOU on every point. I have an A3R and an LL16D. I couldn't be happier with them. I feel like I robbed the bank and bought a ticket to heaven. Yamaha guitars are a godsend.
You're absolutely right. 👍
I had a terrible apx 12 string that had a big hump on the top to bridge area after 5 years and it scares me but tempted to gey one of these to be honest
Okay brother I have the arctic white maple fretboard one. I’ve gotten a lot of use out of. It was kind of my first axe. It’s in great condition but we may need to talk if you are seriously looking for one
I play a DuoSonic, and I agree.
I have a Chapman ML3 Pro Modern in like a dark paduak stain! That guitar look amazing
I agree I have a Yamaha fgx720sc and love it looking at new ones thanks for the video
@@MichaelMoore-od4jz there’s always space for one more guitar 👌
I have a Yamaha ll16, made in China. Love it. It’s the loudest guitar in my bluegrass group. High quality for just over $900
@@larrycoats295 sounds like a great guitar !
I am a guitar newbie in Korea. I needed some information about that guitar, so I searched TH-cam and came across your video. So, thanks to that, I purchased this guitar relatively cheaply through Japan, a nearby country. I also compared it to several guitars, but I liked the KRYS10 model with Pickguard more, and the pickup seemed to sound better to me. Even though I went to the store to see this guitar in person, I was initially concerned that it was the signature model of a certain famous musician, so I couldn't decide to buy it. There seems to be relatively little information about this guitar on various TH-cam channels. Even though it is the signature guitar of Polypia, currently the most famous team! Then I came across your video and as a result I decided to buy this guitar. I really appreciate the way you change the pickup switches to make them sound. Thank you for making good videos every time. Please continue to show us a lot of good videos. (I'm sorry my English is so bad. ㅠㅠ)
I’m so happy I could help! And don’t worry, your English is fine 👌 Much better than my nonexistent Korean!
2:38 about the bridge: is a old style from 60's (danelectro and Silverstone)
@@brunorabelo4 thanks for sharing!Since making this video I have seen similar ones on some music man basses as well
Mine had tinny microphonic pickups that were super annoying. Changed them out and it sounds so much better. And think the problem was they weren’t wax potted? They picked up voices and sounds so easily which imo wasn’t good.
I gotta admit I'd be tempted to just keep the weird pickups for recording special effects type weirdness, it sounds kinda cool! Maybe not so good for playing guitar though haha
I have a Schecter C6 Deluxe, plays good, I just ordered a Sonic Mustang, the shorter scale and the single coils seem like worth a try.
Short scale stuff is so underrated I reckon, it's so much fun!
Really interesting and helpful ! Thank you for sharing !
I do my best!
not the best sound today
I like it 🤷♂️
I have the red one Amazing guitar and I just got the blue floral Jem and is amazing also.
Those blue floral jems are sooo cool! One of my favourite looking guitars
@@richardclarkmoore plays just as good as my Japan Jem and it's been a month and I'm still in tune.
Is this good for playing stuff like “Mike daws” style? If not can you please recommend a good guitar in the 1000-2000 $ would really really appreciate it!! 😊
I’m sure it would do the trick! But the best thing to do is to get your hands on the guitars and try the techniques to see how it feels I reckon
He just did
Nice
Playing IS practice. And if you start noodling you'll usually go to something you're having problems with and run through it a few times. PS - Thinking of getting the AC3R because i want a small body guitar and it was searching out reviews that led me here (I have a dreadie already, the Epiphone Masterbilt an all solid repro of their 1930/40 model with a brilliant electronics system). But now I see Yamaha have released this 1960's series and the FSX3 is looking good. Have you tried them at all?
This showed up in my home stream. I have no idea why. Anyway, you clean tone would sound better if I was there in person. It always does. You stand in fron t of the amp and it’s like _oooooo….that tone…..😛_ But when it’s recorded and thrown up on TH-cam, it’s never quite the same. My best video was a short I made where I had an eggplant shaped like an emoji. Good luck. You deserve far more success than that Cheers from across the Tasman
@@MidlifeRenaissanceMan algorithm has chosen to connect us! But yeah you lose a lot in the video making process, especially with cleans. I hope the eggplant was delicious haha
The eggplant: It was pretty good. Not as nice as your clean tone….or mine for that matter. Baked with some olive oil, lemon from a lemon, a sprinkle of 2,000,000 old Himalayan salt (with a use by Sept 2022) and some green herbs from a packet that said “Greek herbs” Went with a slow roasted lamb shoulder, and other roasted vegetables 😊 It’s funny. I like my cleans slightly dirty and most of my favourite dirty tones are quite clean. When I impersonate a guitarist, I use a modified Marshall 8080 Valvestate and drive the line out from that into a Silverface Fender Bassman 100 on a Garry Nessel quad. Run the two Marshall stacked on top. When I play it, it fills the room with _tone._ Tone that embraces you, hold you close (no homo) and makes you feel all warm and secure and loved….like the start of a bottle of triple distilled whiskey….not the end of the bottle, when the police are called….just the start Haven’t found the ideal way to record it….yet. I’ll have to soon It’s funny how you can dial up a sound and it’s lush, and full, and tickles all the right dopamine reputable inhibitors, and, when you lay it down with the rest of the instruments it’s mushy and _meh_ But that is the secret we all strive for. A purpose in life we can use to stave off atrophy. Cheat death. 😊
Is it a signature guitar if you change pickups? Nope, no longer the same. Most signatures are just versions of the model already existing. Silver Sky is just John Mayer's strat made by PRS, if you change pickups and pots, well, it no longer is, it is your version of PRS strat (just an example). That would be my point of view, I might be wrong.
@@Lordofmrak nah I get ya, probably still looks the same though, so people might still think you’re a John Mayer superfan if you play a silver sky 🤷♂️
@@richardclarkmoore Only other guitar players (not all of them), nobody else would know. And I thought it was an internal feeling of not being "my own guitar", if we include what others think, well, that is another thing. I was actually thinking of buying SIlver Sky SE and putting Fralins to change the sound to my liking, I do not like Mayer, but I do like PRS quality compared to Fender.
Sounds great!
Thanks dude!
hey man, isnt it about the music? is that working for you?
I mean I do love music, but I guess this channel isn’t really about music, it’s about guitars 🤷♂️
Tim just got burned 🔥🔥🔥 lol
And he'll never even know... how sad hahaha
Found your channel when I was trying to find RGIXL7's reviews and I really glad i did. I don't know what's other people's problems, but I found here all the necessary information. Also, it's always great to see that metal fan also could play something except riffs. Thank you, Richard
I like all the guitar music, but nothing else quite scratches the itch of a chunky downtuned riff does it? You're more than welcome dude, thanks for being along for the ride :)
Your videos are thoughtfully presented and you clearly enjoy what you're doing which counts for a lot. Basically, I enjoy watching them which is why I'm here.
Thanks Simon, I appreciate it! :)
Could of adjusted the tone of the vocal mate
Always one hater haha
As for signature guitars, I own a Dean Dave Mustaine VMNT and an Ibanez OMR1. They way I figure, those players have forgotten more guitar than I will ever know, so they also probably know what kind of guitar plays metal best as well.
Les Paul is not a signature guitar. It is an endorsed guitar. The Les Paul existed a year before Les Paul the player every laid hands on one.
I kinda wanna see the kitty kat.
What's the name of the song you played in the intro at around 0:20?
I just improvise all the riffs, saves me from getting hit with copyright ;)
No one ignored it.
I dunno I think a few people ignored it haha
Replace the top pickup with a hot rail and the bottom with a P90 and you're set, looks cool either way though.
Play clean…distorted tells us nothing
Your tone is too distorted to tell what the guitar sounds like
Probably is, that’s the beauty of making a video in a hurry. Sure is getting me some comments though 😉
What happened to your ears? Good vid, tho.
I made em bigger! Haha cheers mate 👌
I'm sure someone makes a copy of that pickguard. Just get that, then load it up to taste then install it on the Strat body of your liking.
Axesrus make one, they call it the “Juan mod”. Originally done by Robbie Robertson
Good to know, that would be a fun mod to do!
Looks like a great guitar! Lots of good Squires coming out, making Fenders look overpriced.
Yeah Man, this one’s a couple years old, but I do love the variety!
You really need to reevaluate your gain structure, between that and TH-cam’s compression, all I’m hearing is a sonic mess.
I reckon more gain next time eh 👌
Yup I ignored it.. at $500.00+ I'm still going to Ignore it. Just too many better deals for similar guitars.
Fair enough, this one definitely isn’t for everyone!
Well it depends, any guitar even if it is a signature guitar will work for your way of fell and play your own music…I love signature gear…it has some magic
The magic is the defining factor, I'll give you that! Some guitars are just perfect
There are a thousand such fake Strats.
I'd say that's quite a low estimate
I like Ibanez's necks because they are thin. Its what makes them special to me.
This one probably ain't for you then mate!
Left hand players miss out Disgraceful that Yamaha don't care re L/hand high end guitar selection. They make great guitars -been playing an FG1200 since 1978 - Incredible sound. The bridge converted to left hand, replaced 2013 - frets replaced twice
I really feel for ya'll leftys eh, its rough out there <3
the graphite nut is such a wasted feature considering this is a hardtail version. yeah, I know that in production they probably just have the necks for this series in a heap and just attach it to whatever body
Wasted feature or nice attention to detail? It’s just one less thing to upgrade for someone who really likes the guitar I reckon
@@richardclarkmoore My point is that a graphite/graphtech style nut is really only useful when using a tremolo (and even then it is not NECESSARY). With a stop tail it does not provide any better or worse tuning stability compared to a plastic nut.
@riffsnoleads you may be right, but if it’s one less thing to worry about, I still think it’s good! Upgraded components that make you feel better about the guitar are worthwhile 😌
Didn't Robbie Robertson do something like this decades ago?
I’m just now learning that yes he did!
Unfortunately the two I tried at the store the pickups were messed up and the frets were brutal
And every one will call you Robbie Robertson
Yeah, what is it with the frets??? They're so chonky that it makes you fret the notes sharp if you apply any pressure to the strings
@Joe-ri7bi not used to jumbo frets maybe? They stick out pretty far and it gives you more chances to wear them down and get them dressed again
100% agree and they have routes that allow for a lot of configurations day one
We love to mod guitars here, so nice when companies make it easy to do so eh?
@@richardclarkmoore Indeed. DS really is optimal especially for someone who isn’t a fender diehard
