Huh. Even if it's crap, I learned something today. The real aircraft is actually a Siebel (of Siebel 204 fame) design. It looks kind of like a license-built Piaggio 149 which I thought it was initially..

I just finished making the Airfix B.XVI version in 1:72 and loved it. This PR version is on my list of must-do aircraft, along with the Tamiya 1:48 Pr Mk.IV (and maybe the bomber variant if I can find space for it). However, next up on the build schedule is my other favourite WWII aircraft - a Beaufighter TF Mk X. I spent 5 years at RAF North Coates in the 80s and knew that Beaufighter operated out of there in the war, but only after the station closed down in 1990 did I learn about the North Coates Strike Wing and their attacks on coastal shipping off Norway.

I gave up building kits as its so expensive now and im too old to turn tricks at the truck stop to afford a shittu Revel kit even

I bought not one, but two of these in 2023, and did not have the excuse of being a little inebriated. Both of them where donated to the oxfam shop in Dublin late in 2024. So apologies to anyone who bought one.

That is what you get for very little money. Reminds me of people complaining about re-popped AMT kits originally from the 60s.

Not much to say really! It's not good, but as you say, with a little care and attention, a nice paint job and a lot of patience!, it should, or could be, reasonably OK. Probably not another kit of that aircraft about, so what can you do? 5 or 6 quid? 🙈🤣 Entertaining video anyway mate, good job! 👍 😁

OUCH! I've just watched Matt from Model Minutes unbox a Mistercr@p Dewoitine 520. IIRC his worst kit of last year was a PM Model Spitfire.. almost replaced the P with an H then *LOL* Now I see more punishment for my eyeballs :) I'm assuming the product code is so the unwary can avoid it :) 'Add weight'.. no indication how much though, a microgram, milligram, gram, kilogram? 'This is not something you should build if you've never built a kit before..' No it's something you shouldn't even BUY no matter what your skill level! :) 'This is not the kit you are looking for.. you should go away and re-evaluate your life if you bought it'.. Obi-Wan Can-opy :) There's more Flash than a bloke called Gordon in a camp 1980s sci-fi comedy film :)

Never built a KP kit, but they do tend to do some interesting and rare aircraft that other manufacturers don't cover, so if you fancy something different, worth a punt. Looks ok, bit of flash but short run so no real surprise. Not a deal breaker, modelling should be a combination of problem solving, skill, luck and most importantly, fun! Nice recovery Lee! 👍 Beautifully finished model, cheap and cheerful (apart from the quality issue!) and great practice , knowing that if you make a boo- boo , you haven't just wasted half a days pay! 😮 I built the 80's tooling as a kid with airfix and humbrol tinlets, and was one of my most favourite builds back then! Ive got the starter set in the stash so might take another look. Cheers Captain! 👊

Lovely little build here mate 👌 I think your reasoning is spot on for the finishing, and even if it wasn't, it's your model, your rules! 😊 I bought this kit myself just over a year ago for a mojo boost and bashed it together in an evening. It's a great kit of a frightening weapon, and for a tenner (i bought mine at hobbycraft too!) can't go wrong! Nice finish on this one, really enjoyed your vid. Thanks 😊👍

Hiya. Really enjoyed this build mate. You've made a lovely job of that paint scheme too! I totally agree with you on the subject of these easier/starter sets, they aren't just for beginners! Sometimes its just nice to throw a kit together and paint it up without too much stress! I've got the new starter set 109 on its own but haven't buikt it yet, but you have made want to crack on! Ordered it from Super-Hobby because I wanted something cheap to experiment with panel lines and washes. And dear lord I hate this build at every step of the way. The decals are shit, the plastic is hard as hell, stuff dont line up properly and never mind that my box came WITHOUT ANY INSTRUCTIONS.

Great result. In these days of people saying how they have the nicest 0.15mm H&S airbrush and use the currently de rigueur lacquer paint (I believe Outlaw is currently "the best", but it'll become "rubbish" when the next one arrives 🤷🏻‍♂️), you've achieved a lovely finish with water based acrylics and what looks like a 0.3mm Fengda. Well done. Nice mottling, especially it being 1/72. The overall look is very nice too mate.

I tried out the Dogfight Doubles with a 109 and a MK5B Spitfire. Might be starter set kits but they make great little models in my opinion.

Almost a yr the new starter sets/double sets haven’t arrived in My local shop in Australia well done Airfix. They managed to deliver the majority of the 2024 range but not these kits.

Really like the addition of the decals on the tail. Any recommendation where to pick them up from? I’m not a crank, honest. Just appreciate the historical accuracy.

I suppose they go for these European Bf109 theatre schemes as that theatre probably sells better than others. It's a pity because some of the Bf109 North African schemes are really simple for a beginner to paint.

Nice build, looks really good. My own is in the dark green and earth RAF camo of 1940. I must also say that the Gloster Gladiator is my favourite fighter of all time, never really been a Spitfire or Hurricane admirer like most people seem to be.
