I wouldn't be surprised if they painted on the stripes on the sample images as the letters slightly overlap them at the top. I'm currently building an ICM Spitfire and have to paint the stripes but I feel mich more comident doing that than I would using decals. This definitely seems like an afterthought, especially since they announced that specific Spitfire tooling as a standalone kit as well. They must have decided since ot was being molded anyway to just include it.
I would call that - Lazy Airfix. Couldn't be bothered to make an effort and just slapped them together at the last moment. Do like your airbrushing by the way, getting a bit good with it now. Nice.
i’ve just built the spitfire, first plane in many years to be made. and found it odd that the decal was to big and i had to cut out the camera lens port. mine was a lot darker then yours 😢 brush painted using AK pr blue.
PRU blue seems to be one of those colours that everyone has a unique take on. I've no idea which one is 'correct' but as this is the first time I've used the Hataka one, would suggest it's paler than I was expecting. I'm happy with it
I think the 1/72 aircraft are competitively priced, especially if buying them with a 10% discount on a lot of retailers. I usually buy snall aircraft, so staying around the £10 is fine for me. However, the 1/48th stuff seems much higher than similar aircraft from other brands so I haven't bothered buying them.
@VFCproductions again the club 10% discount only applies to the uk so another reason (1 of several reasons) for people outside the uk to NOT join the club.
Considering these were originaly retail releases that im sure could be found easily enough if you really wanted them why would you bother joining the club,especially if you live outside the u.k......what a joke
I think including D-Day anniversary kits for members was a good idea, but the end result proves that it was poorly executed. Definitely not worth going the club for in itself, but I was going to renew anyway
The idea was good....the execution was awful....due to the amount of cock ups they made with this i think the Airfix team were ALREADY in the pub and had a few when deciding to do what they did.@@VFCproductions

Airfix old crow mustang has this same issue. Seems any short run decals are just not tested. Like you say, its Friday.
