Covering cheap wood in plaster
Building this cabinet has been one of those projects that wanted to get done for a long time, but it wasn't all that exciting, so we kept postponing it. Until now, it's finally done! I really enjoy the process of making stuff look old. Especially making wood and metal look weathered and old.
The stain on the cabinet door turned out a little darker than I wanted. But I was really happy with the weathered wood texture we got with the wire brush on the drill, to give that rustic antique look we wanted. I was also surprised how close I could get to a hand forged look on the store bought hinges!
We'll probably repaint it in the near future, as well as adding a shelf and what ever seem to fit best in there when it comes to storage.
If you're curious, we'll probably post an update on Instagram whenever that's done!
Thanks a ton for watching!

Floating Stone Shelf Build
มุมมอง 6K2 ปีที่แล้ว
A floating shelf with hidden storage for all the TV accessories. We wanted this one in a stone imitation, so we used plaster to try and create a stone texture. We we're a little worried that it would look like fake stone, but we're really happy with how it turned out. The matte finish gave it just enough gloss to make even more convincing. The size of this floating shelf is 2 meters (6,5 feet) ...
Desk Lamp Makeover - Industrial Look
มุมมอง 2.7K2 ปีที่แล้ว
The goal was to make this table lamp look like something from a machinist workshop. Kind of the opposite of restoring it I guess. It's also worth noting that this is my first time using all these techniques so, do with that what you will. I wanted it to go along with the desk that we made, to make it look more Industrial, old and worn. I hope you enjoyed the video, feel free to ask me any quest...
Living room renovation (wabi sabi/rustic inspired)
มุมมอง 16K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Our living room didn't really fit with all the furniture that we've built so far, so we felt like it was about time to fix that. We decided to install new laminate flooring and to paint the walls in a style similar to a French wash or a Lime wash, which wasn't as easy as we thought! The overall vibe that we're going for is heavily inspired by rustic, wabi sabi interior design. Our next project ...
Building a 100 year old design (DIY Coffee Table)
มุมมอง 27K4 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video, we're building a coffee table inspired by antique furniture, a vintage African daybed to more specific. We used two 5,1-meter pine boards (45x220mm) for this project, which we then cut up into 3x 175 cm boards for the top and 12x 32 cm pieces for the legs. This was the cheapest and most convenient option for us, even though we didn’t need the full width for the tabletop. To achie...
Transform Shelving into a Rustic Cabinet
มุมมอง 4.6K4 ปีที่แล้ว
We built our own custom pine wood cabinet DIY style. We wanted it to look like an old vintage cabinet since we're going for a rustic interior in general. This is just one of many pieces of furniture we'll build on this channel with a DIY approach. We love woodworking and we're working on building most of our furniture ourselves, starting in the living room. Since this was our first time making ...
Effective Sound Absorbing Panels as Paintings (Easy DIY)
มุมมอง 14K4 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video we're building our own sound absorbing panels and turning them into paintings. We already have sound panels in the ceiling, but we needed more to reduce the reverb in the room. So we figured why not custom build sound panels that will go as paintings too? For the structure frame we used pine, and saw the pieces into 45-degree angles and glued them together to make a total of three...

Nothing like building a $50 table with $1000 worth of tools hahah
Pretty sure there’s something like that 🤔 Merry Christmas buddy 😁
You are now furniture carpenter o craftsman, the more you make furniture ,you become a seasoned master craftsman ❤❤❤
@@edgarbarraca2885 Thank you so much 🙏 I really enjoyed it! ❤️
12:27 no shit Sherlock 😂
F around and find out 🤷♂️😂
@ i know man, i know 😁. I also have those moments. But here i thought from the start "why not just burn it at first". Looks beautiful tho!
@@curlsalot91 yeah, I honestly completely forgot about it, but still wanted to give it a shot 😅 Thanks a lot mate, appreciate it!
Could I please get the last song name?
That would be: ”Sunny Day” by Yellen (Instrumental)
@@byferner Sorry, I'm having trouble finding it on TH-cam. Would it be possible to provide a link?
It’s from a music library called Audiio. Here’s a link: audiio.com/yellen/the-yellen/sunny-day-instrumental
8:20 my favorite part of the table i think it looks very nice at this stage
Sick! I actually don’t mind that either, especially if you’re looking for a really dark moody table. Thanks a lot for kind words and for watching 🙏❤️
love how you glued it together, in the living room and then used a belt sander ~ only to find out you realy used a plainer in a work shop - way to go misrepresenting
Not sure why you would think that, it’s really far from flat 😅 I’d be very disappointed if my table came out like this after using a planer. Thanks for watching though
Please tell length and breadth and height
It’s in the beginning of the video 😊 210 cm long and 83 cm wide. We installed it on adjustable legs, so the height is what ever you want it to be 😄
@byferner thank you very much sir
whats de color the wall?
If it’s the “indigo blue” wall you’re referring to, the color code is: S6010-R90B Hope it helps!
You should have hand planed the top then sanded it through the grits to your level of smoothness. You should have also used a random orbital sander.
Would love to use a planer if I had one. I did use a random orbital sander for the finishing grits though 😊
it's really cheap guys! you just need to have all these expensive tools.
Not at all, I borrowed pretty much all the tools in the video! 😄 I’m sure your friends and family have tools you can borrow as well if you ask them 👍
This time I'll use woodprix instructions to make it by my hand :)
That turned out awesome.
Thank you so much! Glad you like it! 🙏
Вот именно! Так и надо было до тонировки сразу горелкой обжечь. Красивы стол получился!
Да, мне следовало сначала его сжечь, хаха. Большое спасибо!
I gotta admit, I was not liking it during the whole staining part, but then the final reveal I was nodding my head like, yeah, that's it. lol Well done.
Haha, understandably so! 😅 Thank you so much, glad you like the end result! 🙏
Nice !
Thank you!🙏
great project guys. its fun making something with a partner, makes the bond and respect for each other even more.
Thank you so much! I couldn’t agree more, both of us really enjoyed this project 🙏
How strong this table is really? Plank edges glued together with no connecting dowels, since it is quite heavy. I am just wondering. I missed the part where the legs were built. Legs are half of the work when you building a table in my humble opinion.
It’s pretty much just as strong as a table glued together with dowels. Dowels are mostly for alignment actually. I agree with you! But the reason I built this desk top was because I was gifted a pair of adjustable legs from a friend 😄
beautiful but is that gonna hold without dowel joints and just glue ?
Thanks! Yeah, just as strong. Dowels are mostly for alignment actually, the glue has all the strength you need and more 👍
You guys did an amazing job ~ you’ve got me thinking about my needed desk… :)
Thank you so much! That’s awesome, would love to see your project if you decide to for it 👏 let us know!
Beautiful 🎉
Thank you so much! 🙏
Never thought of going with pine planks and just gluing them. I believe you have just saved me some money and helpped my desk remodel become better. Thank you. =o)
What are the names of your audio speakers?
I think it’s Creative Pebble, if I remember correctly
jag alskar det!!!
Tack så mycket!!! 🙏😊
This is a really nice table, for my desk i hope to get a peice of scrap butcher block counter. That way i dont have to do too much actual work on the table top lol
Thank you! Yeah that would save you a lot of work, best of luck my friend! 🙏 Thanks for watching!
Love the video man❤
Thank you so much! Really glad you enjoyed it! 🙏❤️
You guys are great, proving a can-do attitude and good taste combined with the will to work is all it takes. Great job, much respect!
That means a lot, we really appreciate that, thank you so much! 🙏
It is a bit late in the day to post a comment, but your desktop turned out wonderfully. I have virtually the same project starting and I priced some exotic lumber for the job. Walnut and the like had a price tag of around $500, which would have shattered my budget. I will be using pine and copying your techniques. Thank you.
It’s never too late to comment 😊 I’m so glad to hear that this video inspired you! Feel free to ask anything if you run into any problems and let us know how it turns out! 🤩 Would love too hear and see your project 👏 Best of luck! 🙌
Very nice
Thank you! 🙏
Beautiful
Thank you so much! 🙏
Mach better if you call not "Cheap Wood" but "With cheap Tools".
Noted! Thanks for watching 🙏
amazing job, well done!
Thank you so much, glad you like it! 🙏
Definetly gave me inspiration for my coming office setup

Absolutely beautiful table. Thanks for sharing. Have a great day.👍👏
Thank you so so much! Glad you liked it! Thanks for the kind words! Have a good one! 🙏🙏
I've got spurs... that jingle jangle jingle
Is that right cowboy? 🤠
@@byfernerI think commenting this under your video was a mistake… I meant to comment that under a trailer for that new movie coming out, Mickey 17. In that trailer they use that song, “Ain’t That A Kick In The Head” which I’m familiar with through one of my favorite games Fallout New Vegas. Another song that’s almost synonymous with that game is “I’ve Got Spurs That Jingle Jangle Jingle” Anywho what I think happened is I must’ve been shown the Mickey 17 movie trailer in an ad segment during your desk video (great video btw I watched the whole thing it looks amazing!) and completely forgot the comments section was for your video and NOT the trailer for the movie! P.S. your response to my unsolicited, out-of-context song lyrics ABSOLUTELY KILLED ME 💀💀💀
Haha, that’s hilarious! Thanks a lot my friend, glad you enjoyed the video too! 🙏
Hi this is amazing what type of plaster do you use??
Thanks! It’s an all around “house repair plaster” that’s a bit stronger than regular wall plaster if that makes sense 😄

Im not sure what you mean by that 😄 but thanks for watching
@@byferner 😂 Brother you should have used thinner with wood stain or As soon as you apply the wood stain, wipe it off immediately with another cloth
@wizardsiras4347 there’s a lot of things I’ve should have done 😂 thanks for sharing your thoughts tho!
@@byferner hahah😂 we sand like from 80 grit to 2000 minimum here
@wizardsiras4347 that takes some patience 😬🙏 It won’t take much stain at 2000 grit though, keep that in mind! I wouldn’t sand past 220 grit if you wanna apply wood stain
How tall did this desk end up being?
210 centimeters 😊
Wow, dream computer table
Thank you so much! Glad you like it! 🙏
why you guest left the channel? or do you have any other?
No one have left 😁
@@byferner hahah okay then.. thanks subscribed to u.. good luck
Thank you! 🙏
What do you think of shorter planks going in the direction of depth rather than length? Some barn doors are built like this in two layers. Length wise is fine but could warp if stored in a humid environment?
Yeah for sure! I think you’d need some kind of reinforcement, like you said in two layers. Otherwise I think the table would lose a lot of strength and integrity. But honestly I’m no expert at all 😄 just my guess! But I’m sure it would look cool, definitely! I would also assume that you’d have less warping if you had two layers in opposite directions, but again I’m no expert! 😄 I’m just a newbie experimenting myself!
nice ❤
Thank you! Glad you like it! 🙏
Perfect! ❤❤❤
Thank you so much! ❤️🙏
what kind of glue did you use?
Just regular wood glue! 👍
It turned out very nice. I love the depth of color on it. Been watching many how to videos on desk tops but by far this is the best one I have seen. I have a small pile of "cheap" lumber that I want to utilize and make a computer desk out of. Will be using a number of the techniques you shown. Thanks for posting.
Thank you so much! That’s so nice of you to say 🙏 That’s awesome! Would love to see how it turns out. Don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions during your project. Best of luck!
@@byferner Will do. I'm sure I'll have a question or two once I get rolling on it.
I think this turned out fantastic. You guys did great work. Congrats.
Thank you so much! So glad to hear you like it! 🙏❤️
How well did the sound panels work to reduce echo in your room?
Just these 3 alone isn’t gonna be a huge difference unfortunately. But it adds up for sure. A great alternative if you like the aesthetic 👍 Always gonna be more effective than “regular” framed posters or wall art.
Does it have legs?
It does, in this case I was given a pair of adjustable legs from a friend of mine’s old job. And that sparked the whole project basically. Should have mentioned that in the video. Thanks for watching 🙏
