You'll need to access the cleaning program, to do this you'll need to: Press the button "menu/ok" for at least 2 seconds, so that the display in the menu changes. Choose the point "maintenance". Now you can choose between the various program's for descaling or cleaning. Click 'Cleaning' there should be a menu enabling you to control the cleaning cycle.

Leave the Portafilter in, then put the disc and the tablet. Also descaling with the water filter is crap. You destroy the filter and it will taste of descaler. Take it out, then descale. Another small complaint. For a large coffee, you can't grind enough coffee automatically as it will over-fill the hopper. So you have to grind part, tamp it down and manually grind more. Not a big deal. The pre-set frothing of the milk I've found, means that the temperature can't be set higher than 75 degrees. I believe this is to make sure you don't loose the froth when the temperature reaches near boiling point. You can increase the froth by just starting it again manually and stopping it again before it gets too hot.

This is common issue, if you don’t power off machine or turn on in the right order it locks the machine in place. The thing is, when I turn the machine off and then turn it on later on, the touchscreen signals the grinder is at 14. Does it do that automatically or is it some kind of mistake? We bought one of these recently. Very impressed with the performance. But I've one major criticism. The size of the bean hopper. If it's completely empty it will just about take a 227grm packet of beans, but you have to smooth them down to clear the central locking tool or the lid won't go on. It's easy for beans to spill over the lip. It would have been better to have a slightly bigger capacity, so you wouldn't have to fill it half way through grinding coffee.

    • @aaaaplay

Like with most coffee machines, it kind or relies on you experimenting. The setting will depending on the beans you have. The Barista Touch has a built in tutorial to help with grind settings. It suggests you should aim for the coffee to begin dripping between 8-15 seconds, if it takes longer then make the setting courser, if takes less try making it finer. Aim for as fine as you can go within that 8-15 second window.
