Welcome back folks! Today we're discussing the alarming situation down in Los Angeles, where multiple firestorms are raging, and the city is dealing with a growing water shortage amidst the firefighting efforts. It is not a shortage of water but a major water distribution problem and local storage issue. In this case, Lake Mead and the water from the Owens Valley has little to do with it. But MAGA beard dudes trying to $$$$$$ on TH-cam always have the wrong info. In other words, the lack of water at the hydrants in Pacific Palisades had to do with one water storage facility empty for repairs; the the tanks on the hillsides insufficient for this situation (they could use more) and so many fire fighters using the water at the same time and not to forget that the homes that burned down, the water was running out at the mains when the supply pipes were severed at the destruction of the homes.

    The Los Angeles area gets water from three main sources, not just two. There is also a large water import from Northern California via the California Aqueduct along the Central Valley.

    Regarding NO water, every house that is on fire now has an open water main poring water into the house. Be the main PEX or copper the joints melt that is the reason there is no water at the fire hydrant. Yes the supply is being strained but the BS on some reporting is miss information. This needs to be called out. It is sad the American people just can't think for themselves. This video is not helping with the misinformation.

    Keep in mind water shortage is only present in some neighborhoods. Typically these areas were not designed for an unlimited amount of water. You need to look at the water delivery system in just that neighborhood. Nothing tondomeith Colorado River or California aqueduct.

    Way to use a travesty to falsely promote your cause. There is plenty of water in the reservoirs. The system was not designed to deliver that much water, especially at elevation.

    The corporations are loving all the signals the American people are sending tthem on this one. "Just go right ahead and turn the earth into a toxic waste dump Mr. Corporations, we wont demand any accountability from you, this wil provide us with another opportunity to do our enviromental virtue signaling and prove just how earth friendly libertarded we are". Just imagine, people are going to pay to live on a toxic waste dump that they are also paying to clean up. These people love the Kool Aid.

    People knowing me ... wonder why in early 1980s, in association with then Los Angeles Chief of Police Darryl Gates, I mentioned the use of all of the people's pool water supplies as a fire resource for their pumper trucks, as nearly every house in the area had their own supply of water, that could be emergency used to put out any fire in the block. Or that I have mentioned with stern fortitude for this Democratic Socialist Republic of Californication build mega-desalination plants up/down the coastline and have unlimited freshwater from seawater. 1 cubic mile of seawater is trillions ... TRILLIONS ... of gallons of freshwater. California needs to get off the Colorado River Water Pact and being responsible for their own unlimited water supply from the ocean, not draining the mountain Walker Lake, Mono Lake, Mammoth Lake, Lake Tahoe, Owens Lake ... and the Sacramento, San Juaquin, and Colorado rivers. Such desalination, reverse osmosis water can be stored in all of the many water reservoirs, as well as irrigate the north-central Central Valley and south Coachella Valley valley (and Salton Sea). Connecting these plants together, one can then divert and pump water to any location. Of 7 plants - 1 in northern California, 2 in greater SanFran Bay, 1 in central Santa Cruz, 2 in Los Angeles, and 1 in San Diego, all of these could supply the entire needs of the State, give back the Colorado River water to Colorado, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico AND Mexico. Allow the aqueduct waters of the Sacramento and San Juaquin to be pumped back up into the mountain lakes and restore their pristine water supply to wild life, fish, and water fowl. Put the water back to where it is most needed. No more STOOPID flushing out water, draining the region dry for the delta smelt and destroying the agriculture of the Central Valley farmers. Put the Sacramento and San Juaquin river flow out of SanFran Bay into the underground aquifers of the Central Valley and stop the subsidence issues of the land from lowering down the underground water supplies.

    3 million gallons held in reserve tanks up in the Hills that lasted 6 hours. They cut power because the winds blew branches into power lines making more fires and endangered ground crews. The wind went through the houses as they were burning turning each of them into essentially a rocket engine. That heat just Barrel the cross the street into the next house and so on Dry skirts from palm trees and Eucalyptus immediately erupted like fireworks throwing millions of Brads into the air. Even with those reserved tanks up in the hills, there was no chance that the infrastructure could possibly deliver enough water to put those fires out. Restoring those reserves takes a long time because pumping water uphill is not easy.

      I think you might want to take the cover story about hydrants running dry with a grain of salt. The mayor was out of town, hydrants are dry, migrants starting fires in tents, all cover stories but no actual facts on what started the fires. These are not natural/normal fires. Cars are burned to a crisp but foliage is untouched. Just like a hurricane coming out of the gulf and turning west for the first time in history to impact Tennessee and western North Carolina. Unheard of. I’m just saying there is more here than meets the eye.

      Thanks for checking out the video! Since this first hike, we found a route to the hot springs from above that doesn't require the 200+ ft. rappel shown at the end here. It is a backcountry route though and not any established trails. If you are just visiting however, I would suggest a raft/kayak tour outfit from below the Hoover Dam. It is much easier to access the hot springs specifically from below as it's just off the river. You would be able to see several different hot springs from a river tour. Happy trails! 👍

    Under low-light conditions grabbing every photon becomes important, and equipment becomes more critical. A wide aperture (f1.2) to let in more light and more time to allow more light (slow shutter speed) and a sufficiently sensitive sensor screen would make a difference. With still pictures the shutter can be kept open for longer periods, but in videos that would blur the motion.

    • @mojo.adventures
      @mojo.adventures 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Good info, thanks again! I have some control over the aperture & shutter speed I will have to play around with it more. I tried fixing shutter at 30 and it was too blurry with movement. Auto settings work great during the day but night video is a whole different animal!

    As of yesterday's measurements, the Upper Basin is at 38% of Avg. snowpack YTD for April 4th. So essentially we have 4 months and 5 days to make up 62% or better. It's slightly off average YTD at 94.66%, but a good snow can balance that fairly easily still. It'd be awesome if we could get the Basin wide number to 100% with a month to go. We manage that, bye bye Skyward! 😅😅

    • @mojo.adventures
      @mojo.adventures 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Interesting thanks for the comment I haven't checked those numbers lately. I agree with you we'll need a stellar snowpack to make up the difference. Still plenty of time for winter to kick up, especially if the last few years have been any indicator. I don't think we'll see much "action" this year down at Lake Mead but that is purely speculation. Happy New Years!

      That would be a nice cruise for sure, those little trails are fun 👍 That's the way to go since they closed the access now. I headed down on bicycle & it's a long rough ride 🤣 Next time I'm hoping to take an eBike instead. As always I appreciate your support on the channel!

    Unfortunately predicting we will see 2022 Skyward in late summer 2025. Also predicting you guys will be very busy in 2025 due to lack of rain. Rest up we need your reporting. Thanks for all you do.

      Thanks for checking in! I think you're right 👍The USBR had their "worst case scenario" near the 2022 lows. I don't think I'll be walking around Skyward in 2025 (at least hope not!) Lots planned for the channel, we'll be ready for 2025 👊 Happy New Years!

    A very relatable, EZ to compare method. Thanks again. My hope is that the Canadian blast that’s creeping down to the Northern Rockies deposits a generous dose of snow in the next couple weeks. Any possibility of this, or is this scenario unlikely?

      Thanks for watching! I just caught wind of that polar vortex that is supposed to dip down to start the new year. Looks like we'll stay warm & dry down here, but definitely hoping for what you describe up in the mountains! After the last few years I'd say just about anything is possible in the basin! Happy New Years 🎉

    Thank you for this video! Yes, that boat is a better yardstick to the lake water levels than a wide vista of the shoreline. Thanks for the update.

      You bet! Thanks for watching the update👍 That bay specifically seems to be the exact right elevation range for comparisons!

    This is brilliant!!! I’m really impressed. The power of the images really strike home. As they say, a picture is worth 1000 words. Hard to argue with what you have shown here. Now to the question of future water levels, who really knows? Lots of hope, but the true underlying of nature would suggest cycles of drought and hope for rain and snow. I don’t know if that is the best science for the 40 million people who rely on water from the Colorado. We will see how all this shakes out by 2026. Thank you big time❤

      Thank you Martina! Appreciate your support through all the lake updates and GG articles👍 My personal opinion... I think 2026 will be a lackluster year also and that reservoirs won't see any wild swings. Most of the river basin is seemingly satisfied with the cuts & regulation in place leading up to 2026. No one wants to step out of line or cause a ruckus this close to the finish line. If Mead or Powell had another bad drop this year it certainly wouldn't look good for any of the river users & USBR going into negotiations. Of course, weather patterns are going to have the final say. I keep hearing "La Niña" pop up over & over. Around the Mojave here I'm told that would mean a warmer drier winter. Not the best outlook for Mead. I guess we'll see! Happy New Year! 🥳
