    *Welcome back RIVER WATCHERS!* Hope everyone had a great summer 🤠 Just popping in to drop a long-overdue update, then it’s back to focus on some life issues going on at the moment. Soon to head back out into the desert as the weather cools… *BUT SIT TIGHT MOJO CREW!* We aren't really going anywhere. Just working on a lot of new ventures and making connections and grow the channel. You know what they say... don't quit your day job! I am thinking of trying some *quick water updates* without all the news stories so I can get more reports out. *Comment below* and let us know if you would like short (3-5 minute) water level updates OR if you like the long format better with news stories (even if they don’t get released as often), I have some important decisions to make soon!
    Thank you for being patient during this time. As always, we appreciate all of your support and helping us grow! Every watch, like, comment, and video share helps more than you realize.
    If you are into southwest art & feel compelled to support us further, keep an eye on the *Mojo Earthworks* for new designs, one-off metal art and jewelry! 👉 mojoearthworks.etsy.com

      Right on, thank you for the kind words! You sort of get acclimated after spending so much time out there I suppose. And you nailed it... staying hydrated nothing but water & electrolytes from before dawn until after sundown🤠 Lots of folks getting themselves in trouble drinking too much on the lake out in this heat!

      A looooong summer I think it just ended today actually 😂 Just been brutally hot and miserable down there. Not much going on with the water levels lately either it's been pretty stagnant. Hoping to get out another update this coming month. Thank you for watching and supporting the channel as always 👍

      For sure, it was really nice to just get away from the crazy heat! As a bonus we found some very interesting places around Nevada. Always appreciate the support and stopping by to comment👍

      Awesome, thank you for the continued support and comments! We've been on the road a lot lately setting up projects off TH-cam. Some big life changes happened also. The channel will always be around though! Going to try and push out another Lake Update in November but we will most likely be focusing on adventure/history for a bit as the lake has quieted down and is remaining stagnant with not much going on lately. Hope you have a good fall!

    Your companion took good care of you while you were on the leash. Great videography.
    Let's hope for pleasant climate conditions. They say that in a billion years the sun will get so hot that the oceans will boil away and the planet will be a cinder. We split from the chimps just six million years ago, so there is no telling where we're headed.

      Excellent, thank you for checking out another update👍 Yes Bella is essentially the navigation of the trip. She determines what's interesting, when it's time to stop and eat, and most importantly... when it's siesta time in the middle of the day!
      I am definitely hoping for pleasant conditions after this summer heat! Otherwise it may be time to leave southern Nevada and head for higher elevation until then. The way I see it we have a 50/50 shot of either going into another ice age or the oceans boiling like you describe. I think that's why all the rich folks are going to space unlike us peons heading for the hills! 🤠

    records recorded at an airport are always going to be 5-10 degrees above actual temps reported from correctly placed stations.

      I believe that! The city has created quite a bad "heat island" effect in that area of Paradise and it only gets worse as they develop outwards more and more with less green spaces.

    Awesome video and info as always... I know this is a simplistic observation just release more water from Lake Powell toward Lake Mead. Prioritizing one over the other doesn't make sense when Powell made decent water level gains this summer.

    • @mojo.adventures
      @mojo.adventures  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for checking out the update! It seems so easy doesn't it? 🤠 If there was a proper low level bypass in Glen Canyon Dam I think the USBR could draw down Powell with less worries. I did just see the pipe re-lining operation started there. Maybe in the future there will be more "wiggle room" to balance the levels again.

    Hi from Baja!
    I’m starting up my Water Watch series again. Eyes on what the US gov is doing heading in 2026, which will need to be done before your
    Elections.
    Boy your heat report is brutal‼️
    I’ll be checking in. I’m giving your channel press. 😎

      Ha! I finally have the missing links now- help swinging the camera and a wireless mic! Getting a little better at this TH-cam stuff I'd hope🤠 Yes, the heat has been BAD this year! Even for someone like me who works outside all day and isn't normally bothered much by it. I am wondering if it's the pendulum swinging back from those couple nice winters, or something bigger? Glad that even with the extreme heat the USBR isn't predicating really bad levels again at Mead (at least through 2026!)
      Yes, and it looks like after the drought payouts and water cut agreements we are on cruise control for a while. Just like every other important issue it gets put on hold during our election cycles. I'd like to see some future solutions being talked about now. Not yesterdays fixes. We need new energy solutions foremost as that is directly related to water transmission, purification, and hydropower demand. On an unrelated note... I did just see they started the pipe re-lining at Glen Canyon Dam. So that should take care of the high flow release experiment issues from Lake Powell downstream. Maybe there IS hope for reviving Mead still, but none of those payouts or fixes we've seen fundamentally change the supply or demand issues at all.
      I'll be poking through your Water Watch work when it's available glad to hear your getting back into the groove. Thanks for watching as always!

    One thing I find destressing is, with the water levels so low, why can't something be organized to clean the trash boats and other junk off the park grounds? Instead, everyone just keeps videotaping the trash. As I live too far away to assist in such endeavors, I'll just have to keep watching.

    • @mojo.adventures
      @mojo.adventures  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's frustrating right!😤 That is one of our top viewer questions. The problem with the boat wrecks is they are considered "artifacts" of the park. Removal by anyone other than the NPS is illegal according to federal law. This also goes for even household trash older than circa 1970 like beer bottles. Don't forget that not everything that happens, happens ON CAMERA. We also happen to volunteer under the park's "Adopt-A-Spot" program. I invite you to check out this short video of ours & read the description if you are interested in learning more. Thank you for visiting & leaving a comment! 🤠
      WHY DOESN'T ANYONE CLEAN ALL THAT GARBAGE UP?!

    There should be more news on why you wear life jackets, what happens when you you go in the deep water, how cold it is & it makes you unable to move then you sink/ drown

    I don't appreciate talking to a 'site'...what is your name? Good information, especially the fact that Lake Mead is the deadliest park service. Amazing. Why? I live in Pasadena, CA., and have owned 5 boats for many years. I found that, after boating in numerous lakes and in the ocean, Lake Mead was and always will be our "favorite". We made Lake Mead our #1 lake in 1982 and planned our vacation plans to go there until 2010 when we sold our last boat (yes, the lake water levels were plenty when we haunted Lake Mead!). I am very sad to hear that there are that many deaths so far in just this year; seems unreal to me as we have never....and I mean never been threatened in any way on or around the Lake. I guess boating restrictions about preparedness and schooling must be exercised further and more stricter. I continue to believe in boating and Lake Mead and follow its fill partners from up north...Glen Canyon and Lake Powell. Sorry to blather, but boating, lakes, water conservation, etc. are one of my main followings...and, of course, your excellent channel,. Thanks for all your efforts and support! Much appreciated!

      @mojo.adventures  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Same question I asked when I learned those stats... why though? With all the crazy hikes at other parks (like Angels Landing or Half Dome) what's so dangerous about Lake Mead? Over the years though I've started to understand a bit why, and we have never owned a boat or rarely go on the water. It mostly boils down to the lake/weather being unpredictable and people being careless, inexperienced, or intoxicated. Unfortunately it gets the reputation of the Vegas party lake also. I found a good amount of incidents happen OFF the water too... DUI wrecks, driving off the road embankments at night, etc. There have been some "weird" occurrences too in there that we don't get much info about but that comes with it being such a large area of land that is very remote.
      I think the lake (or mainly the terrain that surrounds the entire lake) is beautiful, which is what kept drawing me back over the years. I can only imagine how many nice views you got out on the water boating all those years! I hear boaters talking about hitting this cove or that cove and I get a bit of FOMO not going to lie😂 The few times we went to Lake Powell / Glen Canyon we liked it much more than Mead, but keep in mind we do everything OFF the water. There is much better off-roading and camping around Lake Powell like Lone Rock Beach. Especially since NPS just closed Government Wash at Mead, that was a fun area to romp around. And No worries I enjoy blatherings! You can call me Mojo or Joey. Thank you for checking out another update!👍

      @@mojo.adventures Thanks Joey! And yes, the view via boat is spectacular. We stayed at Boulder Basin Campgrounds, until migrating to running water and a stove at the Lake Mead Resort Marina. And yes again, we would find private coves for full-day fun with skiing, tubing, and sun worshiping. One of the prettiest views on the lake was upriver to Echo Bay and/or Temple Bar...spellbound beauty with majestic cliffs on either side. STOP...you are going to make me want to buy another boat!?* lol...(PS, my daughter was 7 when she skied at Lake Mead. She also caught her first 2' stripper there! Ahhh great memories at Lake Mead!)
