I barely listened to anything in 2024 besides my k-pop / j-pop groups (I spent the year being depressed, anxious and studying for college-entrance exams), but this video really made me excited to listen to new things and check out new artists 😭, so I hope this feeling continues on. I lowkey feel icky about Tinashe because her fans are the most annoying I've ever seen (and that's crazy considering I'm a kpop fan) and a lot of them were attacking my kpop group nonstop just because they filmed a tiktok on a supermarket (and it was insane that they were criticizing kpop for ripping black artists, which is fair, but while being racist as fuck to them), but she totally deserved her year and her paperboyfriend award because SHE'S THAT GIRL... I'm obsessed with her more experimental songs and "Nasty" was definitely helping me to feel less of a burden to my mom and more like a hottie ✨️. Out of the artists present (besides Tinashe) Nilufe Yanya (idk if i'm spelling that right) is definitely the one that catched my attention the most, I need to listen to this album in full RIGHT AFTER THIS VIDEO i'm not feeling normal. And I'll hopefully check the others as well, it's so amazing that I live in the same world artists live 🥳

i disagree, i love the building parts in the songs you mentioned. They are still very memorable, at least in my opinion. But to each their own.

1. feeling so validated rn cause this is also how i feel and im kinda sick of listening to imaginal disk cause it feels like im trying super hard to make it stick and it only partly does. that being said i love watching tv 2. blue rev was such a bummer for me at first, and i loved antisocialites, but then something happened and i realized it is the best album of all time actually and molly rankin could sing me to my DEATH. the vocals on that album are insane 3. genuinely wanna be your mutual somewhere. i never feel like people relate to the mix of nerdy knowledge + f4gg0try that is how i consume and interpret music

and zero mention of this is how tomorrow moves or rise and fall of a midwest princess… sigh…

Honestly, I thought mercurial world was way better. The individual songs stand up on their own more effectively and there were loads more interesting textures that being said, the central concept of imaginal disk is so clear and strong that it really ought to be looked at as more than the sum of it's parts.

My interpretation of Hope is, genuinely, one of hope. "The enemy's invincible / I hope you let it go", to me, is essentially "yeah, the enemy won. they're going to do that sometimes. there will never be a day when all of your problems are solved, so let that dream go. take things one step at a time. don't cling onto your losses. don't wallow in your sorrow. get back up. we weren't supposed to win every fight"

Diamond Jubilee reminded me a lot about lenght and tracks to Voice Actor's first iteration of their debut album 'Sent From My Telephone', a really fun field recording with ambiental and slow smooth vocals from Noa Kurtzweil and the producers putting certain interesting samples together

I was shocked when Here in the Pitch won the go-to anxiety reliever because the way that album is structured has always left me uneasy. I do think it sounds comforting, but as the album progresses the song structure and lyrical syntax becomes stranger. Playwrights Horizons put up a show this year called Staff Meal that structurally reminds me of Here in the Pitch a lot. She's certainly not doing anything bonkers, but there's a paranoid undertone to this album. Life is ---> Glances has a retreating trajectory and then The Past Year launches us out of the hole Jessica leads us down. The structure sort of reminds me of OIL OF EVERY PEARL'S UN-INSIDES (lol I know these two albums are completely different). Just some thoughts I wanted to share! I enjoy your videos- great job! Thank you for praising C, XOXO!!! One of my favorites of the year. We will look back at that album with admiration in the same way we view Kylie's Impossible Princess (altho Kylie is wayyyyyy more beloved than Camila)
