    Great video! I wish I did a few things differently… I would’ve put cardboard down on the stationary panel so it doesn’t get scratched by the metal like mine did! (Common sense though.) The track can be lubed after installation and cleaning/ lubing the panel should be done when removed like he had mentioned.! 4’ ladder and a magnet definitely came in handy! Great video! Don’t be afraid to tackle it!

    Great video! Would it matter if the sway bar links were torqued to spec while the wheels are on the ground or should the suspension be at full extension while tightening the links to torque spec?

    • @3rdgenworkshop
      @3rdgenworkshop 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      For the swaybar the suspension doesn't need to be under load, but it won't hurt if you want to validate that the bolts haven't loosened and are still set at the proper torque specs. Anytime I deal with any part of the suspension or roll control systems I like to double check. For control arms and panhard bars, you will want to hit the bolts with the torque wrench under load.

When I dropped it off monday the service writer said he wasnt sure if the esp will cover it, depends on problem...according to my ticket they replaced a guide and a shield, cost of right at 300..after reading all of these horror stories I feel very lucky...he also said he has seen many glass portions shatter on their on....

    All due respect, using an impact on those bolts eliminates the struggle of using the ratchet. Been using an impact for over 45 years never had a problem. If you've got a link available id like to reach out. Thanks for the Great vids.

      @3rdgenworkshop 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, I've used impacts on them. I've found that it will over torque, and while somethings that fine, other parts on the suspension it can cause wear in places you don't want. Thanks for the comments.

    i have a 94, it looks like exactly the same set up. I know much of the third gens were carried over. I was told GM originally planned on ending production in 97 so they did little to upgrade the 4th gen besides the lt1

    • @3rdgenworkshop
      @3rdgenworkshop ปีที่แล้ว

      Most things on the 4th gen 1993-2002 will bolt right up to the third. Swaybars are different, and the dash, but most mechanical stuff will swap right in. A lot of folks will pull the 4th gen rear differential, brakes and lines to convert to 4 wheel disc.

    With an LS1 on the tubular cross memeber do you still need to relocate the compressor?

    • @3rdgenworkshop
      @3rdgenworkshop ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't believe you need to relocate it. If you have a factory K-Member, you have to notch it, I believe you are OK on the tubular as it doesn't stick out. The guys at UMI can tell you for sure. However, I would still relocate it to the top passenger side as all the stock lines are designed to to there. Several places make a relocation bracket for cheap to do that. I'm planning on running my on the top once I drop the motor in.

    • @3rdgenworkshop

      If the BLISS light isn't working it could be several things. 1. Fuse, 2. Camera not aligned, 3. Camera foggy and it's not seeing the road, 4. Sensor in the tail light needs replaced, 5. Wire has come disconnected, 6 It's bad. Those are the things I would look at.

My roof is stuck in the closed position including the sunshade closes half way and stops. At this point the reset programing wont even budge the roof. The plastic guide rails that you have to slide it out of - can you order those? Looks like the slide in the very rear channel. I’m afraid I screwed mine up so bad I need a whole new sunroof

    • @Rynofasho
      @Rynofasho ปีที่แล้ว

      My difference is I couldn’t get it to the center position to do the repair. I think I’m going to have to cut the old arms off because I can’t get it anywhere near where I can get the pin to the hole to slide it out.

    • @3rdgenworkshop
      @3rdgenworkshop ปีที่แล้ว

      I ordered everything I needed from sunroof doctor. However, there are some parts that are OEM only. I believe on some models there is a back stop. If that broke, and the rails slid to far back, the only why to fix it is to remove the whole assembly. That is a much bigger job as the head liner has to come out, and you will need to people to remove and install a new one.

    • @Rynofasho
      @Rynofasho ปีที่แล้ว

    How can you manually close if it won't close all the way prior to repair? I ordered the parts, but the passenger side won't close all the way despite me pushing as I push the button to close. Just tarp it and wait and do the repair?

    • @3rdgenworkshop
      @3rdgenworkshop ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on where it broken. Several people will have one person push the button while a second moves the glass into position. You might have to remove broken sections of the track to free the space as something might be blocking it. Without seeing it, hard to give you better instructions. Placing a barrier like a tarp or plastic might be your only option if you can't clear the track of any damaged parts.

      @@3rdgenworkshop The plastic guide rails where the back end of it has the metal clip to hold up the drip channel - my tracks got stuck back and I eventually got them forward but I noticed the back of the rail (where it holds that clip) had come out of the track when it got stuck all the way back and now that it is forward, it's above the track. If I get everything cleared, do you know if it is possible to move the (empty) sunroof to the open position again and get that thing past the track and down so when I come forward, it goes back in the channel? I feel like I made it worse and I can't find those plastic parts on their own, I only see having to get a whole new frame and they all show as discontinued.

      Thanks for the comments. More video's coming very shortly. Here is the tool I used for this video. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07JKDCZV5/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I have a black 92 Z28 in another video that I just swapped the torque arm out on. Later this summer it that ride will be getting an LS2 bored over .30 with a stroker crank paired with an 4L70E that I just had rebuilt. Love the power an LS gives these cars.

    Nice work! How did you remove the spring compressor if the bolt hex was at the top? Having done this a few times, I've always gone through the bottom. I ended cutting the bolt on the spring compressor. I can't picture how you did it and I was waiting for it in the video, but it's edited out. Thanks.

      I just used a part of wrenches to loosing it until the control arm and the upper housing mount had the tension. Then the forks and clamps loosen. I remove them from the bolt, and then dropped the bolt out from the bottom of the control arm.

      @@3rdgenworkshop Great Thanks! I'm not sure if it would work with the original crossmember. I'll try it one day.

      It should. I did it on my 92 Z28. Factory K-Member with Detroit Speed Control arms. Worked fine.

    With only 2 wires that first light you tested would probably turn on if you reversed the wires to the battery.

    Just replaced one of these on a 2017, you dont need to remove the mirror, you can pry the corner of the plastic cap, the corner closest to the door and get it to pop off, then just the two phillips screws and you're golden.

      Yes true. I've seen people break them doing that. This way is a little safer.
