Miss u guys hope to see u soon
I watch all your videos and love the merc stuff. I have about 60 mercs lol. Ya I have issues lol but you get it 😂
Don't Yank on it so much pull start it! I've pulled started many boats over the years especially old Outboards that were just unfriendly at a old outboard gathering. You made the effort to save the engine clean up or restore the engine you might as well have somebody help you get it running so you can enjoy the engine! And when you put it in a video it's even better
What is the year and size of the black Mercury on the red boat at 3:30? It's perfectly trimmed. Video camera work A plus on recent videos with great close ups and flybys.
its a 350 35 hp 67 or a 68 the boat is Chriscraft kit boat
good video thanks 👍👍.....
Great meet with lots of good weather and wonderful old blue smoke! 😊
Great meet. And, some really good harmonizing entertainment! 😊
WOW! You guys are ready for prime time! Dockbuster thanks for sharing.
Nice run! I wish I could have been there with you to chicane those wakes... too! 😊
The twin 78a motors caught my eye❤😮
....but the 300 is the winner of the coolest looking outboard. Very sweet. Is that model called a Mark 30?
Those boats are more fun than any of those mega million dollar yachts
Inline six for the win. Great video.❤
Great show boys! Three Mercurys, all working well. That's a good day. It looks like it was a lot of fun.
That baby really goes!
Exquisite! I would love to drive all 3 of these. I once owned a classic Old Town 16 with a Mark 25, and then later with a Mark 30. With the 30, it would place 4 adults, in spite of its smooth bathtub hull shape. Was the bigger red and white boat a Mark 75?
Bug in teeth fun.
👍👍............
Did you make a video about the dual point six cylinder? Love to see how to time a Tower of Power with a Dial gauge. Thank you
those two strokes are thirsty, but they are smooth and relatively quiet if the intake is muffled , and power to weight ratios is good. too bad the emissions are high.
❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊😊
What year checkmate ? What horsepower?
1973 maybe 85 /xs lu
Nice. I have a 59 Whitehouse very similar to this
I love it! That 58 Mark 58 really flies on that aluminum boat, and its great to see that old 56 Mark 55 still going so very well on the Aristocraft!
Remember, a Mark 25 is a 20ish cid, 20 hp engine in 56 and 57.
I see why you like that boat so much. Very sweet looking boat. Went like crazy. That Merc was just singing.
👍👍..............
I have a merc 300 long shaft i would love to sell if anyone wants it go to my channel and email is in the description
My first "real" job was working at Burnham's in Lafayette. It was a sporting goods store and the guy that owned the place was super cheap so he always bought trailor kits and had us $3.35 an hour helpers put them together.
I had the exact same boat once but it had been sold by owens. I believe there was a company in Arkansas that was building the Hulls and selling them to other manufacturers to put their names on it. Mine had a 40 horse Evinrude with very noisy crank bearings!.
beautiful vollrath hardware on this boat!!
Nice outfit! How many hours went into building that baby? I had a chance to buy a Wolverine a few years ago but I passed. I kick myself every time I see a restored one like this one. The Professor did good!
Nice, I'm slowly trying to reconstruct a Peterborough laminated speed boat.
i want to know what the chase outboard was. Another good video guys with chase action shots.
Good looking boat and it rides really nice on the water.
In '74 at 16, I bought almost the same setup, but Chris Craft (original kit made). Traded boat and trailer for a wet suit, but kept the Merc 300 pull start. Later found one with electric start, but a parts motor until I know more. Couple years ago found a Mahogany 15 footer under cover at a garage sale. Had to replace the transom, which has turned into a mostly to total rebuild. I can't wait to feel it on plane again. Great video and inspiring reminder.
Sorry about that nice boat
Another great video. Too bad about the Old Town. I'm sure we will see it out on the water again.
I have a 55 like your motor. It has a face plate on the front. Don't see to many of those. Any idea why Mercury put the face plate on the Mark 5 that year? To bad about your boat. Good to see you made it back OK. Life jackets were optional? Thanks for sharing.
I think it was the start of model year changes for the industry
So sad and she was so nice before. The motor runs beautifully.
ouch!
My channel deals with the later bigger hp motors when mercury wanted to take the bigger is badder and when the climb to hp dominance was everything. Your right these were a pain to work on. But like most of mercurys stuff cutting-edge engineering was a thing for the times. I will never get why the first inlines were direct drive with a pull start. So many men overboard 😅
What's the gas mix ratio? I have an old Johnson that's 16:1 but I wonder if you could safely run a little less oil with the quality of these newer oils. Too scared to test out my theory though, haha.
I wouldn't risk it if I were you. I'm pretty sure those powerheads WERE NOT needle & roller bearings until much later. They were still using the sintered bronzed / brass babbit type. Even with today's more advanced oils... I wouldn't risk using less oil due to those babbit bearings. 😢
if its a plain bearing engine with plain bearings on the crank end of the connecting rods stick to the mix they need the oil to survive
Thank you so much for sharing really appreciate seeing the old girl slicing thru the water just a pleasure watching thanks again for your time it's appreciated keeping coming we will keep enjoying!
👍👍..........
No doggie?
He was chasing a bird
Thanks for the info. My 1940 K-4 has the (12) 1/8" square water intake holes. Did they change to the slits before the end of the year?
I have no idea most likely a running change
awesome!
Now that's what you call a proper craft.....
Sweet engine, thank you for the video
