You never hear people talk about how much it cost. But when you do hear people talk about the price of thru hiking, the AT for example, thousands of dollars. Usually about $1000 a month.

The reason you can see Atlanta from 70 miles away is because the Earth is flat. Not totally flat, but almost flat, i.e. flat-ish. It's definitely NOT a sphere with a circumference of 24,900 miles, because if that was true, you wouldn't be able to see past the horizon at about 8-9 miles. And before anyone says it’s because you’re high up on a mountain, you can also see Chicago across Lake Michigan from the exact same elevation on the western shoreline of Michigan. That’s about 70-80 miles as well, depending on where you’re standing. Earth is flat(ish). Deal with it.
