Wheelie Made It Crochet
Australia
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 20 ส.ค. 2021
I’m just a woman with wheels, a hook, and more yarn than I’ll ever possibly use!👩🏻🦼
I ❤️ crochet! I love to do it, teach it & design new patterns. I started a TH-cam channel in 2021 when leaving the house or meeting people in person was no longer an option for me. So I’m learning to make videos as I go and I hope you’ll find them useful.
You can also find me on Instagram @wheeliemadeitcrochet ( invitescontact/?i=i9q1ksf95woc&) - tag me #wheeliemadeit or #wheeliemadeitcrochet if you'd like to show me anything you've made and I can share it with my subscribers through the Community tab on my channel page, so everyone can admire your crochet 😊
If I don’t respond I may be unwell, there’s no way I’m ignoring you - I’m always so thrilled to see a crochet project made from one of my patterns.

Easy Squishy Crochet Scarf - what do you call this stitch???
Super straight sides, easy 2 row repeat, and lots of texture, my Triptych Scarf crochets up quickly and is so squishy and cosy. You can use your choice of yarn - both worsted weight and Australian 8 ply (DK yarn) work really well and I’d love to see it in a chunkier yarn to suit properly chilly weather.
This is a beginner friendly pattern with a few extra tips so that more adventurous or experienced crocheters will get the best results, while those who are newer to crochet can stick with a simpler approach.
If you’d like to show me your finished Triptych Scarf, find me on Instagram as wheeliemadeitcrochet
Hope your scarf turns out looking lovely, happy crocheting! 🧶💕

@wheeliemadeitcrochet is there a written pattern for this anywhere?
Hi. Is this length supposed to be worn over the head just once, or is it supposed to be wrapped twice around the neck?
Love the way you give so much detail thanks
Love it
❤love it
How would i go about adding a fabric back to it? Every time I crochet the fabric I got, it somehow ends up shorter but when I undo it all and lay it out, it's a perfect fit
Written pattern?
I need a pattern for gloves for a 7 year old boy. Having a hard time to find this pattern
It was a wondrful tutorial
thank you ❤
I actually just used this to cover an entire extention cord. Lol it took me about 5 hours 😅 It looks great though, and is a lot more fun than getting those cable covers that attach to the wall to hide it. Thanks for the tutorial!
@@ShoobieGirl wow that sounds like a marathon effort, amazing!! I’m so happy you found the video helpful, thanks so much ❤️
this turned out to be a left-handed glove for me! I loved crocheting this! Thank you! How do we make the right handed glove? How do we change the thumb placement? Thank you!
I think i just add the thumb insert at the end of the row instead of the beginning? (haha! you probably covered this in your tutorial and I just missed it, but this is what I'm thinking as I'm imagining it!)
@@princessrejoicing9097 haha yes I definitely show you how to do that in the video 😊 but you did figure it out well for yourself! The only difference between the left and right hands is in round 7. If your want to double check what you’ve done against the pattern, instead of rewatching the whole video to find the spot I talk about it (and hey, I love my video, but that sounds a bit much…) if you click of the bit under the video title that says ‘… more’ you’ll open up the description box. If you scroll down you’ll see I have created chapter links to different parts of the pattern and the very bottom one is “round 7 for the right hand” and that’s the bit you need. Good luck with the right hand! 😃 Wheelie
@@princessrejoicing9097 Oh gosh, I just realised I answered you twice 😆 I even remember thinking ‘that’s such a cute name’ BOTH TIMES I ANSWERED 🤣
@ thank you!🩷
I love the way you did this stocking. Thank you for the great tutorial.
@@MMCM1010 Thank you so much! ❤️ Wheelie
Found this video three years later! Going to try this! but i have a question... how many skeins of yarn to make the two gloves please?
Hi there, with the yarn I used it was 30 grams (85m/93yards). The exact amount you need will depend on how big your gloves end up being and your tensions etc, but if you have a 50 or 100g ball of yarn you’ll definitely have enough to make a pair. Cheers, Wheelie
@@wheeliemadeitcrochetthank you! so nice of you to take the time to answer! I really enjoyed making this one glove, which for me turned out to be for my left hand because of where the thumb insert is. So now I have one more question. Does the pattern change in order to make a glove for the right hand? Thank you!☺️
@@princessrejoicing9097 Hello again, you’re so welcome 😊 I’m really glad the left hand glove has turned out well! The pattern for the left and right hands is the same except for round 7 - if you rewatch the video to make the other hand, when you get to that point I tell you to jump to the end of the video ( the time stamp is 41:08 ). You might find it helpful to use the chapter links I’ve made - when the video isn’t in full screen mode, under the title of the video, on the same line where it shows how many views the video has, it says *‘…more’* Click on that to open the description box, and you’ll see the chapters. I made a chapter for each round in the pattern, so you can scroll along those to find where you’re up to in the pattern, instead of trying to manually skip through the video. So you can go right to the end of the video to do round 7 for the right hand and then back to round 8. Hope that’s helpful ❤️ Wheelie
I have made this particular pattern several times now and love it. I would like your instructions please on how to make the frilly border.
Hi Wanda, it’s really lovely to hear you’ve made this blanket a few times, thank you so much, you’ve no idea how much that has made my day ❤ I didn’t end up publishing a written version of the border pattern (partly because I’ve had some health problems get in the way, but also because I discovered there was a LOT more math involved than I’d expected, and I found it was easier to explain that side of it in a video). Here’s a link to the video tutorial, I hope the border turns out beautifully for you ( th-cam.com/video/4S4SlmbT4A8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=_o0dt29gwh1jHCDF ). Cheers, Wheelie
Brilliant tutorial ,thankyou
@@pamhenderson78 thanks so much! ❤️
This pattern is beautiful. I would love a written pattern.
@@RhondaWakefield-s4c thanks so much, I’m glad you like it 😊 unfortunately I’m not able to provide a written pattern, my health declined and I’ve had to take a break from pattern filming/writing. There is a video for the border pattern, so hopefully you’ll be able to follow that if you do decide to make it. Otherwise, if I do get to a point where I can return to writing designs, I’ll pop another reply on this comment to let you know the written pattern is up for free on ravelry. All the best, Wheelie
Hi! My border is turning out a bit tight instead of lacey. I am working it with the 4.5mm hook that I made the blanket with. Do I need to work the border in a larger hook size to make it have a lacey look?
@@rhondamain2396 that is unexpected, I’m really sorry to hear it’s not working out well. Also sorry this reply has taken a few days, I didn’t get a notification for some reason. I do have a couple of thoughts. Is it the section that’s created by chaining that is looking wrong? Or the ‘fan’ of the final round? If it’s the chain, are you chains very tight (look at the individual chains) or is it more that the length of crochet created by the chains isn’t the right length/not long enough? If each individual chain looks tight and small, yes, go up half a hook size and see. If it’s that the length created by the chains isn’t long enough, add an extra chain to each. Let me know how you go, I’ll keep an eye on this comment in case the notifications fail again - wishing you good luck! Wheelie
@@wheeliemadeitcrochet Hello!! Thanks for your reply! I went ahead and increased the chains to 5 on the sides and 7 on the corners and that did the trick!! I was concerned to change the hook size since the whole blanket had been done with a 4.5mm hook. I do crochet rather tight as I am used to working since size 10 cotton thread for filet projects. It is turning out beautifully and I am getting ready to do the final round. Thanks again!
@@rhondamain2396 I’m so pleased that’s helped 😅 Good luck with the final rounds ❤️
Is written pattern available anywhere, please?
@@jessicaswaim8712 Hi there, no, I’m sorry, I haven’t written up this pattern properly. When I made a few sheep last month I even had to rewatch this video because my own notes were so confusing 😜. All the best, Wheelie
@@wheeliemadeitcrochet Thanks for answering! I'll make do with your wonderful video. I plan to make some sheep for Christmas ornaments and/or for friends to add to Nativity sets. Thank you for the pattern and excellent video!
@@jessicaswaim8712 that sounds like such a great idea, love the thought of them in a nativity scene! I was thinking of making some with little Christmas scarves this year 🥰 I hope your sheep turn out beautifully ❤️
Thank you very much for this tutorial. Was just thinking about doing this the other day but didn’t know how, and then the algorithm puts your video in my path. I swear, I’m starting to feel rather sus about AI 😅
@@mememe733 isn’t it both very convenient… and worrying when that happens? 😆 I’m so glad you stumbled on my video anyway 😊 Hope your beanie turns out looking gorgeous! Wheelie
Hi, new subscriber here, I'm Ginny, I'm a yarn club subscriber too in Sydney Australia !!! My next project will be the round neck jumper! I love Yarn Club. Crafty HUGS ❤😊
@@knitwithginny So nice to meet you! Waving from Perth 👋 It is rare that I get a comment from an Aussie! 😃 That jumper is lovely, you mean the knitted one right? I’ve seen some beautiful versions of it shared on instagram 😃 I’m actually learning to knit at the moment and was eyeing off that kit, but realistically I’m a long way off being able to make it… my knitted scarf looks… rustic (…terrible 😆). It’s funny going from being a pro with crochet to trying out knitting, it feels like I should know what I’m doing, but I am definitely starting from scratch. 🧶🤗 Wheelie
@wheeliemadeitcrochet You Go girl you can do it! 😊
Hello! If i wanted to add a third color, how would that work? I've been trying to find a pattern, but i can't 😭
Maybe by putting 12 stitches (3 x 4 stitches) and otherwise follow the tutorial? Just make sure that you stop increasing before it get too large 😊 Did you try? And if so, how did it go?
♥lovely.....
I don't understand the math at all , if you have an odd no. and add 2 to it, it will give you an odd no.
Thank you so much for the beautiful dragonfly blanket tutorial. I used Yarn Art Begonia yarn, a mercerized cotton #2 and it came out beautiful. I used a different border but the results were lovely. Thank you, my grand daughter will love it!
Oh that sounds beautiful, thank you so much for sharing that with me, it must look gorgeous in the cotton, the dragonflies would stand out so nicely ❤ I’m sorry it took me a while to respond, it was really lovely to come back to TH-cam and find your comment. All the best, Wheelie
I don't have one of these but I think I need one! Thanks for this great review x
Fantastic ideas! Thanks Wheelie x
So nice to hear an Aussie accent 🐨
Yay! So glad you found me ❤
Thanks for this beautiful border. I made material squares with this border but now I don't know how to crochet it together? Please help!
I love it
Thank you so much ❤️
I’m learning how to do knitting on machine and I would love to learn how to crochet patches
Hi Wheelie, is it possible to use a 4 weight yarn for this beanie? Would I need to go down a hook size to achieve the right fit?
Hi 👋 I can’t give you an absolute yes or no, but it *may* work - try a 4mm hook and your yarn. Once you’ve got the starting chain and slip stitched to make a circle, test to see how it fits on your head (I’ve got some tips in the video). Also it might be worth doing a small swatch of half double crochet with the yarn and hook to see if the fabric you create will be too stiff to be comfortable. Sometimes even if you get the right size with the smaller hook, it’s not worth doing because the beanie ends up being less wearable. Saying that, I’ve made this pattern quite frequently with a 3.5mm hook and no.3 yarn to make kids’ beanies, so using a 4mm hook and 10 ply/worsted weight might be absolutely fine depending on the yarn. Let me know how you go? Hope it works well for you! Wheelie
@@wheeliemadeitcrochet Thanks so much😃
How do you wash it?
Hi 😊 You can’t wash these - the cable would get wrecked. But I haven’t noticed that any of mine look dirty, maybe pick a colour that won’t show it too much if you’re worried? Maybe go for darker colours rather than pastels? Sorry I couldn’t help more 👩🏻🦼Wheelie
So glad I found you and so good you are an Aussie! Looking forward to making this lovely slouchy!
Thank you so much! It’s always so nice to meet another Aussie crocheter 😃😃 hope your slouchy turns out well 👩🏻🦼 Wheelie
I just made this border for my blanket. Love the way it looks, but it takes a lot of time.
I’m so glad it turned out well for you, I hope you feel it was worth all the effort 🤞 I’ve just finished putting this border on a blanket too and weaving in the final end was satisfying - after crocheting all the large fans on the final round I’m ready for a different stitch 😆👩🏻🦼
Do you remember what yarn you used for this project?
Sure do 😊 It’s a cotton/acrylic blend from Spotlight called “Anette Eriksson Jeans Crazy Yarn”. I managed to get it super discounted in one of their sales ages ago but I just checked and they still stock it 😃👩🏻🦼
@@wheeliemadeitcrochet Thank you!
Do you remember what yarn you used for this project?
Hi again 👋 I just answered you on a different video before I saw this - now I’m not sure if you were you asking about the blue-red-white yarn from my granny square blanket… Or the yarn used in the floral square? I hope it was the blanket because I just gave you all the details 🤣🤣 if it is the floral square you are asking about, I used 4 Seasons, Marvel 8 ply, which is a Spotlight yarn. All the best! 👩🏻🦼
@@wheeliemadeitcrochet omg I thought I deleted this comment, I was asking about the granny square blanket yarn. Tysm!

I LOVE YOU. This was so easy to follow!! I'm fourteen and this is the first ever pair of gloves I've crocheted:) I'm so happy with how they turned out
❤️ I’m really happy your gloves worked out well! Thanks so much for the lovely message, you made my day ❤️
I am a newbie. I love how thoroughly you explain how to crochet. Thank you so much, I am. 80 yrs old and have forgotten so much regarding crochet. God bless. P.S. What size do you recommend in this pattern for a throw?
Thank you, I’m so glad you like my video ❤️❤️ have you already started making your throw blanket? I’ve found there isn’t really a ‘standard’ size (and what’s called standard seems to vary a lot by country). For my blankets I tend to do it by eye, chain the starting chain and see if it looks right - I know that’s not terribly technical! If I were to give you actual measurements I’d have just googled them, I honestly just make most of my blankets either to fit a specific bed or based on whether they’ll cover me when I’m curled on the couch 😉 I hope that’s some help, sorry I’ve been so long replying, I’ve had a couple of weeks of ill health and haven’t been around TH-cam as often. It’s nice to have ‘met’ you ❤️👩🏻🦼 Wheelie

Triad stitch
It does seem I’m alone in calling it a triptych!! 😆
What yarn and hook is used here ?
It’s an Australian 8ply (DK weight), if you’re in Australia it’s Spotlight’s 4 Seasons Marvel, the blanket is in Duck Egg and the border in Natural, I used the recommended hook size - 4mm. Hope that helps! 👩🏻🦼
Oh, meant to say, it looks great in yarn that’s thinner than what I demonstrated with here but people have shown me how it’s worked out in worsted weight and that looked good too!
Thank you for your work figuring out all that math,! Excellent tutorial and SUCH a beautiful border!❤
