Any owner of the LK150 knitting machine quickly has to come to grips with the fact that this machine has no ribbing attachment, and that if they want to knit a garment with ribbed edges, they need to learn how to overcome this obstacle, either by knitting a rib by hand on needles, hand manipulating it, or doing a mock rib. Hi Sally, that’s an excellent video. I managed to pick up one of these yesterday. It has a couple of missing parts. The first one yours looks missing as well and it’s to do with the beater bar There’s a bit missing across the top of it. Well, I downloaded a knitking manual as it was free rather than buying the weave master manual. The main piece that’s missing seems to be where the actual weave master attaches to the knitting machine. To the side of it there are letters ABCD and E and a slot well, I think the missing part goes. Would it be possible? You could send me over a picture of how you connect yours? The machine is so old and rare I very much doubt I’m ever gonna be able to purchase this part but I’m wondering look if I could look at it I could make a workaround, any help? I would be really grateful thanks rachel.

    A very informative video Sally and I really admire anyone who can punch a whole card with the pop punches. In the days before dye cutting machines I used the PM10 (or I paid someone to cut my cards for me!). Just as a note, at the risk of sounding pedantic (sorry!) at 4:46 Toyota machines don't use a belt mechanism, they use a grooved rotating rod that engages with the carriage and moves the needles. The rod spins backwards and forwards in time with the carriage movement - just as the belt mechanism would slide side to side (and in IMHO is much more reliable than the belt system which is prone to slipping).

    • @sallybutcherskalamundakrafts

      Honestly? it’s a beginner thing and will go away as you improve. Your overhead tension could be slightly off so that the yarn slackens off then catches, your yarn could be a bit fluffy, the brushes could have a wonky bristle or two. Try to get into the habit of holding the yarn above the carriage just as you start to knit the row, to stop it looping. You can also use the yarn separators (Silver Reed only) which will keep the yarn travelling through the arm instead of underneath it.

    • @sallybutcherskalamundakrafts

      You could, but you don’t need to. Ravel cord is useful in separating two sections of knitting without unravelling one of them. I use it mostly on the bottom end of the work, as unravelling knitting from the bottom up doesn’t work.

      Don’t measure your swatch with a ruler! The green scale calculates the EQUIVALENT number of stitches and rows per 10cm. But that’s not the number of rows and stitches that you knitted so of course it won’t measure 10x10cm.

    Anyone know what could be causing dropped stitches on a LK150. Any suggestions would really be appreciated.

    • @janatherton9194

      Sometimes you can get dropped stitches if one of your latches is closed when the carriage goes across, you can also get them when you have a break in your yarn, or you have some static when using synthetic yarns. Another reason can be your weights, if you have too much, or too little weight your stitches can drop, especially at the edges. I start with claw weights at the edges and every few inches along the bottom and move them after about 2-3 inches of knitting has been done. I hope this helps you a bit.

    • @sallybutcherskalamundakrafts

      Is it in the same place? If so, could be a damaged needle. If random, could be insufficient weight
