    I’ve read a lot of reviews saying the regular photons get soft after they break in. I want a boot that I can wear both in and out of the park that will last me several seasons. Do you think the flex in these will hold up, or would it be safer to go with the regular photons?

    • @themidwestshredder
      @themidwestshredder 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It would probably be safer to go with the regular photons. The only thing is that they are really responsive and stiff so you would have to get used to that. If you already ride a real stiff set up then it probably won’t be a problem.

    Hey Jimmy, I'm an all mountain freestyle rider and I spend a lot of time in the park. I'm thinking of making the switch to step ons. I'm gonna go with the lobacks when they're available again and the Swath boots. I love a more free and playful setup so this seems like the best choice. I've read a ton of reviews on the Swath Step On boots and most people go up half a size. I'd prefer to go true to size but I do have an E width foot and I'm worried the boots will be too tight and cause pain. Unfortunately I don't live near any shops and have to order online. What's your experience with the Swath boot as far as sizing and how it packs out?

I own one black mystery (bought around Y2k on polish ebay for about 20 bucks) and two ketchup mustard. The black one is pretty same condition as yours, the other two dedenitely worse. Two recommendations I would make is: 1) to use stomp pads by both bindings (even if you're riding directional, see #2) , 2) to use stomp pads with spikes (crab grab shark teeth for example) to help avoid snow getting into my binding bed to begin with. I almost never have issues clipping as I've gotten into the habit of using those spiky stomp pads to clean the bottom of my boots before trying to step in. I can do the whole lift my high-back, wipe binding bed, step-in, go in under a few seconds so it's easy to keep up with all my skier friends. I have been experimenting with the PowerRide inserts this season for stiffer/more support around the ankle on the step-on boots. They seem to stiffen up the boot quite well and makes my board even more responsive, and its seemed to help with my ankle pain as well. Might be worth looking into, especially for those who love to carve.

I put regular strap bindings (stiff side) on the jones board and it unlocked it. Step ons on a medium to soft board were fantastic. 28 years of riding experience so it might just be my preference.
