I am really good friends with one of Peter’s sons, and he was a legend in the snowboarding world. He told me 4 days before he passed away that he had made a total of $100 million dollars in sales as a rep in the snowboarding industry. He was the top Burton sales rep in the East Coast. I have many many stories about him but he was a burton legend to say the least.
That board is awesome! I have a 1983 Burton Backhill but mine has two binders. I know this is rare since most produced that year had one binder for the front foot and a strap for the back foot. I've owned this board since 1985. But it is difficult finding accurate info on my board. I've seen some claim it was a prototype. I'm curious also about its value. I've seen some go for $1500, some for less, some for more, and some listed for $28,000?! If someone wants to pay that 28k, great lol! Can you tell me anything about the Backhill having this second binder and its story? And, any insights on the value? Thanks! Great video! Brings back memories of a good snow and hiking with the buddies and our boards to the golf course and riding Killer Hill!
Hi, I also have one of those 83 Backhills and you are correct, they came with a strap for the rear foot. Does your board have inserts to install the rear binding or was it installed a different way? If it does have inserts, do they look like the same type for the front binding? A lot of weird stuff happened back then. I wonder if it was supposed to be a performer experimental and was accidentally screened as a backhill. Pretty cool though, thanks for sharing. If you want to share pics, im on instagram @themidwestshredder
Hey Jimmy, I can't post a link, but there is a listing on craigs list ashland oregon for vintage boards, mid-80s to early 90s, mostly Burton (cruzer, elite, kelly), but also K2, Kemper, Sims. 16 total. Seller is "might consider shipping", but hit me up if you need someone on the west coast to help make this happen.

Nice story! Are you going to try and ride it at least once?
I’m tempted but I don’t think I will. With my luck I’ll end up breaking it 😄
Nice , let me know if your looking for more .
Not at this moment but maybe in the future. You can always message me on IG @themidwestshredder to let me know what you have. Thank you.
The original step in binding
Haha true!

Thank you so much Steve, I really appreciate that! That sounds like a killer collection. Unfortunately I’m tapped out right now buying boards.
