The ONE thing that's killing your progress (especially if you're smart)
Being smart and intellectual doesn't automatically mean you'll be successful and make progress in your life. In fact, I've seen a lot of smart people stagnate because they doubt themselves while other people just go out and take action.
This video comes ONE sneaky defense mechanism a lot of intellectual/smart people have that stops them from making progress towards their goals. If you feel like you're a thinker/intellectual but aren't making progress towards your life goals, take a look at this video.

Stop Giving Advice to People Who Don't Ask For It
A major problem are how unqualified recruiters and hiring managers are. A bunch of trolls and incompetents gatekeeping the most important part of economics - getting the job. They are literally grinding the country to a halt. Also need to call out these companies for their poor behavior. Protecting them allows them to keep up their wrongdoing.
Engineering is much better. I gave up got my cdl and started my own trucking buisness
I came here from your previous video about your job search struggles. I think everyone loves to see a good comeback story! Well done and wishing you all the best in your new role!
thank you!
you cant get a job YOU WANT, but if you were not picky maybe you can find a job. have you heard of walmart and amazon and home depot? while working there you can still be
Go back and do accounting.
I was thinking of getting into IT starting with getting my Security+ cert. maybe I should change my plans if the tech market is so crazy now
The tech market is super competitive, however if you're looking into IT definitely look into cybersecurity. Cybersecurity is good because: 1. There will always be a demand. 2. Given the nature of the industry, they're less likely to outsource internationally.
Get real. Become a plumber! Get a real job. Wake up.

I feel for you dude. I don’t have a degree, just HS diploma and 20+yrs in manufacturing, I’m now 52 yo. I had been laid off a few times, didn’t know when our next meal would come from or if we’d even have a roof over our head. 3 mos into not finding a job, I had to do something, I had to be marketable. So every time I got laid off, I learn a new trade (trucking, culinary, construction and investing) never really made lots of money but learned to save and stayed afloat. I’ve been back in manufacturing (QA) five yrs now; company just laid off half of its staff and I’m prepared if/when I’m next. I have other skills now that I can fall back on. I can cut lawns, haul trash, build sheds, reno homes, or start a food truck, or maybe just sit back and collect my rental incomes. If not for lay-offs, I would not have learned new skills to be more marketable and financially comfortable.
thank you for this great video, I'm also 35 and starting over my life (and a youtube channel 🤣)
I'm just gonna watch one more "tips and tricks" video before I start. I wouldn't want to make any mistakes
When you feel confident that you're going to land the job or offer..... you never do.
You had a job offer you turned down, why not just take it and keep looking?
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
You will soon
Try Guesty they’re hiring
keep statistics on who gets the job. You can do that by snooping around linked in after a few months. I did that for 100 jobs that i had applied to in 2022-2023. Not much, but as a graphics designer and 3D artist you are kind of limited in offers. here are my findings: roughly 30% led to an interview. All 100 recruiters were female, The only men i met were an occasional male CEO. Most hired are: Juniors (70% of cases) Female (99% of cases) 85% of cases they were a worse candidate than me. Many didn't even have more than 1-2 years of experience and not even a portfolio to market themself (i got 12+ years btw and multi-disciplinary). What i can gather is there's an extreme case of misandry in the recruitment industry. Even if companies do not advertise that they are applying DEI practices.. it's quite evident that they are. I almost ended up on the streets but i managed to get some jobs through my own company that i started and have survived on the income from my company so far. So i see a lot of men complaining they can't get hired. It's predominantly men so i have a suspicion that it's not just a lack of interest from employers.. but also for certain types of individuals.
I've been selling my ass to the older ladies....$100 per trick. It's been exhausting....they are all so needy of my man juice....come on!!!
EXCELLENT VIDEO - I have been there before....... I understand the pain..... I went through Tech slowdown 2001
Same here I have degrees and years of experience. I have been applying and interviewing since March 2024. I hope I find something soon. Especially during the holidays it’s rough. Sending positive vibes your way. The new year is almost here you will find a job.
2yrs, oct 2022, no jobs since here, 20+yrs exp, over 30 certs in cloud network engineering and devops
Don’t forget marriage is a scam for men that is not worth it. Do not do it. You will get screwed over in the end.
I was out of work some years ago. Sent out 500 resumes over 6 month. It wasn't the same resume. I tweaked it for every job. I had 5 interviews. 3 of them were for temp agencies. One told me after the interview was done: I had 5 people I called in, you're the last one, but I hired the 4th yesterday. So I asked why they didn't cancel the interview. She literally said: you seem like an interesting person. I was so frustrated.
If you have send out more than 10 resumes without getting a job/job offers/contact, then the problem could be you. You're flooding the market, lessening the chance for somebody more suitable than you getting that job. Better/hone your skills in the areas that you're lacking with the time you're spending time sending resumes. People rarely finish reading the job descriptions or know anything about the company before rushing to send their application.
I have been hunting since 2022 and still haven’t got no luck yet.
same, over 2yrs and 30 certs

How's ur new job
Did this guy really waste weeks in Brazil over saving money and finding a job?
I lost my position as a Senior Meteorologist back in 2004. I was 48 years old. A month later, I got work at a temp agency for $8.50 an hour, as an entry level analyst at Coca-Cola. This was MORE than an seventy percent pay cut...but I knew I would progress, and I did. I fully retired 13 years later, after getting on full time, and promoted no fewer than five times. Don't be afraid to start BELOW where you want too.
How about you show us your resume? Maybe you need to do more things. If you don't have the skills, you don't have the skills.
Well you are beta gay nerd so…. Factor that in
Thai is a great video Jeremy! I’m two month into my job search and starting a bridge job still in my area but with a huge pay cut 🙃but I will be able to cover my expenses and will get health insurance for myself and my family. The closets I’ve been to offers are because of networking! And I agree about how the market values specialists instead of generalists - that was the trend a few years ago - this is why I have decided to pursue a masters degree to position myself better for the future.
sadly, from what i seen, the most vulnerable people to layoff are sales/marketing, HR, Product Program Managers, IT. And then after all that, it's the engineers they start laying off.
Hey man how’s it going? Did you find a job in the end?
Yup, I've been at it for around 3 months!
@ Oh happy to hear!
@@Life_with_Jeremy awesome man, 2yrs+ nothing for me, 30 certs, 20+ yrs exp, won a award too dont matter
I was in and out of jobs the first 5 years out of college. It was brutal. In 2019, I finally landed a corporate job as a contractor, and now I worked myself up as a manager. I still live with my parents, and I save 60% of what I make, I max out my 401k and Roth IRA, and put additional savings in an index fund. The paranoia hasn't left me and I KNOW exactly what you're experiencing. Its so rough, especially now. Hang in there people! Save what you can so you can prepare for situations like this!
a friend of mine recently got hired after a few months of applications, but before that he had verbally accepted an offer but before a written offer could come in the CEO put a hold on all hiring.... it was brutal but i'm happy he got a job now
In this job market I'm scared of switching jobs (I'm in IT tech support), I have friends unemployed for 9 months trying to find a job in IT (helpdesk). The only possible way right now is referral with someone you know or switch fields (skilled trades or blue collar). Job postings regularly have 4000 applicants, especially if the job is remote, tons of new immigrants and people outside of the country are applying
It all comes down to supply and demand, there are just way too many People in the tech market looking for tech jobs that you become just a number for these Companies. For each new job opening, there will be 100 to 1,000 People applying for that job, your resume will likely not even pass through the screening due to this. The tech market is over saturated, all those ads and propaganda over the last 10 years of telling everyone 'learn to code', get a tech degree, software boot camps telling you that you can get a $100k remote comfy job, etc., has made tens of thousands of new People across USA come into the tech industry. The problem is that market is just over saturated with so many People right now, even if you are an experienced developer, you are competing with People from all over the US, maybe even the World due to the remote nature of tech jobs now. The over saturation has killed the tech job market for job seekers, the only thing you can do is keep applying, or learn new skills and switch to a different career path entirely. There is really nothing else in our hands when it comes to landing a job, let alone a job interview in this market. And Companies know this all well, that's why they keep job listings open to gather a pool of candidates, and the can use that as a leverage in the future to pay low to any potential hires.
It's not the AI bot stole your job. It's your CEO who outsourced to India or hired an H1B here. Ban H1B. Call your congress/Musk/Trump. Let them stop this bleeding before it's too late.
Hey Jeremy, I tottaly felt every single word you mentioned in this video. I am currently on a job hunt for 7 months and totally understand how frustrating it is. Best of luck and may God bless you.
Thank you very much for this video.
WOW. I know this was filmed 5 months ago, and I hope you have found a job since then, but I totally understand. Though I am not in the same industry as you are, I have been job hunting for almost 2 years and have had no success. I am empathetic to how you are feeling (or felt at the time of your filming)
You're talented, you can also in the meantime think of your passions and gifts and make a business out of it and your followers can be there with you too, just an idea I feel would fit you because starting business isn't for everyone always. May you succeed at all your good wishes in God's name.
I mean, I know the struggle of finding a job... But visa holders lose their jobs and they have just 60 days (2 months) to find another job.... At least you're in a position that you can take your time to find a job. Count your blessings. It's the market... It's nobody's fault. When the govt was handing out free money, everyone was getting hired with pay bumps of 30% 40% etc... Now it's the other way around... No one to blame
Thank you for your honest video. I’m job hunting and it’s demoralising. I can see that I’ll probably hit rock bottom soon and pivoting is my only option. The jobs market is truly shocking for those of us looking for a full time job, it used to be so much easier 20 years ago.
I'm 55yrs old $24,000 weekly and I'm retired, this video have inspired me greatly in many ways that I remember my past of how I struggled with many things in life to be where I'm today!!❤
Hello How're you earning such weekly? sometimes I feel down on myself because of low finances, but I still believe in God
Thanks to Mrs. Elizabeth Regina Nelsen's time in my life, which had a profound impact on me.
Sounds familiar. I have heard her name on several occasions and read about her success stories in wall street journal!
Who's Elizabeth Regina Nelsen!?looking forward to this opportunity Can I also sign up from Ontario Canada?
She is really a good investment advisor. I was privilege to attend some of her seminars. That's how I started my own crypto investment.
Jeremy, I heard you loud and clear. The same happened to me in May this year. I was a security architect at a medical device company until they laid off my entire team. I've searched, applied, and interviewed at a lot of organizations. Sometimes, i got to the end of the interview process without offers. Sometimes, i got scheduled for final interviews only to have the recruiter call off the interviews. To make the story short, I just got sick of the craziness and just started my own cybersecurity company with a partner who's currently a BISO. We're currently fleshing out our service templates and will need a cybersecurity salesperson soon. Fellas, reach out if you're a fit and interested in joining. By the way, I'm a computer engineer who has built and sold a few successful businesses before. I've also had my fair share of failed businesses in the past (two to be specific), so I'm not under any illusion regarding how to make a business work. We'll be providing cybersecurity services to small and medium-sized enterprises in the short term. For the long-term, we're building an AI-driven enterprise email security product that'll bring capabilities currently non-existent. If you're interested, email info@redbluecyber.com.
I'm glad I'm not the only one struggling. Being unemployed is stressing me out!
I can’t either and have been networking over 2 years…
I've been trying to leave fast food recently, but too bad hiring managers are selfish bastards that can't even give a shit about anyone's feelings about people wanting a job. Especially when you apply, they don't reach out to you, they don't call you for an interview, even if you've been through an interview, they say they'll call you but they don't. They ghost you, it's so fucking bullshit that managers nowadays are heartless and they can't make people's lives happier. Not everyone has great interview skills but why can't the real world care about our feelings? Idk, I hate real life so much. I've been going through a lot of tough times with depression because this world is heartless😭
