Very good video thanks for that. I bought one of these because local garages couldn't handle my motorhome after I changed the outer and inner tie rods. I got a bit confused with the instructions. After each adjustment you have to start again and was quite difficult to get right with new components as setting up using the old components settings was way out. The result was good in the end. Vehicle drives in a straight line hands off so happy with that. Would recommend but be prepared for the time it may take. I wouldn't bother with a car far easier to take it to a garage but great for large vehicles.

Hey, just bought a trackace and I am struggling a bit on my Porsche 924, the trackace tool measures the angular difference between the right an left wheel. But if the wheels are pointing into one direction but equally the tool will still show you 0° of toe but your steering wheel will not be level, how do i get around that? I have done all the adjustments so that the tool shows 0° toe and my steering wheel is still not straight. Am I missing something?

to fix the 180 degree offset issue, you simply open up the distributor and flip the mechanical advance part 180 degrees.

I know this is a three year old video, but I found it looking for the same info - how to fit a distributor on correctly. In the video you have found TDC but not on the compression stroke for cylinder 1, that's why the Rotor Arm and ergo the Distributor shaft is 180 degrees out. AFAIK you would need to rotate the engine another full turn so that the rockers on cylinder 1 on on the rock (both loose). This is when cylinder 1 is on its compression stroke and thats when the rotor arm should be pointing to cylinder 1. The way you have done it will work but you would need the HT lead for cylinder 1 in the non standard position - bottom left.

Little tip if you find the distributors worm gear drive shaft is 180° out the long cylinder head stud on a minis engine threads into it making it easier to remove and reinstall the correct way

Just found this video as I am debating about painting my minis dash board or keeping it wood grain look and your technique isn't that bad (been watching spray painting tutorials) and the only time they move their wrists is at the edge of the panels just to stop paint runs and it is a quick flick aswell, also what did you have the air pressure as the compressor set too?

Hi Tom, thanks for this video. I watched it before tackling removing the needle roller bearings from the suspension arms on my car. It's a 1969 Mini Cooper S I'm restoring. It tried the official tool, having bought a kit for £28 on eBay. It uses slide hammer which didn't work at all. No chance of moving the bearings that had been in there no doubt from new 53 years ago using this method, so I had to think of something else. I was inspired by your video to make one of my own, initially thinking it would be easy with the right tool. Not the case! So I had to think of another way to do it. The whole saga can be seen in the video I made here: th-cam.com/video/ZtLS1emAsio/w-d-xo.html Incidentally, I noticed that all my original bearings were sitting dead flush with the end of the cast iron. I guess it probably doesn't matter if it's slightly further in or not. The casting inside won't let it go much deeper than you've done it anyway. Great video, thanks, Steve

No no need to remove this idea until you know what you are talking about. The distributor shaft has a off set dog and not a worm. The reason why the distributor won’t go in is because it will only go in one way due to the off set. Don’t confuse people
