2ZZ-GE Sounds So Raw and Loud W/O a Speed Sensor!
On my way home the speedo cable popped out of the transmission with an amazing sound on the primary cam as a surprise. No lift unfortunately as the ECU thinks the car is not driving. The enhanced sound must come from the fact that VVT is locked at a certain degree when its not driving. Feels like a mini Lift happening at 4500 RPM. Correct me if I'm wrong in the commend section. I fixed the cable back in the transmission so it's back how it should be, but I sure do miss the sound!

Motor mount that u use for the 2zz swap
I forgot but i'll check for you. I will come back to this comment.
Parts needed to fit .what drive shafts did you use .ect
I did answer some of your questions recently on this video (and on my other videos) Take a look at some of my reply’s. There is some helpful information. But I will help you some more but be patient. I’m busy atm. I will come back to your comment and share some more basic knowledge about this swap. I might even do a video about it. Tell me, what car do you want to swap the 2zz in?
Hi can't find any information on the conversation looks great
@@darraghpender619 Thank you! There is enough info on it if you’re really looking. What exactly do you need info about?
Which engine mounts did you use or were they all custom made?
@@antti4189 On the gearbox side I used a mix from both 2e and 2zz engine. No need for customization. On the timing side I used the original 2zz mount that needs to be welded/bolted to the chassis.(the stock AE92 mount needs to be cut out) Frontside a 2zz corolla mount and on the backside a Stock AE92 mount. The latter two need to be custom fitted and are the hardest to do properly but is doable if you have some cutting welding experience. Hope this helps.
@@EnginesRMymusic yes, very helpful. Thank you!
Was it a difficult swap
@@darraghpender619 it’s not too difficult if you have some experience in mechanics, welding and cutting. The electronics requires some thorough research but is also doable yourself.
Is that RPM tach not correct or the lift engage at 3200 RPM? what is the magic?
@@aratanas The magic is a clutch kick. Watch the shoes and you’ll see.

Is that a k&n air intake? And if not can you plz tell me the name of it.
Hi i also have an ae92 doing a 2zz swap, how did u retain the factory gauge cluster?
Not too big of a deal to wire the the original cluster. What part are we speaking of? Tacho and odometer or just in general?
@@EnginesRMymusic both i have a 89 corolla gts and i want to retain the tac and the speedo, also did u use the body harness off of the 2zz? i just have the engine harness and ecu out of a tsunami edition gts
@@julianmonroe3158 you need some third party hardware to make it work perfectly. Look up “Brantz BR3” you fit this device in between your mechanical speed cable. That way it gives you mechanical and digital speed signal output for the cluster and the ECU. For the tachometer, look up “tachobooster” this is a device that boost your RPM signal to a voltage that old tachometers can read. About the wiring Harness, I only used the 2ZZ engine wiring loom and adapted it to fit the body wiring loom. Not that hard to do honestly. Look up some 2zz wiring PDFs and also from the car you are trying to put the 2zz in. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need more information.
@@EnginesRMymusic Thank u i will update u in the future once im onto wiring i apreciate the help alot
how do you get the speedometer to work with a speedometer cable ?
@@jeanpablohernandez3119 yes i used the original cable but you also need speed sensor output for the ECU. To accomplish that I used something called “Brantz BR3” jap speed sensor. Screw this one in between the cable and you have analog and digital signal.
@@EnginesRMymusic Thank you so much for the reply, your car Rips hard! looking to do the same swap in a ae92 sedan... One other question what axles are you using?
@@jeanpablohernandez3119 glad I could help. I used Celica T23 axles. They can be from the 1ZZ-FE or from the 2ZZ-GE, doesn’t matter either one will fit. Just Knock the ABS ring off and they fit perfectly! No need to source from different cars. Also, thank you for the kind words. I Love my 2ZZ swap very much. It’s awesome! Let me know if you have any more questions.
@@EnginesRMymusic thank you for your advice! much appreciated!
sorry to keep bothering you! did you use all original mounts for the ae92?
Why the different gear ratios???
Both have the exact same gearbox. The reason why the AE92 seems to go quicker is because the car weights less. Also, the AE92 has 14'' rims while the AE101 has 16"
I subscribed only for the simple reason that my wife couldn't make me orgasm in 10 years and you sir have done that in less than a minute OMG. This is the best sound I have ever heard. Believe me. I drive down the freeway listening to this reading it over and over... sometimes I believe it's my car.. but then I realize I'm driving a chevy.. man. This is GLORY.. SO BEAUTIFUL 😊
absolute perfection.. keep driving our carburated screaming 12,000rpm 90°V4 180crank just to say fuck you to these shit ass euro 6 bikes that sound like shit
Nice one. How does the exhaust named? Greetings from Germany.
What changes were made with the 2e? Mine would explode if it reached 4k rpm's!
@@J.Spitz90 Nothing I know of. I think it was bone stock. The engine makes a lot of noise when revved. Just keep pushing it I guess. It won’t explode if the engine sounds healthy to begin with. These 2E engines won’t blow up, even if you’re trying ;) Edit* peak power for this engine lays around 6000RPM so there should be some more power left over 4000RPM
@@EnginesRMymusic Yea these 1E and 2E engines just keep revving. I heard you can reliably rev a 2E to 9000RPM just with stronger valve springs, although it doesn't make any power up there
So you're running a speed sensor or rhe cable goes into the speedo? Or should I ask, is the speedometer you have is ran by wire or by cable
@@CodyBi I’m running a “Brantz BR3” aftermarket speed sensor. So the cable still goes in the speedo. It’s digital and analog at the same time. Hope this answers your question.
@@EnginesRMymusic thanks alot, although I myself swapping in 7afe with a 240l automatic, some dude who is doing the 3sgte swap asked about how to deal with the speed sensor. So again, thanks a lot!
@@CodyBi You’re welcome! These speed sensors aren’t widely known at all but really work very well. It’s a perfect solution to keep the stock speedo while still being able to put out some digital signal as well. Something like this exists for the tachometer too. It’s called a “Tachobooster” it drives the output signal voltage up so our old school RPM gauge can work with a newer style low voltage Ecu signal output. Just some extra information.
@@EnginesRMymusic thanks, although here, we would probably have to use lada's speedsensor with a cable output I wonder how ECU controls the 240E transmission if it's speed reading is going to a speedo? Although from what I know, Corollas with Digital dashes are outputting the speed reading from the dash to the ecu upd2: not 240E, but 140E (Geo Prizm)
very beautifull engine but pls dont give him redline for 3 second straight 😂
@@oljackie35 Thank you! I’m only hard on it for the video’s. It’s in perfect condition still🙏🏻
@@EnginesRMymusic if it wouldnt those pistons were going to a tour to orbit😆
Beauty! What are those 3 gauges to the right? And your engine mount on the right is it rsi mount? Or custom
Sounds amazing dude. Needs to rev higher tho
wtf did you do with the clutch down there ? i'm confused
@@OddStare It’s called clutch kicking. Mostly used on RWD cars to break traction before a drift. In this case I did exactly that but in a FWD car, however there is no use for that because spinning the wheels won’t allow for a fast acceleration. I did it just for the effect/fun of it.
@@EnginesRMymusic Thats some heavy duty clutch you have there, its the meanest 2zz i've ever heard kuddos
The economy light was not working because of the engine swap?
I wired it in so it works but the vacuum sensor is busted. I haven’t been able to find a new one. They are hard to come by it seems.
U got itbs on this?
No I have not but I did put my intake towards the cabin. Makes it ridiculously loud and awesome inside but isn’t good for intake temps unfortunately.
Ahh I see still sounds sick regardless
I can hear the velocity stack
Good ear! I did have a velocity stack in this video, very close to the fire wall. It’s so loud in lift that it hurts my ears after a few pulls. Very awesome though😎
Front wheel drives have to be the shittist easiest cars to drive. No chance on losing it. Can just slap gears without worry cause it’s not going anywhere 😂😂. Rear wheels drives take skill.
what intake is on the ae92? and if it has aftermarket headers can i know what those are as well thanks.
I’m sorry for my late reply. I have uploaded some engine bay footage where you can see my intake. About the exhaust header.. I custom fitted the original one for now.
@gt16v96 just saw the vid. Do you know the name for that intake that u have please
You guys don't get it. He was planting a muffler tree. The moment I am watching this video it should be a healthy new tree ready for the new vfr muffler harvest.
The engine sounds very healthy but it seems to be restricted, maybe you need a larger diameter exhaust. The acceleration, especially once you get up to speed, is going to improve a lot.
You are right about my exhaust being restrictive. Especially the last silencer. I tried to keep the car quiet but at the cost of power. When the car accelerates away from you, the only thing you hear is the large amounts of air being pushed out of the exhaust. I'm fixing it soon and will upload some more. Good notice!
@@EnginesRMymusic you can try a Helmholtz resonance muffler, it's gonna cut a lot of drone and low frequencies. Makes it much easier to drive around, after all whrn you're in the high rpms it is expected to be loud but that's not when the engine spends most of the time in daily driving/commuting. Also, in some cases it's beneficial because the remaining exhaust gas keeps recirculating in the resonance muffler, so it gives a slight improvement on throttle response in a sense. (Smoother exhaust flow) You might be interested on reading about exhaust manifolds, same technique but aiming to create some vacuum sto the exhaust gas is sucked out of the engine to a degree. Happy miles man, it's gonna be a great car!
How do u get it to rev so high? Valve springs?
What gearbox do u have?
Stock C60 transmission that came with the engine. Flawless gearbox so far.

What axle and how cu did you use? Iv heard it’s like an 80 camery axle and stock axle from c60 transmission?
@@drewswanson2701 you just need the 2zzge Celica axles. Fits perfectly. Hammer the ABS ring of and you’re done. Corolla axles are a little longer so make sure you got the Celica 2zz axles. Edit* 1ZZ-FE axles from a Celica should also fit but they might a bit weaker.
@@EnginesRMymusic I have an 1995 US spec ae101 but iv heard they should use the same axles as ae92 so i would assume it would also work for it as well. So just stock celica axles that’s great news. Thank you so much.
