That statement is false. Its the combination of high rpms paired with high G-force turns that can cause the oil pump to be starved of oil due to the poorly designed baffle-less oil pan. I believe Moroso sells a baffled pan if you're worried or plan to be giving it the beans on track. Upgrade the pump if you're looking to add serious power, you'll be fine with the oem pump if that isn't your goal. I took my 03 Gts all the way to 8400 rpms on a near daily basis multiple times a day with stock pan & pump & it never once skipped a beat. Sold it with 290,000km on the engine but always opted for high quality oils ie amsoil, RP and change intervals of no more than 5000km.
@@PaidInFull1995 Oil starvation and high rpms are deadly to the oil pump. When there is no resistance the pump gear could disintegrate. A miss shift in to a lower gear while accelerating destroys the pump also but the same goes for the valvetrain and thus for the engine. The JDM spec ecu has a higher rpm limit (8650rpm) My engine has seen the limiter quite a lot and held up fine. I do believe i'm on the limit of what the stock pump can handle. To be save it's not a bad idea to upgrade the pump though. Just adding power to the engine while staying on the same rev limit (for example by supercharging it) does not have impact on the pump. It's high revs that are killing it. I can almost guarantee around 9Krpm or a little above grenades the pump even if there it sufficient oil pressure. A 1zz-fe oil pan has a baffled sump too and with little modification will bolt up to the 2zz-ge engine and are fairly cheap and easy to come by. A Moroso pan is a better choice but it's not cheap. These engines can handle a lot of abuse just make sure its in good condition and change oil very regularly like you said. Also check the oil squirters in the valve cover. If the o ring is bad there is not enough oil being sprayed on the intake cam and it's causing you to lose the lift lobes very fast leaving you with an underpowered engine. I believe quite a lot 2zz-ge engines a driving around like this and owners not even knowing.
@@Swat_Dennis yep, I was just pointing out theres 2E (Carburated) and 2E-E (Fuel Injected). I think the one in the video has the redline modified. These 2E's are very happy revving engines!
@@J.Spitz90 Nothing I know of. I think it was bone stock. The engine makes a lot of noise when revved. Just keep pushing it I guess. It won’t explode if the engine sounds healthy to begin with. @@EnginesRMymusic Yea these 1E and 2E engines just keep revving. I heard you can reliably rev a 2E to 9000RPM just with stronger valve springs, although it doesn't make any power up there
Custom made exhaust and a close ratio C160 gearbox from a 4AGE 20V. The exhaust did nothing noticeable for performance. It’s the gearbox that made the engine feel more lively.
@@EnginesRMymusicA lot of people that love AE92s are from the Philippines. And the most common engine for it is the 2E Carb. It's an insanely reliable engine with low cost for repairs and upgrades which is why we love it so much despite the low horsepower.
Simply respect for the 2E engine
Its such a slug of an engine lol, reliable tho.
best engine
This takes me back to the Old NFS games where upgrades would change your engine sound!
Omg i forgot how awesome was that!!! I wish games still had this feature!
Yh 2zzge definitely stomped both, but they all sounded pretty good
Love the simplicity of these old school gauge clusters. All sound amazing too!
Sound gives me memories of watching Initial D. 😍
Feels like I should hear Eurobeat music playing in the background.
hope you upgraded the oil pump on the 2zz-ge (billet steel gears) they are known to disintegrate at high rpm.
Good point! I unfortunately have not upgraded the oil pump yet.

2E-E is the best
Did you do something to the 4AFE to make its sound much heard inside?
Not really. I’ve fitted a pod filter to the intake but nothing special.
respect to all engines but 2zz supremacy HELL YEA
Amazing car dude, are you in the Netherlands?
Yes man, good guess. Thank you!
Wait, revving the 2e to 7500 rpm? The normal one dies at 6500
It's a 2E-E, the Fuel Injection variant of the 2E. Regular 2E's are just Carburated
@@jms1238even so. Mine in the starlet fuel cuts at 6500 too, a 1996 model with electric injection.
The 4A-FE has a 7000 redline…

My 2e carb revs to 7500
the carburetor models can rev until engine dies
nice!
What changes were made with the 2e? Mine would explode if it reached 4k rpm's!

Put a set of blacktop 4age itbs on and let's see.
What did you have done with the 4A-FE?
I got it out of the car and it’s been collecting dust ever since

The gearboxes are different
Yes of course. one box does not fit all engines.
Damn makes me wish my 4AFE AE92 sedan wasn’t a 3 speed. My car has to be 3-4 seconds slower to 100km
Pretty sure thats not a regular 2E
Yes it was. 100% stock too. 75hp if I’m not mistaken.
2e engine best
Why do you think 2e is best? Just curious. I liked the characteristics and its fun for what it is but it’s just so slow.

C60 gearbox from a Corolla T Sport
The 2E-E was stock ?
Yes, fully stock.
Was 2E-E injected or carburated?
It was a carburated 2E engine
Oh! I though that engine code 2E-E is to the injected ones, like in A series, but its so difficult to tell
