Low Buck Garage
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 21 พ.ย. 2020
Projects for the average home garage guy (or gal) when you're low on bucks with limited tools. Lots of motorcycle, car, house repairs and projects using primarily hand tools vs expensive power/specialty tools. Ways to save money on modifications, your repairs and various projects.
Motorcycles and especially motocross, have always been a huge part of my life. As a young man, I worked in motorcycle shops. Lately I’ve dived back into the motorcycle world, having spent decades there, with some tech-how-to videos. A vet MX racer now, I recently placed a HIGHLY modified Honda CRF230F trail bike into a top ten finish at the World Vet Motocross Championships in 2023.
I now realize, more than ever, how much I truly love this sport, and yet all that pales in comparison to my commitment to Jesus and HIS will for my life.

Great job, you just got to tune to your hand the 250 like you did with the 230 and you'll reach the top 5. Sure! 😉✌️
You did it great, are still riding the 230 crf? The blue guy made didn't help you, you should have a better result. That's race. Next time 5th. 😉✌️
@@jeffb.7924 Still have the 230, not sure what future holds, we’ll see

@@richardpearson6321 More like “aaaaggghh!”
what happened at 4:15? Did #815 on the blue Yamaha try to kick you!?
No, he just crossed over into my line, without looking first, and I landed on him. His foot peg or something put a huge gouge in my engine clutch case. Oh well That’s racing!
Well done and good line choices! I always wonder how Glen Hellen was and it looks very vet friendly.
@@stevenjewell6984 Thanks. Not as smooth as it looks on video!
Brilliant
Yea the dude in blue definitely needs taught a lesson. You guys are 60, not 20.

Good ride bloke 👍. I'd like to get over there 1 day from Oz, I'll be 60 in 2026 🤔

That was freaking awesome! I just turned 67 two days ago and got off my 2017 VFR 1200X DCT @ 650 pound “dual sport!” Lol. I went looking at a YZ125x last weekend. Used to ride a 1974 Honda CR125M motocross bike back when they first came out and I weighed 128 pounds! Loved that bike, and could lift it up by myself it was so light, but fast! I think I’ll be getting that YZ soon! Love me some 2 stroke! Subscribed!
Heck yeah! Go for it. I’m a couple months out from turning 66 and still riding my YZ250 💨💨💨💨💨 2 strokes rock!
I'm sorry but those new 4 stroke bikes sound anemic at best, especially on those hills there. I would have stuffed that guy over the ledge....lol
Good Job! Early on you were in 5th!
Great Video Tom! Lots of thrills and excitement Can’t wait for the next race! Your sis Donna😊
😃❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❗️
Love the videos. Will you be making any more videos modifying the crf230, or is the crf 250R the new bike to modify and race and keep up with the great work
@@frankf2856 At a crossroads with channel right now. The 230 is still fun, I may keep it, or switch to 250 2-stroke? We’ll see. Thanks for watching.
Your riding great! That guy in blue is a menace on the track. Heck with a top ten, go for the win.😊
Great racing. Congrats!!!👍🏽✊🏽
It was a rut
@@rockyesterline7942 Actually…. I later learned It Wasn’t just the rut. Unknown to me at the time the steering stop had partially broken off in an earlier tipover. The front end knifed, and I went down hard. Thanks for watchin’
Will there be anymore crf230 videos or is the 250 the new project
@@frankf2856 Not much to do with the 250, it’s basically done! I have few more to edit still with the 230. Wondering now if I want to keep or sell it to pay for possible 250 mods. Ideas?
Deep Pockets Garage! So now that you have a great shock, how you gonna make it fit the 230?
Hardly. I’m on a pension. I found an XR350 shock in good shape to replace the 230’s blown (I don’t recommend) Racing Brothers shock. It works great, has remote reservoir with compression/rebound adjustment. I may have to sell the 230. Ideas?
@lowbuckgarage1 Just a joke, regarding deep pockets garage. Sell!? Maybe train on the 250 and use it as a backup. Save the lil guy for the races. Your "Brand" is David vs Goliath. David has gone from a rock to a rocket. The "low budget" is underdog entertainment and ppl relate to your personality and story. This also gives permission for Geezers to hop on a smaller bike and have fun. I think I'd rather see you on a super mini 112 than the CR250F. Sorry to run on here. Just some thoughts, that you obviously started out with, Perhaps. Hey brother do you and keep on the gas.
Thanks for the insight on my channel, appreciate it. I’m at a crossroads right now as far as my channel goes. I agree with what you say about the David and Goliath thing, and I was thinking about buying an older, budget 250 2stroke to compete with and keep that same theme going, with mods, etc.. but then along came the CRF250 deal/opportunity that I just couldn’t pass up. So we’ll see where all this goes. I can always sell the 230 and the 250, and then go 2stroke crazy, just to keep it interesting! Thanks for watchin’
@@lowbuckgarage1 I can't stop riding my upgraded '04 KTM 200SX(smoker). I installed a '17 YZ250f front end and 125SX '06 chassis. It hits so hard with mods, my forearms ache for days after a track day. My new 300SX is easier on the ole bod, butter smooth. IMHO, a 250 smoker isn't quite like "a knife to a gun fight" though. Unless you are on a dual shocker RM or Husky, but with upgraded disk front end for sure. How about an XR500 or 600 air cooled!?
@ With all those upgrades sounds like you could start your own channel.
I always look you up after the race to see how you go.Its a shame about the 230 but I’m sure you ended up having a great weekend. Adam watching from Australia.
@@adamh3470 I did! And it’s going to be a great year. 🇺🇸🇦🇺
Good Job! A buddy from NC Tom Landry rode his 250 2 stroke in the +60 Int class for 4th overall. He treked cross country over 7 weeks or so, with one of the last stops there. Maybe someday I will attempt something like that once I retire. @motolandry25

BIG FAN! I'll bet if you got hold of a YZ 250 2stroke, you would get a top 5 finish.😊
Congratulations on your finish! I have enjoyed your videos improving your CRF230, but glad to see you acquired a real motocross bike. I would love to make it to Glen Helen. I'm in NC so it would be a hike. I would suggest that with the new bike you rev it out further.
Yes! Rev it out, I see that now. I was trying to ride it like the 230. The 250 does have surprisingly good low end grunt though. Great motor, I’m putting the stock fork springs back in, they were way too stiff and beat me up. Thanks for watching.
@@lowbuckgarage1 I think you will be amazed when you rev it more. I would at least hit the rev limiter once in a while. At least when racing. I have a Husky 350 and don't rev it out much either, but itr really goes when I do.

Keep the 230 for play riding and basic fundamentals practice. All it's good for. Congrats on the 250f. I have the same bike, and dont have to tell you what a difference it must feel to the 230. Difference between water and a meal my friend😂. You did great...stay safe💯
@@unstoppableplayz6948 Thanks! 👍 Motos 2,3 still in edit.
I actually put a 400ex rear shock on my bike and it works very well. Redneck repairs... Had 1 on a junk 400 and it was basically bolt on.
Good ride, and better yet, looks like you had a good time! Definitely a bucket list thing, but being in NC its a commitment. My retired buddy @motolandry25 just completed 7 weeks on the road across the nation, with the world vets one of his last stops. Check him out, he rode 60+ Int and did well.
This has inspired me to get my ass back in shape and start racing again! I thank you for this video. Larry Cross ! Use to live in Napa California..
