Respect! Likewise I'm old also. I ride on the east coast. I have a few videos up. Been since 2015 I have ridden Glenn Helen on a Thursday with Dave at MX Vacations. Maybe next year
@@lowbuckgarage1 I don’t know I’m not very mechanically inclined. You probably know more than me. Have you seen when they put turbos on a bike? They actually did it. I don’t know if you would want to do that though…
Lots of turbos on street bikes, especially drag bikes. Haven’t seen anyone put one on a dirtbike. Too heavy, bulky. Maybe a small nitrous bottle just for the starts might be interesting.
Brilliant and well done for an epic effort.. those 450 s must have hated that 230 going past. So inspired went out and got a 230 f which in the uk is hard to find but totally agree with your sentiment …get the next vids up 👍
I really like the smoothness of your riding, SO key at GH!! The last time I did the World Vets was in '07, on a CRF "280", 45+ Novice...Pushed way too hard, way too early, crashed my brains out on Saturday, i was done! Now that I'm almost 63, really want to give it another go! Great Video!! Great Ride!!
My return to racing after 20+ years was the slow and easy process. The long slow buildup. If you do return to racing take it slow. Thanks for watching.
Nice!!! Old bike,Broken shock, possibly underpowered compared to the newer bikes and you snatched a 3rd place finish! Far and above what i thought you would get..i figured somewhere between 5th and 10th place is where you would end up...3rd!!! Haha! Nice work!
From east coast started riding Hare Scrambles after a 38 year hiatus away from dirt bikes age 72 now won my class over 70 first time out . Would love to come to California to motocross , do they have a class for over 70's . Also would need to borrow a vintage bike for the race . My 2021 FE 350 husky and 200rr beta could not be raced in vintage . You don't know how bad I would love to race motocross again , but don't want to race against spring chicken 60 year old's . Racing with no rebound damping , great job does show how little rebound is needed to stop pogo action . Your not crazy you are making it fit you.
Great video, I like that you’re still rocking this bike. If you end up looking for alternatives in your shock the vonkat seemed to fare pretty well with Torture Test Magazine.
Novice means novice here. There are no beginner classes here. Yes I’ve raced before, always novice, I did race a local intermediate race back in 1989, then stopped racing for 20 years, I’ve never been sponsored, never owned a new bike. Thanks for watching.
Joker right. He's on a 240cc w/two valves, less travel, short wheelbase and his starts and approach is not aggressive. Did you see him Huck jumps or something...no. Steady Eddy whilst the others fade.
That’s Awesome Tom! Congratulations! Hope to do that someday!
Great job Tom! no serious mishaps and the bike seemed to finish unscathed despite the pogo stick!
Cool stuff. Brings back memories of the 70's
WOOHOOO! That was AWESOME and congratulations! Ride safe…🏍🏍🏍👏🏻🙌🤘🏻🤙🏻
Great job Tom look forward to next video.
Hey Jim thanks! how you been lately?
Been doing fine I see you been busy is fixing your shocks next video.
@@jimbingham99 Yep I’ll be busy with Shock therapy.
Still Better than a blown motor or broken ankle!
Respect.
Respect from France !
You did it great, even with an unhelpfull bike !
May be she likes to be fitted with a real shock absorbers ! 😉✌

Very good
Enjoyed the race
Congrats, man!!! Great job!
Love it dude!! Awesome job!!! I would've done the same as you....here now, run it!!! 230 is getting it!!!!
Would love to see more races on this bike, and if possible more power out of it.
Suggestions for power? I’m open, within reason.

Yes Vonkat is a great shock.
Don't care where you finish! If you come in dead last , your still a hero!
👍👌🤘
Excellent job maintaining the pogo stick. The track look epic. Not bad for an old fart. 😉
It was! Best track in California.
Time to spin a couple laps there on your Katoom.
I actually won the 60+ Novice At worldvet #241
I know you did! Awesome dude!!! You smoked us! How did you do in moto #1? Were you on first gate?
So looks like 14th overall. Not bad for an old trail bike.
how much hp, whats top speed??
Haven’t had it on a dyno. Estimated 25-27hp.
Speed? Depends on gearing.
What's the brand of that "pogo stick"?🤭
I’ll be revealing the name of the failed shock’s company name in the next video, depending on how they treat me. That should not have happened.

Looks like you are sandbagging. Have you raced Intermendiate before?

I think you can save a couple more lbs. with an Austrian air fork...
🤔. Hmm…have not seen that tried yet. Interesting.
