    Knowing what’s under the hood because you have taken it apart and put it back together is a unique feeling that many will never know. Imagine not knowing how to change a tire or the oil? I helped a guy with a truck that was over heating. I asked if he had checked the radiator? His reply, “ What’s a radiator?” I felt sorry for him.

      Amazing isn’t it? I had what we called “shop class” in my high school. Those days are gone I’m afraid.

    Your videos are heroic 😂 so I got a 2004 FTR223 JDM import to UK as a donor bike, the engine is going in my 1981 XR200R, which is 4 kilos lighter than a stock crf230, nearly 10 kilos lighter than the FTR, the FTR engine is slightly more powerful from stock, and, all the CRF parts fit, I got a Athena 240 cylinder and piston kit, Psychic Valves, BBR cam, Wossner Conrod, WRP crank bearings and a Pro com CDI, thanks to yourself I now have a XR250 carb and just ordered a CRF150 Flywheel, all I need now is a set of rims spokes rim tape tubes and tyres and some powder coating, oh and I also got a alloy swing arm from a XR250 (needs machine/engineer works to fit the width of the 200 pivot mount) already have Maier mudguards and a vintage UFO headlight and LED indicators (it will be road legal) , ah 😂 and I have a 1986 CR125 front end and billet yokes, and a gps Speedo and digital tachometer...shock is a XR250 YSS from Thailand, fully adjustable......anyhows...
    thanks Mister, and thanks for being that genuine ex psychiatric worker, I met a few in my youth, a few, but very gracious people.

      I see you are demented as myself. Sounds like a fun project. Your parts choices are good, I’ve heard the Athena kit is very good, though not sure about the BBR cam, I’ve heard they are not that good. Check out Gabe’s 230 racing exploits on Torture Test Magazine TH-cam, he’s young and hilarious.
      Good luck cheers and Thanks for watching.

      @@lowbuckgarage1 hi !! Okay thanks! 🙏🏻
      Yeh I've heard one side and another about the BBR cam, but it's on CRFSONLY site ,, my exhaust front pipe is also non stock, I had a stainless larger bore pipe made rather than a power bomb one...anyways thanks 👍🏻👍🏻

    Watching your skills as you removed the bolt and tapped a new thread , well done 👍🏼 . At the end of the video with the power of the hop ups you had done , I think you succeeded to getting the bike to breath better . Nice if there was a 270 cc kit for the bike .

    • @lowbuckgarage1

      Thanks 👍 going beyond 240cc requires a stroker crank, or bigger cylinder sleeve and boring the cases which is pretty pricey and gobs more work.
      A little more dialing in should make it rip.

    in Indonesia this motorbike engine is in great demand by young people to be extreme modified in its engine parts, the 2 valve SOHC engine is marketed in Indonesia under the brands "Honda Tiger" and "Honda GL-Pro" and the machine is tuned for the needs of illegal racing and official racing events . The potential of these simple engine can be tuned more than 50 for daily use or even more than 60 horsepower for illegal drag race. in my city it's common if the crf 230f engine can get 32hp with only cam, cheap china carburetor and exhaust modifications at a cost of less than $300.

    • @lowbuckgarage1
      @lowbuckgarage1  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s very interesting. In the USA the 2 valve sohc 230 is looked down upon somewhat, as old inferior technology, compared to modern 4 and 5 valve cylinder heads with fuel injection and computer chips, but so are old 426 Hemi engines, yet people continue to modify and drag race them to this very day.
      Thanks for watching.

    At this point, buying a 95-01 cr250r wouldve been cheaper, far better riding, and more competative for you. I love the videos and all the care youve put into that bike, youre crazy. 😜

    • @lowbuckgarage1
      @lowbuckgarage1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could be right on the first part. And I think that’s next on the agenda. Finding a clean 2010-ish CR, YZ, kx….2-stroke 250 to modify. On the second part you’re definitely right - I’m crazy.

      @@lowbuckgarage1 I love to ride on the weekends and i have a 2000 cr250r that i ride/ race. Basically stock internals and its competative enough at the novice/ intermediate level. Will be fun to watch another bike build from you. Id recommend staying away from the 02-07 cr250s as i have one of those too, and its a turd compared to my 2000.(both are restored/ excellent working order)

    Love your work on the 230; great bike that doesn't need a lot of attention. In one of your videos you had Gold Valves in your stock forks, then you went with the 150R forks, do you still have the Gold Valves? I'd be interested in them for my bike, if you did. Regardless, love this work. Subscribed.

      Thanks. I sold the stock forks with the gold valves installed to some lucky chap to help finance purchase of the 150R forks. The gold valves were really great but no comparison to the 150R forks for racing purposes.

      In order of most easy/cost effective:
      Exhaust(system or remove baffle)
      Intake: (remove top snorkel, open up airbox +performance filter)
      Carb: (accurate jetting/adjustment, or larger pumper carb)
      Performance CDI box.
      Good luck!
      For even more,
      But Not so easy/cost effective:
      Big bore kit.
      Bigger cam.
      Bigger intake valve
      Cylinder porting.
