Today, we celebrate Epiphany Day 🌟✨, and in this spirit, I present Johann Pachelbel's 'Wie schön leuchtet der Morgenstern' (How Brightly Shines the Morning Star), Op. P.46. This piece, a jewel of the Baroque era, is a perfect musical accompaniment to this day of revelation. 🎶🎹
Johann Christoph Pachelbel 1653-1706 was a German Baroque composer. He worked as an organist in Vienna, Eisenach, Erfurt, Stuttgart, Gotha and from 1695 at the Sebalduskirche in Nuremberg, just a few kilometers from where I live.
Pachelbel's chorale prelude, published in 1693 and performed here, is an exquisite example of baroque organ music. Notably, the cantus firmus of this piece is played in the pedal voice, yielding a solid foundation and allowing for a rich interplay between the melody and the intricate accompaniments, creating a multi-layered auditory experience. 🎵👣
As we listen to this performance, the title 'Wie schön leuchtet der Morgenstern' echoes the Epiphany story, where the 'Morning Star' guides the Wise Men to Jesus. The music with its deep pedal tones and bright upper voices symbolizes the profound trust of the Three Kings on the one hand, and their heavenly guidance and the revelation of divine light on the other. 🌠👑

This organist obviously has much positive potential. Unfortunately he also has the tragic tendency to unconsciously drag his tempo down in a way that suggests an even more tragic reason: For years, my keyboard playing was sabotaged by undiagnosed (or inadequately diagnosed) immune-related candida-yeast-induced, crippling inflammatory arthritis, which at times almost paralyzed my hands and fingers. It took nearly twenty years to find ways to heal me of almost all of it. I seriously recommend (and I promise the organist I intend ABSOLUTELY NO offense!) that he consult a professional rheumatologist and a neurologist to determine whether or not he is truly free of any variety of arthritis or of carpal tunnel syndrome. His unintentional compulsive ritardando throughout much of the piece is not one of deliberate intent and suggests instead a cumulative, insidious but hopefully treatable neuromuscular disability that could bring his otherwise promising career to an untimely end. Continued Best of Good Fortune staying healthy and enjoying a long performing career!

Sehr schön gespielt. 👍Ich selbst habe die Concerto 234. Lohnen sich die Zusatzlautsprecher (auch wenn man keine Aufnahmen macht)? Wie blättern Sie die Noten am iPad um? Was wird hierfür benötigt?
Vielen Dank! Ich habe insgesamt 4 Lautsprecher plus noch einen Subwoofer. Das bringt schon etwas für das Raumgefühl, wenngleich die interne Abstrahlung der Concerto schon ganz gut ist. Der Vorteil meines Setups ist aber, dass ich über die externe Abstrahlung den Hall anders (und wie ich finde besser) prozessieren kann. Daran hapert es nämlich bei der internen Lösung. Für die Noten Darstellung verwende ich ein Onyx Boox Lumi2 Tablet mit e-Ink. Als Software MobileSheetsPro. Und zum Blättern den Airturn Bite Switch. Damit kann man durch Beißen umblättern. Ab und zu sieht man mir in einem ungünstigen Winkel das Ding aus dem Mund hängen 😂
