Herr Jesu Christ, mein Lebenslicht | G. A. Sorge (1703-1778)

Georg Andreas #Sorge (* March 21, 1703 in Mellenbach; + April 4, 1778 in Lobenstein) was a German #organist, composer, and music theorist.
His chorale prelude to "Herr Jesu Christ, mein #Lebenslicht" is a delightful piece. The introduction is performed in two voices on the accompaniment manual. With the onset of the cantus firmus, the accompaniment turns to single-voice again. The texture of the piece is therefore quasi-trio-like. With few resources, Sorge creates a piece that sticks in the memory.
Lord Jesus Christ, my Life, my Light,
My #Strength by day, my #Trust by night,
On earth I'm but a #passing guest
And sorely with my sins oppressed.
Since Thou hast died, the #Pure, the #Just.
I take my homeward way in trust.
