I just picked one of these outside meant for the garbage or recycling. The cosmetic quality is insane! It looks like new but the rams have been removed. The led indicator blinks when i press the power button possibly due to the fact that it has no ram presence. I will be getting some ram off eBay and throw that in to see if i get something on the display. Hopefully, there's no display problems then I'll replace the hdd with an ssd. I intend to install Linux on it for programming. It's very beautiful.

Best iMac is the 2006 iMac's sucessor: the Mid 2007 iMac, its capable of running macOS Sonoma with an T9500 chip!
I had iMac 2008 and it was good, although on MacOS it was.. Weak. I regret selling it not trying out linux on that machine. I have a review of it btw
@@OleksiisTech i use my mid 2007 iMac as main computer, it turns out to be inofficially supported to run Monterey on it. had to upgrade it to max specs, but i regret it since it always causes an kernel panic while opening some apps. the graphics get glitchy sometimes

i sadly was unfortunate enough to get a bad kingston ssd, i discovered this one day when i tried compressing some files only to have the controller go into safe mode ""s11"" the other Kingston a400 i own has never had this issue but the bad one has had to be reflashed 5 times and now lives as a untrusted drive for my server
The 16gb "extra" could be provisioning space that the original firmware from Kingston hided from the user (for provisioning purpose), and your firmware reduce/disable such provisioning. It likely would still be usable spaces.
Regular kobold now has native compatibility! ( Using the NOCUDA version ) I was having issues with the forked version for amd gpus, But when i tried the original one it just.. Worked, Altho i did needed to chose the "Vulkan NoAVX2 (Old CPU)" Because of my silly ahh processor, But still, I had 21 t/s (Wich basically gave me texts in real time)
Interesting, what GPU do you have? I also experience problems with ROCm fork now, it just can’t run some models, which older versions can.
@@OleksiisTech I have a rx 7600 with an i5 2500 (Yea, Pretty old cpu) Thats why i needed the "NoAVX2 (Old CPU)" But i still have text in real time so... I doesn't really matter, As it looks like that the cpu is barelly being used.

SSD-pocket isn't that far off. in the US it's usually called an "SSD Enclosure" but it isn't an enclosure it's an adapter since there's no shell to protect it oop

In Russian biological laboratories, we came to the conclusion that you can put a nozzle on that "Kingston screw", hit it a couple of times, and calmly unscrew it Or use a flat nozzle
Russian laboratories missed a couple of important things: 1. No one asked; 2. No one was interested in peaceful unscrewing since I wouldn’t need the case; 3. You can’t just use flat nozzle, I advise Russian laboratories to buy better equipment to look more attentively on the screw and notice the dot in the middle of the screw that blocks any other nozzles.
@@OleksiisTech I have experience with Security Torx. The pin is actually helpful, you wedge a watchmaker's flat blade in right alongside it and it will touch down on a spline allowing you to turn it. Either it comes out, or the pin breaks, turning it into a normal Torx screw. But being a degenerate capitalist, I bought all the specialised driver bits though.

The thumbnail threw me off because i thought making a custom SSD meant just like painting it or putting sticker on it. I didnt realise you meant that you were making A WHOLE SSD FROM SCRATCH!. The additional 16 GB could come from the over-provisioning.
I think it's just because of firmware. I wouldn't risk testing if they are real since my usb-ssd enclosure died :D

Windows 11 background on the latest Mac OS on and old iMac from 2008 is so fucking cursed
There's actually a lot of ways you can optimize this setup. An SSD and a RAM upgrade let you easily run the latest macOS so it'll do most tasks on its own. I've used mine a lot for 1080p video editing, it does it just fine.
You probably mistake it with newer model. It's speed limit is sata 2, which is twice more then it's HDD ofc, but still I don't think it's enough for latest mac os. It's MAX Ram support is 6 (4+2 DDR2! modules) and it has FirePro Gpu with 256mb of VRAM, which is only enough for 720p stable video on TH-cam.
@@OleksiisTech I guess our definitions of "usable" differ. Having suffered for years with a super low end Core 2 Duo 2GB RAM Dell, I have a lot of patience for low end PCs. But yeah realistically they are quite dated considering that a very basic Ryzen 3 PC does 4k editing no problem and handles any task without a stutter.

Great video! but I think repourposing the ipad's original frame and back and planting the HDMI board inside would be a great way to do it for someone (Like me) who has no 3d Printer, do you see that as a possibility?
I considered that possibility, but found it not good Idea beacuse: 1. Very hard since iPad's aluminium case need to be modded with additional holes for big ammount of new ports. Also you need instruments for that. 2. It's thin, so I am not sure the board will fit. 3. It has wide frame and home button, which isn't cool aesthetically. So unfortunately I don't know what is the best way for you to make a litterally just box for this thing, but since the very begining I had same thought - to make it in iPad's case.

My first iPhone in March 2019 was the 6s 32GB. I used it nearly 5 years until january 2024. Now I bought a iPhone 13 red 128GB and I plan to use it 6 years or even 7 years.
I used Honor 9 Lite for arround 5 years and baught myself iPhone 11 only for a better video quality for this channel. (for surfing I always have my iPad 8 so never needed a phone for that)
