Why you need to try this: Top 6 Reason To Go Paddle Boarding (SUP)
I've seen all the great lakes but Superior is by far the most beautiful. I once drove around the whole northern shore of Lake Superior in fall when the leaves were at peak color. I've driven to Alaska and back twice and I've been all over the United States and Canada and Lake Superior is as good as it gets!
What an endorsement. I fully agree that Lake Superior is special! I was also there this fall and the colours were spectacular!
What a cool place to visit! Thanks for interesting information 🫶
It really is a wild place to paddle! Thanks for watching!
I'm from Kitchener and I've done this road trip twice. I started laughing when you mentioned the lack of gas stations LOL, I gave this same warning to those I recommended this road trip. However, you forgot to mention no cell phone signal, I had no signal for maybe 400 kms. I plan on doing this again maybe in the spring, stay in Thunder Bay one night then head over to Winnipeg.
It’s a great road trip! I went to school in TBay and usually go every summer so I’ve done it a lot. Great point on cell reception! It is definitely in and out. Have fun going back this spring!
Been there, done that.
Isn't it an awesome road trip?! Northern shores of Lake Superior is my favourite!
Very interesting paddle!! Thanks for taking us along!!
Thanks for coming along! Mono Lake is WILD! Such a different experience than anything else.
Awesome!! wish I could go there some day... 🙏For now my most favorite place is De Weerribben- Wieden Netherlands. Close to home. Completely different from what you are used to I think 😊 Way smaller and without any mountains, but def beautiful in it's own unique way ❤
Thanks for watching. Mono Lake is pretty special and very unique! I just looked up De Weerribben- Wieden in the Netherlands and it looks beautiful! What type of wildlife would you see there? Looks very similar to my local spot here in Hamilton, Ontario 🇨🇦 where there is a ton of wildlife like beavers, foxes, deer, mink and loads of birds!
@@PaddleAdventurer awesome! We do have beavers in the Netherlands, but mostly in another area (de Biesbosch). In de Weerribben- Wieden there are otters 😍, deer, foxes, lots of different birds, etc. Haven't seen them yet irl, but.. I did once see a kingfisher who suddenly flew by .. soooooo blue! Really hope to see some beavers and/or otters someday. Hoping for it everytime I'm on the water. Maybe I should start wearing a hat like yours! That will probably help.. 😂LOL!!
Amazing! I love seeing wildlife out exploring, especially on the water! 🦫 I hope you get to too! A fun hat might just help 😆 On my list is seeing a moose munching in the water. Only ever seen them close to or on a road.
Great content! Found out about your channel from Amanda @TidelinetoAlpine.
Thanks so much for watching and reaching out!
Weird cool paddle!
Those tufas sneaking up on you and the super salty water was out of this world creepy and cool!
What is on your paddling bucket list? 🪣📋
What's the most unique place you've paddled?🪐
Cool Paddle!!
Thanks for watching! Mono Lake was something else. What a unique place to paddle 🙌🏼🪐
Padding in a unique environment. It's cool👏🏻
It was the most wild and unique place! Thanks for watching!
I see you got a new paddle board and what kind of paddleboard did you buy and what are the details on it like how long is it? You know what model is it all that stuff?
I'm a Red Paddle Co ambassador so I have a few different ones but theses are my brother and sister-in-law's boards. They have the Red Voyager 13'2 and the Red Compact 11'
I see you found yourself a man!! Happy for you So what presents do you don’t want to paddle around the lake full of salt lol
That's my brother, Andrew. Check out my last video on Lake Tahoe. th-cam.com/video/nisKuD1L7lQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=o91Rr2_qRPjbmzoA The one in the kayak is my partner, Tony. It's a super unique place to explore! I love adventuring new and amazing places.
What do you do if it’s cold outside and doesn’t roll very well?
Great question! iSUP PVC does get a lot harder to roll in the cold. This is especially tricky for winter paddling. When it's cold and icy I tend to fold as best as possible in order to get it in my trunk and transport it home. It doesn't always look pretty but it doesn't need to. From there it's easier to properly roll and put away once inside where it's warmer. You could also pack an insulated bottle/jug with warm water to pour over the board but you'd have to work quickly before the water freezes.
This doesn't have to do with cleaning, but Could I transport inflated paddleboards in a truck with a ratchet strap to hold them down? Or will the racthet strap mess up or indent the boards?
Great question! You should be okay depending on the quality of your boards, the distance you're going and how you strap them down. I've travelled a few hours with two inflatable Red boards on the roof of my car with no issues. If you don't have roof racks I'd recommend getting them as flat as possible against the bed of the truck or at the side so they have some flat support. Make sure the boards are pumped to the proper paddling PSI so they are firm. You might see some indents on the deck pads which should eventually come out. Or depending on the boards sizes and how they fit together you can face the deck pads towards each other so the straps only touch the PVC. Don't leave them strap tightly when you aren't travelling to help prevent any indents. Keep in mind rocks from the road or the sun if you have prolonged travel could damage the boards. A cover would help prevent this. I have this VAMO one and it's great collabs.shop/rnduay Hope this helps!
Yeeeeeeeeah'ya!!!!!
Bucket list paddle!
Marybeth, you were made for that kayak! 🙂
Thanks, Gary! Another kayak expedition in the editing line so keep an eye out this winter!
I love this video.
Thanks for all the support, Gary!
Black beach in silver bay MN is amazing
Thanks for the tip! I’ll have to check it out. I’ve actually only ever been to areas on Lake Superior on the Canadian side.
Thank you again as a former Floridian now returned for good. This just peaked my curiosity. I am now ready to find that river and shoot some footage myself.
Thanks for watching and for the kind comment. It’s a beautiful park! Highly recommended. Have fun when you go. And say hi to the gators. 🐊🫣😆 I’ve since paddled with a bunch more in Florida!
My biggest fear would be falling in that specific area of water...that's where most of torontos pollution and waste goes....but definitely a nice view.
Thanks for watching! Lake Ontario around the Toronto Islands? I wouldn't say it's any worse than most water near a major city plus there is lots of wildlife living in and around that area. It is an incredible view of the city skyline but as for going in the water, to each their own. Have you heard of Swim Drink Fish? They do lots of great stuff one of which is testing the water. www.swimdrinkfish.ca/
Absolutely gorgeous - love the video! Also kudos to Andrew to hauling that flotsam back!
What an awesome weekend together! 😆 Right?! The dedication. 👏🏼
Incredible!! Thank you for sharing! 😊
Thanks for watching! It was an amazing weekend and Lake Tahoe is such a beautiful area!
I want to go to Tahoe!
Highly recommended! 🙌🏼🏔️💙
Stunning!!! Wish I was there!
We had an awesome time. Isn't it a beautiful area? Check out the full adventure video here th-cam.com/video/nisKuD1L7lQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=nSdqEk8-A9HaIyHI
Stunning! What an adventure!
Views for days! Such an epic weekend!
Auh...... wonderful! Lake Tahoe!, the high Sierras! And paddle boards!!!, pine trees, and friends!!!! So nice to watch while the PNW experiences an atmosphere river event. Thanks for sharing! Epic!!
Thanks for watching! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Paddle boarding Lake Tahoe was so super awesome! The water clarity and colour is next level 🤩
Epic 🔥 what a beautiful place!
It's an incredible place to paddle!
The apparatus was originally designed for individuals learning to swim, swimmers prone to cramping, and scuba divers. It is compact and does not hinder diving or swimming activities. Shukor, M.Y. 1998. Aquatic lifesaving or support apparatus. Malaysian filing no PI98001975. Filed 04/05/1998
Thanks for your comment and insight. I don't know the full history of inflatable waist belts but I suspect they were invented for emergency situations like this one for paddling and the ones on airplanes.
Wow - that’s the word! 🤩
It was an awesome sunset. I wasn't expecting it to pop like that!
Great job!!!! 👏 🎊
It was a great day helping Mike achieve the first of his Great Lake's crossings.
Marybeth your so inspiring! Thanks for sharing. 🙂
Thanks for watching this video too, Gary! And thank you for the kind words; I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I live on Lake Superior. It’s cold as fuck all year round lol
😆 I love swimming in it in the summer months. I even went for a dip in October! It was gorgeous this year.
Soft
@@PaddleAdventurer :0 girl you crazy
@@mackeerererallll6 You're lucky to live on such an incredible lake!
WOW 😍❤
It was magical! And you know the camera doesn’t totally capture the full beauty of it.
Cool colours, fun video 😁
Thanks! Hard to beat Ontario fall views
Thanks for this Marybeth. Great overview. From personal experience, if going for a drysuit, it is worth spending a bit more on the version that has a front (male) or back (female) zipper. It is such a pain to have to pull the whole thing off for relieve yourself. I paddled for years with a cheaper suit and even avoided drinking to prevent the inevitable. Also make sure, when buying a drysuit, that you can bend your knees (when burping) without putting strain on the seams. Slightly too long for you is perfect. Stress on the seams will lead to failure within a few years. Expensive mistake. Awesome vid. Thanks again.
Thanks for the kind and helpful comment! I agree with the front or drop zipper, although I still struggle using it when going to the bathroom 😅

And you will never get eaten by a shark hahaha
lol exactly! ❌🦈
one year maybe 2019 it was way to hot for me to do anything so i would just sit by the lake and jump in a bunch. its too cold for me to just sit in, but its nice when its almost 100 degrees and you just get that rush that feels so good when you get out of the water.
Love that! Sounds like a beautiful summer with refreshing swims!
Quick question. Have you ever tried to put it on with a bit of swell and wind? If you mange to get it on you will find that it will just pop back off over your head or could actually drown you!
This is a great point and I would suspect that a company like Mustang Survival would not make something that isn't going to help you and give you a chance of surviving an unfortunate situation. When testing this model it was extremely secure around my head without using and tying the extra straps.
Love it… I always do paddle boarding together with my 4 year old son and it always release my bodily and mental tension.. ❤❤❤
I love that you also get to have quality time on the water with your 4 yr old!
❤👍
🤙🏼🍁
Marybeth i love your passion. You made this trip so much fun.
Thanks for watching and for the kind words, Gary!
