Always such great content and an important message about staying safe on the water. Paddling the Great Lakes is so much fun but definitely needs to be respected. Paddlers, always wear your PFD.
Thank you for posting this video. I have seen some terrible things due to people not wearing PFDs. Also...waders without PFDs = sink to the bottom. Sad.
Thanks for watching and for your comment. I'm not an officer of the law so I can't comment about being on shore and getting a ticket or not. However, based on the conversation I had with Constable Gordon, I believe if they see you breaking the law they can give you a ticket once you're back on land. Or of course, a Marine unit can ticket you. You're right that in Canada, legally you aren't required to wear a PFD but have one with you. If that's the case you are also required to have a buoyant heaving line. If it's an inflatable PFD you have to be wearing it. See my other video on legal requirements for paddle boarding and other recommended safety gear: th-cam.com/video/8fKEK_1eQWg/w-d-xo.html Keep in mind there are additional items you need if you are paddling or controlling another vessel other than a paddle board. The important part is being safe and knowledgeable about the water conditions so you can have fun and enjoy the adventure!
In my 12+ years of SUP LOVE, I get on the water WITH my PFD every time. I was ticketed 4 yrs. ago, at my local lake. The charge was reduced to a warning. Fair enough, especially after meeting a boater who got a $300+ fine for *not having his PFD on, within prescribed (800 feet) distance of a hydro dam. I WILL CARRY PFD religiously. I will wear it when I should: Where it's a posted law, and in fast-current river conditions. My sea-legs are as good or better than my land-legs, like a youth at 68😌

Thanks so much, Jordan-na! Agreed. The Great Lakes are beautiful but powerful!

Yine çok sempatiksin 😊 her zaman can güvenliği önde olmalı
Absolutely! Water safety is important 👌🏼
Once your onshore they can't ticket you. They have to catch you on the water. Unless they are 12 or under life jackets aren't required to be worn
