Excellent, crystal clear instruction and well demonstrated. A SUPer paddleboard safety video! Happy to see this as an on-water safety advocate myself (though mostly on the dark side, e.g. kayaking 🙂). Also some really nice camera work - kudos to the paparazzi in the background, I assume 🙂
Thanks so much, Patrik! It's an important technique to learn and also a fun one to practice! 🙌🏼 Lucky to have Tony behind the camera and drone for this one 👏🏼📸🦅🎥
Seeing you make "mistakes" makes it easier to understand all the things that can go wrong and a really good visual reminder of how to avoid them. Thank you for this!
Thanks for watching and commenting! I'm glad it was helpful. I tried to cover as many problems/mistakes as possible but real life situations won't look as calm and you can't plan for everything.
Can you do one surviving a sinking inflatable paddle board in a river? This happened to us yesterday luckily we were able to reinflate every few miles on very tiny amounts of beach But one time we had to do it in the water while standing on the board It was life or death
This is a very scary situation especially if you're alone or far away from shore. It sounds like you handled the situation well and I'm glad you're okay! Your other option would be to add the extra person whose board is leaking to another person's board or pull over to the shore and call for help if you are unable to hike back to your launch point or it's an emergency. If you're in the backcountry it's important to bring a pump and repair kit but you do need time for the patch to seal and dry. The best thing to do is prevent the situation all together. It's important to inspect and test your gear regularly (not just your board). I know it's not always possible but buying a high quality board you can trust. Other options would be to always stay close to the launch spot and make sure you're with friends.
@@PaddleAdventurer ya we were in backcountry and rented it. We tested it the day before already and it was fine The second day going far down past any shore line it happened during the paddle idk how

@freyafoxmusic tricky situation! What did the rental company say?
they apologized and refunded everything and said its very rare for this to happen and it was an older board (NRS 10.8@@PaddleAdventurer
@freyafoxmusic that’s good to hear but a scary situation that hopefully never happens again. 🫶🏼
