Just ordered the IK foam pro 2, and these slime valve stems. Cant wait to try it. Thanks phil!
That’s exactly what I want, I also believe in freedom, no debt and being able to enjoy what you do and enjoy life. God bless!
Quality of life tip: Lube the valve stem with some dish soap when installing it.
👀
Only for the people who get it
What are ya coating the glass with homie? Thanks for the information
I'm always afraid of those kind of self made alterations, but man do i want a valve on my Marolex sprayer, pumpin' is kinda lame... Thank you! Oh and Marolex is from my homeland - GO POLAND! It's the best sprayer in the world and i tested a lot..
Question: I know the basics but my outcome still isn’t good. Should I drop a couple bucks for a class? Or just spend the time in the garage practicing on a good from the junk yard?
GURL. That tool costs $1000. I’ll be trying a wet washcloth and a hairdryer, brb.
Yes indeed! For professional detailers it’s a Lifesaver! But for people who don’t run a detailing business you may have to find alternative ways to clean candy like that. Actually an old iron set on steam and place a towel over the candy and steam it with the iron. Should get the same effect.
genius thank you! My lawn sprayer is getting this modification too!
Can’t watch this video bro, your eyes are too reptilian man I can’t do it
I think he knew absolutely that your original estimate was for the exterior only then when he came to pick it up. He figured he could get upset and you would cave in and do the interior for free. I hate to say it but there are a lot of people out there who do these kind of things. Since you stated he was driving a BMW I have to comment on that old saying. What is the difference between a porcupine and a BMW? On a BMW the prick is on the inside. I worked in retail sales for many years and you would be surprised at how many people try to browbeat or threaten you into giving them something for free. I now run a little shop out of my place where I work on musical instruments. Every single customer gets a free estimate that is written and they have to sign that before I will work on their instruments. The estimate is detailed and states exactly what is and what is not included. There's also a clause in there that says if I run into anything else in the course of working on the instrument that may prevent me from completing the work without incurring an additional charge I will contact them and get their permission. If they do not wish to pay the additional charge the instrument will be returned to them in the same condition as it was dropped off to me. Sometimes it's extra work on my part when a customer refuses to pay the extra charge and I have to basically put the instrument back into condition to give back to them but I'd rather have to put in a little bit more of my time just to prevent somebody coming back and trying to bite me in the ass later. There have also been times where someone brought me their instrument and in the course of talking to them I just didn't get a good vibe or I knew ahead of time that the instrument wasn't going to be able to be fixed without additional work being done and I just didn't have a good feeling about them in general so I politely bowed out of doing the work again sometimes it's better to turn work away than With having to deal with someone that you know is going to cause you grief.
How long does the sprayer work between re pressurising
I have the Axel 3000 foamer. I used the 7/16-bit, dish soap and channel locks with no issue. The only issue I'm having is the pressure relief valve does not activate?? I filled it with water to the 2250 line. I put 45 psi and stopped because I'm afraid that it may blow up!! Could the relief valve be defective? Even by pumping it, the valve doesn't open.
Exactly. It blowed up to me with less than 50 psi and it was very dangerous
Just for those researching here, always test your pressure relief valve with the hand pump before modifying. Usually the hand pump will stop pumping when it's near max pressure. If you do the valve stem mod, hand pump it until it gets very hard to pump & test the pressure at the valve stem with a tire pressure guage. Use a guage when adding air with a compressor. The fact that anyone actually had a sprayer burst before the seal gave out is pretty strange & shows the quality of the sprayer materials.
The tire valve is different than the schrader valve.
I drilled and tapped mine and I have a screw-in Shrader valve. I also used a bunch of superglue on the threads to make sure it doesn't come out. The valves you used looks a lot easier to install than what I did. Plus you don't need the NPT thread tap. I keep it going with a small battery powered tire pump. I see iK sprayers have an airpump now, also.
which tire pump?
spit or get some other type of slippery stuff on the valve stem first and it will pop right in. even a little soap. i'd like to have it set up to where i can just hook my compressor to the sprayer, carry it around and spray spray spray without stopping, unhook and bleed the air out, etc. that way i'm not always filling my pancake compressor for 30psi of air
Love your vids, did you take a microfiber and wipe it down afterwards ?
just so you know they make those schraer valves in a shorter stem length. same size entry hole.
Cool! I haven’t seen them. I’ll have to search for them. Thanks
Do you have a link? I was looking for shorter ones & haven’t found any?
Would you pls advise on what’s the busiest days for a mobile detailer? Do I need to be avail on Fri and sat to detail or is Monday - Thursday better days to book clients? Long time viewer , subscriber on both channels needing advice, keep up the great content
Hi. Sorry for the delay. Not exactly what you mean about the busiest days for detailing. It doesn’t work that way. Getting customers really depends on many factors. If you have a good website that is optimized to gain views and clicks. Posting on social media helps a lot also to gain customers. It takes a while to truly build your business to where you’re just on a regular basis.
Is it a good idea to do this hack on a bottle without a pressure relief valve? Isn't there a danger of over-pressurisation and explosion if one over-pressurises the bottle?
Correction: meant to say DON'T do this on a bottle without a pressure relief valve.
Hi yes. Very true. I wouldn’t install on cheaper bottle sprayers that don’t have a pressure valve.
@@thedetailingworkshop2689 I've just converted one of my (regulated) bottles and it works like a charm! What a brilliant idea, kudos to you Sir!
Look at the max psi and don't exceed that. Might be good to print a label with the max psi and stick it on the bottle.
You can. However these spray bottles have a release valve. I just fill it until the valve releases. It’s full and need exceeded the max. If it doesn’t have a release valve then yes, a label is good.
Can’t tell what you doing. Terrible video. Cannot see any oxidization👎
Thanks bro
Awesome hack, i was wondering once filled with air to maximum if you can have enough pressure foam a car down without going to hand pumping?
Hi. That really depends on the size of sprayer itself. Usually these small ones will do about half the vehicle.
Cool trick, thank you! 🙂
Thanks for watching! 😎👍🏼
What about clear coating the wheels after polishing? 🙂
Oh yeah the customer can totally do that if they wanted. But that means bringing them to a shop or wheel specialist to clear coat them.
Definitely will do this. Great video!
Thanks!
My "old faithful" would be the Meguiar's Ultimate Compound + Ultimat Polish. I have a very similar menu. Option 1 - Wash + Wax I'll typically wash, clay, and use something like Meguiar's M06 Cleaner Wax, or 3D Speed. Option 2 - Polishing and Protection This one will be a "one stage" polishing service followed by a wax, sealant, lite or full coating. Option 3 - Correction + Protection. Here is where I'll bring out the heavy artillery, follow with a finishing polish and protection.
No! Do whatever you have to, just about any length to keep safe from scammers.
Thanks Phil for your DIY install .
Do the same thing with tubeless bicycle tires lol
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🙌🏼🤝
Very informative, thank you
Mind blown!
I'm not in the same field but this video can be used by anyone in a client/customer facing role. Thanks!
Exactly! Thanks! 😎👍🏼
Hi Miranda, has there been any long term issues with such a modification? Is this still something you would recommend?
Hi. I still use them to this day. Phone of them have failed.
What about your seat ? Does it work the same ?
Hi. Yes we use the same process to remove gum and candy for cloth seats. Works great!
@@MirandaDetailing thank you so much because my niece left a large pile of hard candy in my seat crevice and like I was struggling to get it out.
Bro this guys skill of explaining is top tier. Thx for this
Thanks
Where do you get that little steamer?
Hi. It’s the VX5000. steam-cleaners-direct.com
Great mod. Can you do this mod for a 5litre? I live in a flat and want to clean my TTS (It's a small car so can do the foam by pump but need more power for water..) Thanks!
Hi. Yes you can. If it’s plastic you can do this.
Do have any advice on wich website platform to use. I can't choose. I was going to use wix but people say it loads slow. I would know. Please help a brother out with advice...
Started off a year and a half ago rented a shop first year I probably did 10 to 15,000 a month, now I’m averaging 40,000 a month, just detailing cars, got a couple commercial accounts which is consistent money
Awesome!! I love hearing those stories!
This video right here is amazing! Such great advise no matter want business you may be in!
Thanks man
Would 3d speed or 3done work for this? Or maybe diy gold standard polish?
Hi. Actually any of those would work, I always do a test spot and see which works better on each vehicle.
Thank you for this great advice!
You’re welcome!
Excelent tips, you tell it like it is, thanks
Thanks!
a little soap on the valve where it meets the plastic...will pull thru much easier
Great tip! 😎👍🏼
I’ve seen this over the years when I worked at the dealership. These white single stage vehicles are ordered this way by a company called wheels that is a commercial lease company. These cars are used for parts delivery by Napa and Advance auto parts. I’ve seen Toyota corrolla’s,Pontiac matrix and Nissan sentra’s like this.
Hi. Yeah we have seen Toyota Sequoias, Camrys, Honda Odysseys, Accords, Civics, it’s annoying.
I’ve been dealing with that for 23 years Phil. I’m in the Audio Video Industry, both residential and commercial, and I get that in the residential field only. Clients are under the impression that because they’re spending high in the six figures for a smart home system that they can just add work that they did not pay for or that was not in the “scope of work”. I even had a client complain and threatened not to pay there final bill because my guys wouldn’t help the movers with the furniture. Moving furniture is not my job!! Documentation is key to CYA…🥴👍🏽 A signed document will save a lot of headaches. Keep up the grind brotha. I have a passion for detailing and I find myself watching your videos everyday! 👊🏽👍🏽🙏🏽
Thanks for sharing! It happens with every service based business I guess. 😎👍🏼
Get outta my head! How'd you know those swirls were killing me? ;)
A little soapy water will help it slip in and will bubble if its leaking.
Thanks! Excellent tip!
