I agree dear Phil... Sometimes detailers compare each other.....who masks more the cars......witch they end up look like ready for..... repaint...!!!!!! Yes for new detailers is always best practice to tape as much ,until they learn their polishes and compounds,...but not nessecery to any scenario
Out of an abundance of caution, I tape all plastic trims, since I’m still relatively new to polishing, 2 years. Getting better at it with the use of mini polishing techniques.

I definitely tape way less often now compared to when I started out. Use to tape everything. Now only certain parts
