    Will my comment stay after refreshing? Okay, since it does, I can say something. If not the 49ers, _this_ is the team I expect to take the NFC, not the Lions. Both HCs have problems in how they handle stress during games but Lafleur has gotten better at planning ahead. I heard a Packers fan speculate that they think he's good at the white-board planning, not so much communicating with players. But look how smooth the offense became in the last half of last season? Meanwhile the Lions seem determined to tweak Every Last Aspect Of Individuality Out of players before allowing them to touch the ball. What _IS_ Dan Campbell talking about regarding Jamo for instance? Jamo's highlights are insane. There's no excuse to not use him more yet Campbell is 'Becoming Pleased With His Progress.' _What_ progress? Throw him the _ball!_ Nothing _needs_ changing. So this is the stuff that makes me think the Lions are going to continue to self-destruct in important games, insisting on everything going Their Way to extent that they refuse to work with what they have.

    I take it you haven't seen the graphs comparing Lawrence's 1st 50 games to Dan Jones' & Gardner Minshew's? Minshew is the only one ahead of the other two in anything. The #2 depends on whether you consider that T-Law has had receivers to work with & if that's a factor. Yeah, this division can be a riot. If healthy I give the edge to the Colts. AR5 simply has too high a ceiling to think they won't win it if he's not injured. If he is, well, the Colts could have gotten Justin Fields for a lot less than what Flacco cost & didn't. That's no one's fault but theirs. Same with the Giants.

      I have seen the chart before, and I am aware of his past performances. He has thrown for 4,100 for the last 2 seasons and is capable of throwing 400 more yards in a given season. Granted, the passing TDs are generous, but that's the great thing about predictions, they are my educated guesses. If you don't think he's going to do it, great, but it's definitely possibly. I could make safe guesses for every team, but that would make for a boring video. I recognize it's possible he's a bust, so hopefully you can recognize that this prediction is also just as likely to happen. Thanks for the comment!

      @@StraightAMain Okay, just wondering aloud. I liked this & the way Yt works, comments help you out. There's a study in social psychology hidden in how we perceive them differently, but that barely interests me in *this* context. If/when I get to your breakdowns about Justin Fields whose highlights look better than Caleb Williams _AND_ Trevor Lawrence's I'll whine about how closely you stick to the popular consensus or not. Because _that_ (the consensus on Fields) is _TOTAL_ BS.

    • @StraightAMain

      That's fair! I'll probably focus on Russ more than Fields since he's the projected starter. But also, I do think Fields will end up with the job. Hopefully he gets the opportunity, I like the guy.

      @@StraightAMain Well, my take on the whole of what happened in CHI is one I know most people will hate, but I have reason for it. Remember the whole Mac Jones fiasco? Imagine if Bellichick had responded to finding out Jones was seeking advice outside of the Pats With Silence. We'd all know Jones' days were numbered, right? Fields *publicly called out his Own **_Coaches_** after week 7 in '22.* Know how they responded? with Dead Silence. So they were telling us as early as mid-'22 that they had already made up their minds to move on from Fields. They didn't even reprimand him? The HC wasn't the Least Bit Curious that one of his coaches was potentially responsible for messing up communications with the QB he is supposedly being tasked to win with, that his job supposedly depends upon working with? The owner didn't care that either his QB or coaches were throwing away his $? The GM whose entire career could be haunted by making the mistake of trading him didn't care at all that a mere coach he could have fired was setting his career up for failure? That implies they had made up their minds *from the beginning* to move on from Fields. One of those people was his Main Play-caller. We know this because 1) Eberflus boasted about deciding what plays to limit the offense to, 2) always talked about what He Thought Fields needed to change, 3) tried to shut up reporters for weeks with chop-wave motions of his hand like a Dad threatening to strike his own children when they kept asking him about those bizarre plays where Fields would stop himself throwing to wide-open receivers. Right from the beginning, even Fields' haters knew this was a coaching call. They said "The Bears _had to do this_ in order to simplify the offense for him." You know, because Fields can't read defenses. Everybody knows _that,_ right? th-cam.com/video/QuhUbISnr8s/w-d-xo.html. Oops. That's Brett Kollmann for you, doing the research no one else wants to. He traced the source of this to find out it was ever 100% BS _AND_ dug out the stats *proving it* was. So now there Is No Need to simplify the offense for Fields ergo no defense of those play-calls. However, there is a psychology at work here that I'm up against. Fans are more franchise than player-loyal. As soon as it was clear they wanted to move on from Fields, the fans all silently sided with The Team. Media too. Eberflus was acting like total nut-job, looking like he was Ready To Spank _reporters!_ Media dropped this. By the time Fields finally called them out about this it was already too late. Eberflus didn't understand this & sort of panicked. You know how when Gannon & Steichen left Philly, no other coach *could* come in & ask the players how to do what worked last season, just called the plays they knew instead? The Bears were using play-sets that were 70%+ different from weeks 8=-10 of '22 then again in week 11, & 14-17 of '23. So if the ones undermining Fields were largely Eberflus' the ones used those weeks were Getsy's. & with them, Fields led the entire NFL in offense 3 weeks straight (& scored more points than usual in the '23 games) proving it _was_ the play-calling holding him back all along. & everyone dismissed this as a fluke. So yeah. There's all that & more. & this is still about half the _overt_ stuff. Yeah, you'd have to dig to find these things but Fields did call them out publicly, Eberflus did act that way in front of reporters, the entire team greeted Fields' concern with Dead Silence. All of that indicates _something_ wasn't right between them.

    2nd video of yours I'm watching. I'm analytical, so don't wait for praise 🤭. I'm not sure why you think guessing how many yards, TDs etc. anyone is gonna have. In '22 Justin Fields threw for all of Five Fewer TDs than Jalen Hurts. One had the best o-line in the NFL & a top-3 WR duo. The other had Chase Claypool, a #1 WR famous for dropping passes that hit him in the hands & o-linesmen that actively ducked away from blocks. Absolutely _NO_ NFL fans or analysts seem to be capable of realizing that this makes Fields a _WAY_ better QB that would be putting up way more TDs if their positions were reversed. Like this guessing game of how many sacks etc. that being on a roster gains one has No Context or even real meaning. Is someone gonna come back & hold you accountable if you're of by any amount? The only context that matters is how they stack up against their opponents. My humble suggestion is that you look to find more such comparisons & not bother with the guessing. Derek Carr can throw as many TDs as C.. Stroud but I'll bet ya more of Stroud's will be ones that come from behind whereas Carr is much better when he doesn't have to.

      I'm sorry but I really can't understand the point of your comment, feel free to help clarify anything after I respond! I am going off a bell curve of the starters stats in the past 4 years, and I'm placing players and positions in each of those positions because the bell curve is a great analytical estimate of where players can place. The only downside is injuries are impossible to predict, so it does sway the results lower as a result. As for the rest of your analysis, I am writing my predictions down and comparing them after the season is done. If viewers wish to come back and say how well or poorly I did, great! But I want to know if there are better ways of doing this. It's for entertainment, just like anyone else's prediction videos. I do these for fun and to improve myself. I hope others find enjoyment, but it's okay if you don't, that's the great part about TH-cam! Hopefully I can grow and have more time to improve quality, but at the end of the day, I am a guy on the internet making videos for fun and predicting players with at least some level of analytical logic behind it. Now as for the prediction per game, I'll be doing that this upcoming season as well. Now, comparing Carr and Stroud is probably the craziest thing I've personally seen in a minute. So I'm not sure where your analytical mind set is coming from there. But I do greatly appreciate you opinion and feedback!

    • @ChewsCarefully
      @ChewsCarefully วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@StraightAMain My writing style doesn't help. Concise isn't my strong suit. Imagine yourself as someone visiting this channel. You think you found an assessment of how teams rank, then the narrator goes on about how many yards, sacks etc. they think players will get. Team sack leaders can get 9 on winning or losing teams, only one is easier. By itself, it doesn't help assess the team much as a whole. A ranking # or letter grade helps place players, teams, & 'rooms' into a context. Montez Sweat led two losing teams in sacks in one year. That makes _him_ great, not the team. It's okay to use your system _to_ place them but as listeners, VERY few people will use something like how many yards a QB passed for in any context other than trying to say they didn't _completely_ suck. If they get 30+ TDs, no one's going to count their yards It just doesn't seem to accomplish the purpose intended.

    • @ChewsCarefully
      @ChewsCarefully วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@StraightAMain The Carr & Stroud analysis is crazy on purpose. Carr has put up decent numbers in the past. But his rep for not coming through in the clutch is apt. Stroud on the other hand makes opposing DCs nervous. That's kind of The Point. Even if Carr put up his Best Numbers & they were in the same tier as Stroud's we'd all still know he will fail in the crunch. He has _earned_ that reputation. I'm not one to say 'once a failure always so' but even past season where he Took Control on the field & shouted at the receivers & straightened out the offense so that their last 3 games the offense clicked: why'd he wait All Season to do that? He did this So Late they were already out of the playoff picture when the effect kicked in. So saying "he'll have as many yards & TDs as Stroud" wouldn't mean he'd be as successful. His would mostly come in games they were already ahead in. That's why I don't think taking time to list how many of anything anyone might get actually helps the way you think it does. That's one person's opinion. You're 100% free to disregard it.

    • @StraightAMain

      You know, that's a valid point. Grading system for each positions performance is actually a good idea. I'll either make a recap video or small series of videos showcasing the results or something along those lines. When I do the series next year, I'll likely incorporate a grading system into it to help simplify the process. I am focusing less on the stats which I think is beneficial. I will likely skip the stats (or a very vague mention) in favor of changes on the team player and coach wise.

      @StraightAMain 23 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      No, I actually really like how you laid this out. I would tend to agree with that analysis. As said in my other reply, I will be taking a couple changes for next year. Plus it'll be cool to see how close these predictions get to the actual result!

    Been watching since 66 , and I think it’s one of the best teams in the NFL . If I’m wrong I will write a retraction , and give you all your accolades for your predictions . You should be ready to do the same. You’re going to see 2nd& third year players , that now have had some time together . There will be some bumps in the road , as with any other team . Rookie mistakes. But that D line is going to be something you haven’t seen since the Steelers of the Mean Joe Greene Era.

    What team are you making predictions for? You honestly think there record , is going to be that . Did you bump your head ? You sound as silly as Butkus Broski predicting Chicago to place above Detroit in the north . With the up grades to the defensive line , there won’t be time to throw . Should mean lighter work for CB’s and SAFETY’S . Which in turn , means more time for linebackers , to maul QB’s and BACK’s . Might take a little time for the line to jell . But you can only double team one or two players at a time . I believe this season is going to be epic , and this is just the beginning of what is going to happen for this club .

      I don't think I've ever seen someone say that going 11-6 is so low that it's an awful prediction! Fair enough, the team could do way better, but there are a lot of good teams in the NFL. While the Lions did get to 12-5 last year, their schedule got harder, so they'll need to stay consistent throughout the entire season to make it back to that record. I think the o-line will be more ready than the defense possibly, but it definitely isn't sustainable to double block 2 players. Always appreciate the critique!

    The addition of Diggs as well as Mixon could further open up the receiving of the rest of the pass catchers especially if the run game is more consistent. There were games last season where Noah Brown and Tank Dell were the leading receivers and both were injured towards end of the season. The offensive line was also the most injured in the league last season so the health of it will be also be a factor in this team taking the next step.

    • @StraightAMain
      @StraightAMain 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That's valid, but it came down to: 1. I know the defensive line is going to be in the top 14ish in the league, stretching to a top 10. 2. This secondary is all new and in turnovers, they did pretty well last year. So all in all, my prediction is that they breakout and do well with the players they bring in. That is part of the prediction part less than the forecast because there's not much I can go off of with this secondary. I still think the defense in general will be amazing, I just believe that the secondary is going to make that step up. Hope this helps and thank you for the comment!

      Maybe so, I like Jameson, I think he’s a good talent. OTA’s and Minicamps are hard to get a good gauge of the players coming out of there. This is mostly because the information is very cherry picked or controlled where we don’t get the full picture. He could be a great talent, but especially with Amon-Ra, LaPorta, and the RBs, it’s going to be tough for him to break through. It would be cool to see though!

If you don't have a clue what the new rookies or coaches bring, why would I or anyone else watch this? Sorry to be so harsh, but really, what would Anyone Learn from listening to this? @StraightAMain 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hey! I appreciate your comment and sharing your feedback with me. I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy or get anything out of the video. That’s not my aim at all. I am still constantly learning the best way to make content and how to approach videos like this. Is this the best way to approach this? Maybe not, but that’s why I do it, so I can learn how to be better with my schedule I have. I do it this way because more times than not, team outcomes follow trends and context. I provided the last 4 years, the talent currently rostered, and I make predictions and give information based on that information. If you notice when I talk about this current team, it’s not with the expectations of CMC or Moore, it’s noting past strategies and what this team might accomplish. If I expected the team to operate like it did with CMC, my prediction would be different. I do try to balance Entertainment and Information, and as a result, sometimes I lack enough of either. So I really appreciate comments like this so I can improve. Though I will say, I am still proud of this content and what it provides because it’s transparent and based on data instead of solely gut feeling. Most predictions I see don’t take into account what stats actually happen in the league and gives everyone a realistic across the board perspective. I hope this helps enlighten you as much as your comment helps me.

      Of course, any feedback is welcome. Though the phrase “no real video” is quite untrue given the historical data and facts behind it. Also I have to ask, if it was just my predictions, would that make it a video? Because that is what a lot of other content creators do, but I don’t see that being inherently good content. I at least wanted to be different and provide historical data based on previous season stats. But maybe that’s because the video content needs different format, what would you recommend?

    • @ChewsCarefully
      @ChewsCarefully 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@StraightAMain Damn. I shouldn't write when I'm tired. I just didn't feel that running through the stats was any use outside of context. I'll give you an extreme example. some guy took the time to isolate what two QBs do, footwork, looking off defenders etc. _before_ either play-calling or lack of on-field talent destroy a play. As most people thought in the preseason, Bryce Young & C.J. Stroud may as well be clones of each other. If you blurred their figures so you couldn't see their uniforms, you wouldn't know which you were looking at. So the stats you showed are bereft of any such context. Again, this added to the feeling that you don't _really have_ a sense of what you're covering. You have the basic idea of what you *want* to cover. but the _way_ you;'re doing it doesn't seem to accomplish it. It also feels like reading a list. If you _don't know_ if the lack of on-field talent was a factor, then why even bring the stats up? You see? you Brought The Stats Up, then even you yourself questioned if they meant anything. That added to the feeling of you flailing. Yeah, it was there, we had to read it. But again, No Context & you yourself didn't give the feeling you knew what those stats meant.

    • @StraightAMain
      @StraightAMain 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Appreciate the comment. It’s important to note that I did not predict him to get injured. I noted he was injury prone now, but I do think that his poor play will be the result of him not playing the full season. Of the 32 passing leaders, 12 of them end being less than 3,000 yards, and I genuinely think Deshaun Watson is one of those players next season. I probably did rate his passing TDs low, which I noted, but those are hard to predict anyway. Injuries suck and can’t be predicted, but noting a player’s recent injury history can play a factor in stat predicting as well. I want the browns to do well and I think they will, so I don’t really have a bias for this team.
