Yes, at least there are not too many things to go wrong, and you can fix a lot at the roadside :)

Likely they were a lot better quality back then. I have some different ones in the post, and I am going to move the mounting location so it gets less heat and vibration from the engine.

@@jaggass Yes, I have a powerspark conversion kit , and I carry a spare of it just in case !

@@isobelfox629 At least you wouldn't need to worry about points etc. We don't know how lucky we are with ECU controlled ignition, coil packs etc. The only thing is getting to them when one has failed. Gone are the days of gapping plugs, ignition timing etc.

With no spark there wasn't much point in trying any more till it was fixed :)

Yes I prefer ones where you look like you could be sat with me. It's also much easier to concentrate on the driving too, rather than what to say next :)

I made a wooden mount that is strapped to the passenger seat, seems to work quite well

@@isobelfox629 Oh, many thanks for that and well done. I like the use of natural materials too. It's just right for the Moggie and like my dad would have made in the 50's and 60's. At a second attempt, I bought quite a solid plastic one that fits on the window, it was still not good enough.

I replaced the engine with one I sourced from Ebay a few years ago, I don't have any history on what has been done to it, but it pulls really well and makes all the right noises, so i haven't dared look. The one that came with the car overheated badly and I made worse attempting to change the head gasket !

@@isobelfox629 It could have warped the cyl head or damaged the block. More than likely many Minor owners probably had the heads machined to run on UL back in the day.

I haven't done much cosmetically, it's mostly been welding up the chassis legs and replacing engine, gearbox and a lot of suspension parts - but yes all done by myself so far. Bodywork rust is the winter project :)

She does sound fab, hope to do more of these :)

Yes on my year car there are only 4 switches on the dash, choke, wipers, lights and the starter. All of them are pull ones. The starter pulls a set of contacts in the engine bay - you can also start her from the engine bay by pushing on them too.
