Likely they were a lot better quality back then. I have some different ones in the post, and I am going to move the mounting location so it gets less heat and vibration from the engine.
@@isobelfox629 At least you wouldn't need to worry about points etc. We don't know how lucky we are with ECU controlled ignition, coil packs etc. The only thing is getting to them when one has failed. Gone are the days of gapping plugs, ignition timing etc.
There is a TH-cam cc called AC Dodd who recommends viper coils… Check out his video, very informative… He suggests a different ohm rated coil depending if you have points-condenser or electronic 👍
Great video. I used to fit a lot of Lucas parts without any problems, but having said that I have not bought any for years.

Very interesting , I was getting a bit worried when you put a flame to it .
Thankfully it wasn't very flammable ! :)
interesting video thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it :)
@@isobelfox629 i have enjoyed all of your videos so far.
Another coil failure? Damn! Not having much luck with the vintage electrics recently.
No she does seem to enjoy eating them :) - have changed my setup to allow for the mounting of two of them, for easy swap over now 😆
Lucas electrics living up to it's name of ''The Prince Of Darkness''

@@isobelfox629 That Acuspark seems better. Do you have electronic ignition too?
@@jaggass Yes, I have a powerspark conversion kit , and I carry a spare of it just in case !
