I am a substitute teacher, I got to work with the sped kids also the behavioral interventionist at the school, I just recently took my RBT 40 hour course. I have a position waiting for me at a clinic for autistic children. I’m so happy where I am and where I came from. This journey has been part of my healing, when I was child I needed care like this. So to give back to the kids is such a pleasure!!

This video came right on time! I negotiated my salary and they came back a week later 10k more on my salary plus sign on bonus! This is very true I was so scared I neverrrrrr negotiate but I did this time around and it worked. I thought I was not going to get what I asked but it worked!

Ive had my RBT for 2 yrs. I worked for an agency making $40 /hr as a behavior para. They paid way more than the school! Then the school approached me about being a teacher, so now I'm a SPED teacher in Lifeskills. I also have a p/t job as an RBT 12hrs a week. I've loved the extra income. My BCBA is next after this Master's.

Anything below 90k is low balling. Masters degree, 3000 hours, and working with clients that can hurt you and put you in the hospital. 50-70k is teacher pay.

Hiii! I did not negotiate originally for my RBT position because I was so happy to work with kiddos and get back in game after gaining my masters in ABA all online. When a pay bump did come, I realized that they (the company) had the funds all along to make me a better offer but I did not know to ask for it! Now, as I continue forward, I will negotiate my salary and the benefits! I now believe that I am worth the investment. This missed opportunity pretty much cured me of imposter syndrome and feeling like I am not enough. Also! I loved the comment about knowing what others are paid, asking questions, and not being afraid of not getting the job! Take me or leave me, I will be okay because I am never stuck.❤❤❤

I think anything below 90k for the masters and certification is wild. Y'all gotta think about it this way: You are working with people that can hurt you. Adults and children. BCBA's have gone to the hospital working with clients. So you can get hurt at this job. 2. You are Highly specialized. They are asking for a degree, observation hours and certification. Doctors who paud minimum 100k have these standards. 3. Teachers are now getting paid 50-70k with just a bachelor's and a masters and passing a teaching test. The observation to become a teacher doenst compare to the observation needed to become a bcba. Anything below 90k for a bcba 2024 is low balling.

Currently watching the video so my questions you may answer as the video goes along. 1)are you personally able to supervise for bcba hours for us? 2) may be a stupid question but do they also hire men for bcba? I’ve only ever met female bcba 3) when does the clock start for the 5 year timeframe on hours? Does it start with coursework start or the start of the hours? I assume the hours. 4) I’ll be doing vcs courses since I have a non related graduate degree already. 5) do you need to be rbt first 6) my girl is bcba certification and business owner Great video so far

Great video! I have negotiated my RBT pay. I used my experience for my rationale for why I deserved more. As a BCBA I did negotiate my salary and again used my experience to explain why I deserved more. I didn’t get my salary increase right away but I did get it after 90 days plus a bonus. I think my first time negotiating was hard but I role played it with my husband to build my confidence. I can say that I’m not afraid to negotiate and know my worth and my values. I’m also more comfortable asking others their salary, it shouldn’t be a scary conversation but an insightful one.

Watching this video made me realize that growth happens when we consistently take small actions, not when we wait for big breaks.
